  1. Thanks @NothernDan Im definitely in for a set of rears at the price you can agree Interested in the fronts depending on the price. @Peter P18 found your photo's again now, excellent. To my understanding the area of concern with smoked rear lights it the around the reflector and its ability to effectively reflect. But as the ISF has a remote reflector it shouldn't be an issue. Or is there reflectivity in the smoked light lens anyway ? Will be interesting to see what Mr MOT man thinks. Cheers both.
  2. Hi @NothernDan Im interested in a set of rear lights. I fancy Smoked ones but are they UK road Legal? Did I see a post that someone has them already? Cant see it now. Trying to persuade myself I want some fronts too so any news on the price if you can get enough interest?
  3. Looking great in my opinion, but I think the stock wheels look great in black. The lights look great. ............and Orange callipers? Great. What's not to like.
  4. Well I like it. I would have had one back in the day but not now at £35k as that amount of dosh needs spending on an F. However I can vouch for the 2JZ engine in the front of my IS300 Sportcross for being and sounding great. Its been mildly improved in a few areas Bought as a temporary runabout its lots of fun taking the garden rubbish to the tip (when I go the long way round) and at next to no money its a terrific second / runabout car.
  5. Yes @Big Rat how the prices vary. As you know I went to look at the 2012 red car In Stoke non franchise dealer reduced to £22.500 recently. (they have had it since June). Mechanically tight but needed paint on nearly every panel so reluctantly I walked away. Im talking to Lexus Edinburgh about the Blue 2012 car and that's £29.995. surfer turned contributor
  6. I guess I'm a stalker but that sounds negative, A surfer perhaps less so? Im in the market to buy and find the forum a goldmine of info in the search for the right one. Particular thanks to @Big Rat When I buy I'm sure I will move towards contributor but in the mean time I remain an occasional surfer.
  7. Yeah, did wonder if it was yours but thought its was so long ago you changed up it must be a different one. Amazing how dealers are prepared to sit it out to maintain the profit. Will PM you for some inside knowledge.
  8. Yep, Im loving the orange callipers and it great to see such great feedback about a dealer too. Cheltenham not too far me from relatively speaking and as Lexus Derby couldn't have been less bothered about my interest to buy an ISF I would be happy to travel for great service. I notice a used ISF at Lexus Cheltenham. Was it someone's on here? I guess its on a thread somewhere that Ive missed as I don't get logged on that regular.
  9. @Big Rat Yes my Blue Mink paint has peeled from the primer too. Apparently all the Silver fox and Blue Mink did that if they didn't completely rot away to dust first. Now a boring it but stick with it......... Mine is a Mk 2 series 1 with the gauges on top of the dash and full chrome Rostyle wheels and yours was a Mk 2 series 2 which had the gauges lower in the dash and steel wheels. A few other differences too, not least front doors are a very slightly different on the leading edge and windscreen apertures 2 mm smaller................ so the art of the facelift not a new thing which links this to this tread. Back to ISF............Granting @Mark G point made about facelift items coming in over time, which I would expect as parts bins run out and or new bits come on line is there any science or timeline to know what to expect? for instance is one thing the last thing to change so if you have that you have it all?? Of course its buyer beware and do the research but are there any other bits to check in a claimed "facelift" model. Should I be searching for another thread on hear that tells all this?
  10. Hi Paul, Yes, my interest in cars does span the decades so you guessed right as I have a 1968 Cortina 1600e, (under restoration) in Blue Mink. Anyone of a certain age will remember those. "back in the day" it belonged to my Granddad so family owned from new and one day it will be hit the road again better than new. For clarity I don't remember it new as was only a child. Im old but not that old. Yours, and other comments on here, as well as being interesting and amusing are the best source of info available which I sure many enjoy reading if not contributing and maybe soon I will be back with a V8. Life is not complete without a V8. For me its all about the colour so not going to alienate myself by declaring my favourite................just yet :-)
  11. I'm in the first stages of looking for an ISF (more at research phase to be honest) and saw this one on ebay before Christmas but it ended without sale. Everyone reading the add in instalments over a number of days and the auction timed out I guess. Its hard work isn't it. It was relisted again this week but I just get the feeling the lady is trying too hard to sell and that made me suspicious. I did wonder about the history though if any knows the car? Very interesting to read what all you knowledgeable guys have to say on this forum by the way. Im sure its going to help me find just the right one.
  12. Would you believe it. The first hot day of the year and my air con appears not to be working. It only blows hot air no matter what temperature is set on the dial. Any ideas what to look for and check before I visit the garage to rack up a hefty bill. I'm hoping its something simple and you knowledgeable guys out there have been there before. I know Air Con can lose its gas but is there anyway I can easily prove its that or something else? (Only had the car a few months so not sure it ever worked. Thought I checked it but not so sure now)
  13. I had an alarm problem over the weekend with my IS200 Sport which I have only had for a few weeks. After a short trip to the shop and back the alarm went off half a dozen times through the afternoon as it was parked on the drive. Single locked it, double locked it, ignition on / off thinking that might reset something or other, tried anything but after a while it went off again, then again, then again. I was getting quite concerned and heading for the forum until I realised I couldn't find my phone.................................The phone was in the car ! and had half a dozen text messages !........................Coincidence? I put the phone back in the house, locked the car and its been OK ever since. Strange but true. So Where was your phone? Out of respect for the neighbours I didn't try and prove the theory but I will do at some point.
  14. Ian, gutted for you but an IS200 itch never goes away. Having had my own IS200 Sport over 10 years ago, giving it up for a company car, (which I have just lost), I had to have another one. Collect my "new" 51 plate IS200 Sport on Monday. Its in better condition and less miles that the one I sold 10 years ago. Can't wait. Cost less than the half term holiday we just booked too. Half term holidays come and go but Lexus is for ever ??
  15. Hi Paul, Close, first car was a Mk 2 Cortina but not a 1600e although that is the link as I am restoring a blue mink 1967 1600e. I say restoring.....not much work being done on it lately. No rush though its been in the family for 45 years.
  16. More select surely gbh300 although I wouldn't normally consider red myself but its mint inside and out and I was sold on the overall look. The wheels and tyres are brand new on all four corners with the original silver ones showing the signs of usual wear / grot and were replaced for the sale. The spare however is the original and never been out the boot so not sure what that tells me. Being of a certain age myself I might tone down the calipers though! Does it show an owner that was proud of the look they liked, who spent hours taking care of the car or some spotty boy racer? Not sure but as they were clearly painted off the car I guess when the disks were replaced I'm choosing to believe the former. Mind you I'm not indenting to just potter around myself.
  17. After a gap of over 10 years and for a very modest price I'm now back in the IS200 Sport game. On the test drive it was just as I remember with all senses suitably stimulated. Sounds great, looks great (even smelt good but I think I might have imagined that) and much better than the Vauxhall company cars I have had that's for sure. Thanks to all on here for the posts I have been reading to help me know what to look for. Fingers crossed but with full service history and only 70k miles its going to serve me well. I did consider a lease plan on a new IS300 but £'s per smile I recon this one is going to be much better value. What could possibly go wrong? I'm looking forward to posting with you all when something inevitably will on a car of this age. Looking forward to some enjoyable motoring, Cheers Glynn
  18. John, Colin, thanks for that info its very useful and helps narrow down the search. Looks like I should be after a late 2nd generation F Sport. I think the SR is out. Steve, Yes would love to but would need my 6 numbers coming up. However I am tempted to buy a 1st generation IS 200 Sport or Sportcross for reasonable money while I save up for a year or two. Now theres a thought. If I could buy back my 1999 car I would, still regret selling that. I can see you have an interesting IS ownership history and wonder which was your favourite?
  19. Hi all, I'm looking out to buy an IS 250 Sport as my current company car must go and having had an IS 200 Sport 10 years ago I haven't had a better car since, but which model to buy? Joining this forum to start my search to get a good one seemed like a good idea so thanks in advance for any comments you knowledgable folk might have. Im looking at 2nd generation models of around 2010 2011 and the period Lexus catalogue refers to it as 250 F Sport. However adverts on evil bay and auto trader variously refer to "250 Sport" or "250 F Sport" so are there two models or is it just how people present thier adverts of the same model?? Throwing me a further curved ball I find adverts for "250 SR" which isnt in my Lexus catalogue at all ! This seems to be a cloth interior base model with a body kit but Im not sure if this model has the sport suspension or gear ratio's so any info on this and where the SR sits in the model range would be helpful. I do know what I really want is the IS F and all its 5 ltr fire breathing V8 but cant afford one of those. Thanks for any info, Glynn
