  1. Just passing again today and couldn't resist another look. I saw the front end being loaded in a van apparently to repair a 2011 car? I think the guy paid about 1/3 the price the parts were on order from LEXUS for those bits which on the one hand is a saving but on the other second hand the panels needed work ! I'm told the engine may be on its way to Bahrain ! (although still on ebay for over £5k or £7.5k if you want the gearbox and he's taking call on the gearbox daily. . And that fork lift..................doing more damage by the day.
  2. Ah, I remember reading about that some time ago, wasn't it Teesside Police ? maybe there was more than one with the Police. I'm curious now to prove if that's the case as there must be all sorts of tells if you look close. No wonder the drivers seat looked well worn if you imagine the size of the average traffic plod getting in an out thousands of times
  3. Surely one or other set should be "wrong" as the shoulder on the nut should match the wheel? As I guess the original one does. Too long would be definitely not be fine but shorter I guess works. Understand the concern John as ideally I want my wheel nuts to be exactly the right thing as Mr Lexus intended and not just close. Definitely worth checking.
  4. I spotted this keep reappearing and although looks great in the photo's wondered if it wasn't all it seemed. For sure I would want to be paying a significant chunk less £££ to cater for all the differences even if they can all be reasonably overcome. For only a modest saving on a good UK car I wouldn't bother but it might represent a good bargain for somebody. The good thing is its declared for what it is so hopefully no surprises for the new owner.
  5. And a Lincoln Continental Limo for Saturday evenings out when an estate car just isn't enough. Well why not
  6. Yes, Garage envy here too. And as someone with the need of an estate car I lament the lack of a more modern Lexus estate for when my old IS 300 Sportcross starts to become high maintenance. That said over the last 12 months its cost £0 maintenance and very minimal depreciation so fingers crossed.
  7. Ah yes that's the link and Im pretty sure its the same car as it has the same telegraph pole shaped dint in the rear quarter, and that rear wheel is missing. You can see the rear bumper on the floor in the other photo in the original link but I cant remember now if its with the car, in the back seat, or now missing.
  8. Spotted this on Monday on ebay for sale. Sadly one not so good condition ISF and I think its the write off from the thread some weeks ago but can find the thread or remember who the owner was. I guess it answers the question as to what the guy was going to do with it. As it happens its at a breakers just down the road from me so had a quick look and its a sorry sight for sure. The yard owner recons its Cat S and can be repaired but I doubt it. Is the original owner able to confirm I wonder? Not sure if the other side was in good condition pre accident but both doors now have scuffs and scrapes probably from the salvage monkeys or from being fork lifted about. Seats didn't look too good either, only had 3 wheels, no badges, grille had clips broken. Although the yard owner was particularly miserable and generally uninterested (amazing......for all he knew I might of wanted to buy it) Im happy go back for anyone remotely interested in buying anything if you need a close look at anything. A sad loss all the same and I hope the old owner is looking to pick up one the ones for sale at present.
  9. It was great to get along to the Touchdown Café and meet up with everyone who attended so thanks @Flytvr for arranging. I hope I can hang around a bit longer next time. Your RCF's on show guys mean I need to revisit my savings plan and as @Cezar B demonstrated you can get a full grown adult in the back so there is no good reason not to have one. That's me convinced, just the wife and the bank manager to go then.
  10. Thanks for the recommendation @rich1068 that sounds a good price, Although I have got a company very local so I'm off there.
  11. Thanks for all the comments, Its interesting Lexus offer a service with local specialists @olliesgrandad @d3ron and at a competitive price. I previously ruled out going to my local dealer expecting the price to be eye watering if they were even were interested. (Although having had a number or IS 200's back in the day we all know what wheel corrosion is about so perhaps I shouldn't be surprised. I do like the dark silver with the white car @DAW and that's the colour I was going with but until I bought the new set so the old ones need something else which in the end I think will be a winter set. Fair point @NemesisUK about matt wheels looking dirty but I use the car regularly so regrettably so does the car. Although I have been surprised however how quick I'm picking up little tar spots on the paint but that's another matter. As for brake dust and wheel cleaning! I bought some Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner and its simply brilliant. Spray on, leave for a few mins, and you can see and smell it working. Just takes a thorough rinse off and its done.
  12. The first job I intended doing after I bought my ISF (4 month in now) was to get the wheels refurbished but I'm still having trouble deciding which colour to go with. I'm not so much into modifying but would going with a non stock colour be a crime I wonder? I think I currently have light silver although they have been done before so could be any non stock colour. Apologies in advance for the crap photography, shadows, dirty car etc. Well I have since got hold of a set of dark silver wheels and they look great (thanks Dan) And quite a contrast next to each other. So I could go with those. Although you don't get the difference so much on the car. Although I do like the look of matte bronze (without the blue bit) that BCS had lying around. Ummmmmm Matt Bronze I think, but then again. Ahhhh.
  13. Last night as leavening the Derby match I spotted a Black ISF leaving the stadium car park. Was it anyone on here? You were off into the distance before I could get the Reg. Are you a Derby or Wigan fan I wonder?
  14. Im planning to come along if I can keep up with the changing arrangements. I chanced upon the Touchdown Café a couple of summers ago when I stayed at the camp site across the road. There is a tiny wartime museum on site but not sure when thats open. Up the road the Vulcan bomber is on display and at weekends volunteers are around doing stuff and they are more than pleased to give you a guided tour for a small donation. My lad loved it. Its an awesome machine. We got a full cockpit tour. Result.
  15. Im up for this. Would be great to see some of you guys and your cars. Looks about an hour and 20 mins drive for me..
  16. Have you got the money earmarked for something shiny on the ISF by any chance ? I can think of no better use to help get over the loss.
  17. Hi Benny, Did you ever find a sill to repair your IS200. If so how much and from where? As you found many are suffering from rust now days so I would expect repair panels to exist somewhere. I might need one to sort the dreaded rust.
  18. Id normally be up for this as would be good to meet up with other F owners but its the last weekend of the football season (Championship anyway) so I will be at the match celebrating the mighty Rams promotion to the Premier League. On the other hand I could pop up if we don't even make the play offs but forever he optimist. Agree with @Toothy though all credit to you for calling it out.
  19. Go on Rishi buy one, you know you want to. I should have bought mine sooner and on reflection it should be no more expensive to run than my 10 year old Mitsubishi L200. I have 2 years service and warranty with Lexus for £100 a month. My L200 cost more than that in service and MOT repairs over the last 2 years. I have seen 30mpg on a run, although 12mpg when Im having more fun but an average better than my pick up. (I'm happy with 12 as its more fun than Sky sports). Insurance just over £400 with a limited mileage. Very competitive. I bought well at a keen price and don't expect to loose big money on depreciation over a couple of years and certainly nothing compared to buying or leasing a new car. I flogged the L200 and bought an IS300 Sportcross as a runabout. Sorted. Therefore my man maths concludes running an ISF could actually be a saving. Well that's what I told the Mrs.
  20. @wibzo I guess if / when you accept the valuation payment the vehicle becomes the property of the insurance company and that will be in the small print of your policy. They will sell the salvage at the highest price possible to offset "their" loss. That could be to you for the minor categories or an authorised salvage agent for vehicles that shouldn't be repaired, which they then make a profit on the parts that can be sold. Call me a cynic but the second opinion provided by and paid for by the insurance company is highly likely to arrive at the conclusion they want it to. I have always had the view that there is an unhealthy relationship between insurance companies, inspectors, approved repairers and the salvage industry as between them its potentially just a massive cash generating machine. If you truly believe it can be safely repaired I would think you need to get a private inspection if they would allow that and fight them if it goes in your favour but at what time and cost? On reflection and along with the other advice, why bother? Maybe channel your energies into justifying the highest value settlement you can with all the evidence possible that it was the best ISF in existence. As always, good luck.
  21. ? you mean they turned up at home having exchanged them for some hard earned ££ Or they have turned up for sale.
  22. I bet if yours has fell off it wont be the first to go that way and therefore it will be readily available? Readily being a relative term particularly here in the UK. That said I needed some engine cover bolts for my Mitsubishi L200 recently and they came in 7 days from Japan via Germany. Its a global village. Im sure your local dealer will do the business but for how much I wonder?? £20 £40 more??
  23. Im having my wheels refurbed with BCS in the next couple of weeks (taking advantage of their pay December and do in January 30% off) but hence their old name "Brake Calliper Specialist" they do more callipers I gather. Quality looks good and they paint callipers for McLaren so says their Website. Now BSC Automotive they do wheels too and I will be happy to post up later how I get on. I have no affiliation to these guys but just happen to be local. As for colour @Twellsie how about Aston Martin Acrid Lime. that would look good with black. Or Orange will be a nod to how Lexus see things. Am I right to think ISF had option orange callipers in US or Japan but not Europe / UK ?? look good all the same on a GSF. Have you decided yet ??
  24. Well I though the concept looked great, the camo pictures looked good but I like the production version much less from the front or back. Although surely nobody can dislike a Zagato esk double bubble. And Smee ! I don't like him. Took one for the team though and listened all the way which qualifies me to suggest you give him a miss. That's 20 minutes of my life I wont get back but every day a school day as they say.
  25. These look great Dan and have to be on my shopping list for the future. The fact that they can be just as easily swapped back for the originals appeals to me. Have you ruled out doing the fronts as well ? I can only hope the fronts look better in real life than in the you tube video's
