  1. Welcome! 10k I guess would be the edge of a decent SE-L - though if mileage is not a problem then surely one can be found. Make sure to go with a 2007+ one, as it has a newer navigation system with a higher resolution screen - which will even support hooking up and displaying your android device screen on the main nav screen - at least I saw that being available. Regarding the modding, I am interested too - but not much stuff is in the UK, most of the custom things have to be ordered from either US or Japan - and that adds to the cost. So far I was looking to modify: Headlights - swap into the black ones Pedals Custom shift knob Lip kit - which is difficult to find, as WALD I think have moved to the 450h and not sure if any are available for 400h. I even wrote to the main dealer in UK but got no response. Springs - maybe will change, maybe will not - to lower the car and reduce roll on the corners. And there's other things that can be changed or tweaked. I find actually even more challenging and interesting because of the scarcity - once you get something very custom, you can be sure the car will be truly unique.
  2. Yeah, I am noticing the same on mine - so not sure. Would £54 Lexus diagnostic detect misfires? How would they check for that? I thought a service light would come on or something if a fault like this is detected by the sensors?
  3. Thanks for the suggestions - I've tried inspecting all of the tyres, but couldn't see anything obvious or out of place - so I am not sure it is an egg? But what I did was to look at the car from the back aligning the sight straight in the middle where Lexus and rear view mirror would align and I could easily see that rear left wheel seems to have noticeably more toe-in than the right one. Find it strange, so will be taking to one of the shops in Northolt that I found via http://www.alignmycar.co.uk as Captain Fizz (Ian) suggested. They might solve the issue. As I find current ride on a very good road when not accelerating is quite bumpy though I would expect it to be super smooth? Event then, maybe I should still get a new set of tyres before the geometry...
  4. Hi there, Any ideas about the pricing for this @ official dealer and 3rd party garage? Not sure what's wrong with mine RX, but just noticed this morning - on a completely flat road at a very low speed (< 5mph?) the car is still jumping slightly up and down, as if the road had small bumps... So, I am pretty sure it is not a wheel alignement problem as speed is way too low for it to occur - maybe something in the suspension system (struts/bent drive shaft), buckled wheel or unevenly worn tyre (which does not look to be from outside)? Any thoughts are appreciated!
  5. Hi Boxbrownie, To answer your questions: When ignition is off and car is locked, light is off. When I move the key into the READY position, it lights up brightly and stays that way while the "READY" mode initial beep is being played. Once the beep ends, light goes dim, but stays on, but very faintly. Clicking the button has no effect on the LED, so nothing changes after car is switched off and started again. I even tried holding the button while moving the key into READY mode, but still no effect. No other equipment besides standard. So I am quite baffled at this point about what that button is for - I will probably try removing the middle gear/console covers to see where the wires go - maybe it is related to iPod integration or smth? Hmm...
  6. £20 to fit!? It is literally a 2-second job! Unless it was more additional work in addition to putting the cover on.... In any case - glad it is all solved!
  7. I don't think there is - at least in my case - as the sensors start working once you shift into [R]everse.
  8. That is true - the car has rear parking sensors which work fine and are activated when reversing. Strangely, my front ones do not work - the car has them though. Clicking on the button does not enable them either, so I am guessing the sensors aren't working at all or the button (snapped wire somewhere?) does not. In any case - was wondering - where would be the sensor box/computer located? Just to check if it is there at all. P.S. There is no tow bar on the car. The "SHIFTLOCK" button is for a different purpose, I quote one reply from another forum:
  9. Hi there, Maybe someone could shed some light on what this button is for? Was there when I bought the car a few months ago and still haven't figured out what it is supposed to do - clicking on it does not change anything noticeable in the functionality of the car. Also, it has a red LED which seems to be on when I start the car. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks
  10. I am looking for the rear left cover as well - thanks ColinBarber for the codes. Few days ago I requested a quote from lexuspartsdirect.co.uk and they it is the reply: CVR.R/RACK LEG 63494-0E010 £58.95 1 £58.95 So basically £60 if within UK - otherwise an option would be eBay from here (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190901529670) and probably will be less if lucky to avoid any import duty ;-)
  11. Obviously - condition first (in and out) and whether the inverter recall has been done etc. I went for 2006 one due to colour availability/time-constraints/price, but I wish I had gone for the 2007+, as - among few other differences - it has a higher resolution navigation display (and newer software) so you have a lot wider selection of 3rd party audio addons which allow you to do many more things than older generation - such as even connecting an Android device and use it by touching the navigation display - how awesome is that? 2006 model is quite limited in its extensibility and thus any audio additions disquise themselves as a 2nd CD changer. Even then, still one can get add-ons for iPod/iPhone integration, bluetooth audio (not to be confused with telephone bluetooth), AUX-IN, USB etc (GROM module for example) - that might be all you need. Also, any of the models is an SE-L with the Mark Levinson hi-fi audio system? I wish I had that too - though standard SE audio system is very good, I always guess how much better ML one would be! Other than the above, I think there is no big difference - even looks-wise, the chrome handles - if that's important - can be bought in the aftermarket and fitted quite easily. Wish you a successful purchase! Good luck
  12. And I paid ~£140 for the latest 4 discs - though I guess the prices difference is exactly because of that... If you drive only in UK then it more than enough - and I think the disc still includes major roads of the Western Europe - just in case you cross the Channel and get lost =)
  13. In the '06 RX I've got (Gen 3 NAV system) only 4 phones can be registered and - probably as in other versions - it is just one phone connected at the time. My Nexus 4, for example, does not work at all - it connects fine, but while on the call no sound is transmitter to/from the phone. Samsung S4 works fine. Could be a software issue though on Nexus 4.
  14. Regarding using DABMotion/JustConnect - by "wireless" connection I assume they translate DAB converted to FM and you have to tune your present in-car radio to specific FM frequency (87.6?)? If so, I am curious about the sound quality once DAB signal goes from DABMotion to car FM - that bit - is it affected at all? Surely it must be not worse than regular FM broadcast quality? Never tried.
  15. Funny that you mention it - GROM USB2P (+ AUX + Bluetooth modules) is actually the one I am decided on at the moment - thinking too that I could live without DAB or buy it later and hook into GROM via AUX... In any case, the car already has iPhone/iPod integration (probably arranged for by one of the previous owners) - but I own just Android phones, so I was thinking just to get cheap iPod Nano 8GB and use it meanwhile and save some £s... Eventually, once I get the GROM kit, I will be very happy if my COWON J3 player will work via Bluetooth and I will be able to control it via wheel controls (hoping that Bluetooth A2DP standard allows to control the player). Otherwise I will be ok just holding it in my hand as a remote - just like JustConnect DAB has one too...
  16. John, Did you get it professionally installed or is it possibile as a DIY project? I am looking to add MP3/DAB/AUX in and optionally a Bluetooth audio playback capability to my old RX 400h 2006 version and want to get as much as possible in a discreet-as-possible package. Pure Highway 300Di looks like a good option (minus Bluetooth). Also, does it integrate with the wheel/console controls?
  17. When I was buying mine RX, I did point out the bubbling to the dealer - he offered a "discounted" £40/wheel refurb to take care of it. So I asked for gun metal grey colour instead - but was expecting it to be just a bit darker from silver - but apparently it is so much darker. So now the car is all on the night side - but I am getting used to it. Though I doubt they did a full-alloy refurb/paint - just the visible side to save the effort for the profit. And I forgot to ask refurb the spare wheel... Imagine that... But I will take that one wheel to a proper refurb guys to see what can be done. Here's what it looks like if anyone is curious:
  18. By reading elsewhere I got impression that it is possible to enable the auto folding mirrors via the Toyota TIS Techstream cable and appropriate software (search on eBay) - though I don't remember specifics and this is something that needs further research on my end. Anyone got it working with the mentioned cable/soft?
  19. I am assuming you are going for the latest RX 450h - you can find the comparison on the Lexus site: http://www.lexus.co.uk/car-models/rx/rx-450h/index.tmex#/PricesAndSpecifications Hope it helps!
  20. Wow! Well done - I never liked white/beige-only intererriors - but I do like the contrasty ones white+black and similar.
  21. Hi there, Just wondering where exactly is the fuel line at the front located? Is it by any chance reachable if removing underhood plastic in the top left corner (under car)? Asking as I just noticed this weekend when returning to the car from a hike around Ivinghoe Beacon that the plastic was loose and one plastic screw anchor was on the ground... Strange that it fell of just like that when car was parked...
  22. This is a newer version of the screen (higher resolution) and nicer UI for 2007+ model... Mine unfortunately has the old pixelated one with the green color scheme...duh, should have been more patient and looked for the newer model
