  1. Had one for the day a while ago - needed sunnies on the inside with all that white(ish) leather and carpets mind!! Probably OK if you don't fill your car with muddy stuff as I do most weekends - not that I looked in the boot.
  2. Wow - that's some mileage Simon! Looks like we'll both be in our F Sports before too long, but not before Bridgy who's just putting his coat on!! Pic's needed indeed - hope you like your new car.
  3. The BIK rates of the IS300h verses the German 2.0 TDi's will be much much closer together in a couple of years time - for sure the hybrid fuel rate is attractive now and we just have to hope this stays for a while, but just as diesel cars at their real inception were cost effective it's touch and go now (we all remember diesel being much cheaper than petrol!).
  4. Just reading this thread as I've not been on here for a while & I'm also in the queue, having ordered my F Sport in November I have a delivery date mid March.. It was early Feb and then changed overnight unfortunately some time ago just I've just forgotten about it and kept an eye out for the IS on the road (without much success - three or four in all that time!). However and thanks to Lexus Swindon I have a loan IS300h Luxury spec car as of Monday 10th until the F Sport arrives, so I'm very grateful to them for getting me in a Lexus. I too downloaded the manuals from which also taught me a thing or two about the spec I would be receiving. I think I know what's coming, but not entirely sure - it's a bog standard F Sport in Ultra Blue and anything else is a bonus. So - I'm looking forward to being in the 300 next week and with around 1,000 miles planned already I should have a good feel of it quickly and will report back. I guess this is the right way to go - Luxury loan to F Sport, but having originally sat in a Luxury back in October last year when I first saw the 300 I was very impressed with the overall kit and quality look - little did I know then that the F Sport in the corner was to eventually follow.. The Audi is around 150miles short of 100k now and feeling tired - been a damn good car (again) and their A4 Hybrid will be really interesting.. ..
  5. .. I think there's a fair few in the order books so I expect it'll change here soon too..
  6. 1,000 miles in two days into Scotland and back - not one IS to be seen!!
  7. Removable Witter bars have served me well over the years and typically they're 1/2 the price of the factory stuff (1/3 the price with an Audi!). I'm sure they'll be available at some point so may just tap up Witter for some info' rather than via their fitters. I may even put a bar on my wife's car instead so I don't get my new car all muddy!!! Perhaps in hindsight I should have ticked the option box but you're right David with the BIK.
  8. Witter say it's still in development - that's not going to help me tow my bike - Aaarrgghh..
  9. The two times I've driven the IS300h as I wait for mine to be delivered I used the paddles to downshift increasing the engine braking (just as I would on my bikes), then when slowed a few taps on the 'up' paddle to 6th and the car sorts itself back into auto mode. No need to touch anything other than the paddles and the energy meter recharge thingy did increase. This is the main area of an auto box that I don't care for as I like to pre-select a gear then press on, so I suspect I'll be using the manual mode quite a bit. For sure the CVT box is different to a conventional one so that will make it interesting but as said up the page there is some decent performance to be had in these cars but they need to be revved. The plus side is of course that in 'everyday' mode you can let the car worry about it all and just press the 'go' and 'stop' pedals - not something I can do today! DJP - As for being the grand old age of 'nearly' 51 - I'm hanging onto the shirt tails of my 40's so feel a mere youngster now!! I'm agreed on the ASC - seems a bit pointless but light hearted entertainment anyhow for our younger passengers..
  10. ..windy here too - abandoned my cycle ride in favour of a drive out with my daughter on L plates..
  11. It gets better - hope it's a wind proof brolley!!
  12. The test car I had sounded like a tram slowing down - quite liked it as it had a kind of industrial efficiency association what with the kinetic energy thing going on. As for the ASC - I turned it up once, then off thereafter - I think my Scalextric cars sounded more authentic!!
  13. Pictures needed.. I did see an Ultra Blue F Sport in the dark on the M6 last week coming back from Scotland. Since then I've been up to Liverpool and about a fair bit - not another IS300h in sight..
  14. Looks good - if it's a private purchase I'd be quite happy with that offer from Lexus - proper customer service!
  15. Its definitely got to be either blue, red or white. Don't you mean blue, blue or blue?
  16. Is there a touch up paint from Lexus? If not then perhaps a trawl through Halfords will find something suitable to make this look less unsightly but more importantly keep the muck/salt from getting under the lacquer/paint and lifting the lot during winter while we're not looking? Could be an idea to keep a little kit in the glovebox - touch up paint/Stanley knife blade or scraper & cleaning rag and solvent??
  17. Not wanting to hand over bags of silver to the taxman for a factory fitted tow bar, has anyone had an aftermarket one fitted yet? My local place say it's "in development' but I'm going to need it when the car arrives..
  18. So I spent around 7 hours in the car yesterday, A14, A1, M25, M4, London - North circular, M11, A11, A14 and saw my first IS300h on the road - right at M25/M4 jct heading anticlockwise - dark grey colour F Sport and looked very M3 like as it went by (I was going onto the M4) from the rear as the different tyre widths were obvious. Very refreshing that in all that time I only see 1.. No doubt this will change as we all get our cars..
  19. I reckon they'll be as hopeless as the rest of the rear wheel drive lot, especially the wider tyred ones. I changed my mind to the Lexus having chosen an Audi Quattro so the few days I'm slipping and sliding I'll just remember the financial benefits and dream of saving the planet!!
  20. Wider tyres give less pressure on the road/snow/ice due to increased contact patch so therefore easier to spin. Look at the WRC snow/ice tyres - they're skinny..
