  1. When I used to have my IS200 (I had it for 8 years) I only used to get 29mpg tops. My RX is much better at 33- 38, and is a bigger car too. Fantastic! The old IS was a great car by the way!
  2. Good answer, and don't forget the reliability and luxury you get too
  3. @box brownie. If anything, I think these days Lexus carries more of a cachet than Mercedes because of its use of hybrid tech and unbeatable luxury, and of course they don't suffer from rot, or break down like Mercedes
  4. yes, thats about what i get too. heard the 450 is more, but not sure how much more people are getting.
  5. Forgive me, but is it not more convenient and less hassle to change the car?
  6. hello, Do what i have done on my 2007 400 h, which is go for what's called the essential service, this is either an interim service or you can choose the full essential service. These are specifically designed to keep older cars serviced.
  7. hi, i have a RX 400h.. fantastic car. I have also tried a new 450h, and that is good too. It's a evolution, not a revolution though, just got a few more bells and whistles.. i do like the daytime running lights (that i dont have on my 400h) and all round parking sensors. 99 k sounds high milage, so for that sake i would go with the 400h.. but have a long test drive first in both..
  8. hello, did you get to the bottom of your fan noise? did it need replacing? i think i have similiar on my RX400h.
  9. Hello, if I am going down quite a steep hill I always use the B (engine braking) position as it saves wearing the brake pads out. If you don't use that , the car can tend to run away with you due to is size. I can't say I have noticed what you mention though.
  10. hello, may i just throw in my observation that when i start up in the morning in my RX400h, the petrol engine always starts, i've never started off on electric first thing in the morning. Later in the day if i have been on a run, it may then start in electric. just saying. ja
  11. i have the same tyres and use the handbook figure.. (i think) of 33psi all round.
  12. Thanks for the input everyone / Shaun. Yes what you say is right about having a quality car, then skimping on maintanance just does not add up. I have decided to let Lexus do it anyway. thanks again ja
  13. hello i went to national tyres for a look, and they said they use Castrol, but are now using Fuchs oil. Is that a good make? Just wondering so i can make up my mind. I'll post in the forum too.. thanks jason
  14. Hello all Looking at an oil change for my RX400h 07 reg. I am considering having the Essential Care Minor Service at £179, but when i look at the schedule sheet that i asked to look at for comparison, apart from the oil change, i just see a lot of checks that would be carried out on the car. So, i look at the Natonal Tyre oil change quote for Quality 5W30 Fully Synthetic (includes oil filter) at £40. for comparison. My question is: which to go for? If i went for the National Tyres one am i missing out on something important that Lexus would do? Is there anything stopping National Tyres doing the change for me? (Such as, will they have to take off the bottom engine cover/ sheilding, to do it? thanks Ja
  15. Hybrid batteries last the life of the car and never have to be replaced.
  16. Hello, does anyone know what the Lexus essential care minor service changes / checks on the RX400h? I have an 07 model that i want to have done soon. thanks
