  1. I think slight temperature change has got moderate impact on mpgs.. last week or so I had local mpg 41.5, with some improvement in weather it has gone up to 44.3 Over the weekend, 125 miles motorway, 52.9 mpg when temperature gauge showed 10C On return with temperature of 6C,mpg on the same journey went down to 49.8 mpg Difficult to quantify the exact impact though a good news for all us, in particular newbies, who might be gutted seeing very low winter mpgs..
  2. Did anyone had a chance to accurately identify the ' sweet spot' where RPM and MPG are attuned and the mpg bar is full blue.. I think mine is around 71mph when it happens..
  3. Very good review! Hybrid power train does require a bit of 'habituation' in terms of noise :) As for car, you will love it:)
  4. It is very interesting to see this and most other reviews focus on criticizing the CVT gearbox and lack of performance, for all Toyota/Lexus Hyrbids. At times, its a statement which they could easily make even with out trying the car..Also, the reviews on hybrids are done on just one drive, considering the engine and class is different and does need knowing the car more before jumping to conclusion! Which most reviews do.. Going back to it, the car has gearbox which has potential to become a bit noisy when you are pressing the throttle hard, more prominent if one is going over the speed limits quickly (e.g. overtaking). The noise is not disturbing in any ways..The key message is if you the car is driven within the normal speed limits , the car should give good MPGs and reasonable performance. I have kept Prius before this Lexus and have never felt that the performance or noise are issues any ways! Hope that helps
  5. Looks like an IS300h- thankfully driver rescued.. http://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/11600568.Driver_cut_from_car_after_it_crashes_into_three_houses_on_Caerleon_Road/ :(
  6. It takes post code after you scroll to the second page of sat-nav not tried voice commands as yet..
  7. My car is due for second service on this Friday I wonder if there is a list of things/extra functions/updates..that could be requested as well. On top of the list is nav map update Would be good to know if there are any items..
  8. You are right..filled the tank with 59 litres.... Guess I perceived car's usual sluggishness in the Eco mode to be the final bit before it had stopped completely....
  9. I had the fuel light came on at 42 miles cruising range. I continued driving for 10 miles after the cruising range got reset.. So overall one tank gave 620 miles with 50.3 mpg and only 10 miles extra range after the cruising range touched zero..I felt the car would stop at any point, was close to a gas station, phew!!!;)
  10. I have Atlantic blue ..still love it :hocus-pokus:
  11. I have started using sports and normal mode more often and have noticed slightly better mpg.. I always felt that with Eco mode, when you accelerate it would almost consume the same amount of fuel as doing that quickly with normal or sports mode..as evidence by mpg.. Would be interesting to know any other experiences or insights...
  12. Just got a quote of 445£ for 20,000 from Swindon... Have been told its standard rate across nationally.. Hmmmm... I have 1300 miles to go before 20,000 so will make sure its exact 20,000:)
  13. Welcome to the forum I was in a very similar position as I started my quest with new CT. There are major differences in IS and CT namely quality, space and drive..( CT is younger but posh sister of Prius) The main reason for me to IS was the price difference which wasn't that big between the two, considering what IS offers.. I would suggest to go for IS ..:) All the best
  14. S4 is compatible, have received and sent SMS, but it could be temperamental as message sometimes doesn't arrive at all..
  15. Hi Ian That's interesting-I guess warm weather could make a difference... have been getting 49-50 with motorway and city combined.. I have also noticed that the car seems to does better mpg on motorway driving as compared to the city as I consistently notice change in mpgs within the city.. In contrast to prius 3rd generation I had, which used to do really good in the city and less efficient on motorway..
  16. Just wondered if anyone knows how to set up the home screen.. With mouse controller, there is menu button on right and home screen icon on left, which brings a screen partitioned into the music and sat-nav Could this screen be customized with other icons instead?
  17. Was looking at pics and realised that is300h doesn't come with a shark fin antenna? If so, is it worth having it?
  18. Came across the transparent shields wrap...Anyone tried it? http://www.prestigewrap.co.uk/prestigecustoms/stone-chip-protection/ Not sure if there are any other solutions to prevent stone chip damage..
  19. This is really positive! so Audi A4 is out!!! IS has every potential to compete with 3 series and C class..
  20. Hi Just been exploring the ways to carry my bike in IS. Checked the website and noted that roof rack along with roof bike holder is an option. Quote by Lexus Cardiff: Roof rack 177 + VAT Bike holder 61+ VAT Total inc VAT £322 15% discount if order by Friday- £274 Thought its bit costly.. Any ideas for alternatives or any solutions to for bike carriers?
  21. I used regenerative braking and then closer to the junction applied the brakes rather quickly. It was the point when I noticed slight jerkiness and which lead me to press the pedal couple of times more... I suppose the braking system of hybrid vehicles is best used with main focus on regenerative braking and using the mechanical as a last resort..
  22. Hi Neil Its real time traffic information update... If you are registered with Lexus Portal, it gives an option to download it. I am not sure if its an update which the car already has.. Sorry kinda getting grips with this:) BW Omar
  23. I had to brake a bit abruptly and noticed the car was jerky and had to press the pedal few times.. I understand that its due to electrical system transition to the normal mechanical braking... It did give me a bit uncomfortable feeling as the car didn't come to a complete stop in first attempt... Does others have similar experience? Thanks
