Is220d Still Of The Road.
PQuist replied to digg's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I rejected my 55 plate GS following rattle issues on the basis that not as described the car is a/ not of satisfactory quality b/ not fit for the purpose c/ not as described. However, the dealer had two attempts to rectifiy the rattle and has finally agreed to replace the car with like for like. Get the dealer to underwrite that as this is a known problem, they will pay for the cost of repairs should the same problem occur as long as you own the car. Please get this on a letter headed paper. -
Here is my story..... Dealer have agreed to replace the car as works have been done on the car about 4 times to fix the rattle. They gave me the replacement car to test drive for 24 hours. I could hear a faint noise but it has been agreed that should the noise get any worst in the near future, Lexus will under take the works to fix it at no cost as long as I still own the vehicle. In addition to that, dealer will service the replacement car for me free of charge at the next service and throw in the SE-L 18 inch wheels. Not bad ehh??

What Car Review
PQuist replied to Mr Pants!'s topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I think the IS deserves a two star. Very disappointed in Lexus. They had plenty of time to put things right i.e. pitting alloys, dreaded rattles, cheap plastics, cheap paint work, cabin noise, unsettled ride. Once I get rid of mine, that's it. -

I am a convert from IS200 manual to GS 300 (auto) after over 20 years of driving manual cars. Never going back to manual. -

I have everything in writing. As far as I am concerned, the car should be replaced with a like -for like and not a high mileage car -

Yes I have and it is Lexus GB giving me the grief -
Bought the new GS 6 months ago and after a few weeks, much dreaded rattle. Lexus took the car in twice within two months to fix the rattles and no joy. On that basis, I rejected the car as it is totally unsatisfactory. Lexus have agreed to replace the car for me but this is where the story begins. 1st car offered is an SE with no Sunroof which I rejected as mine has a sunroof 2nd car offered is black SE-L with cream interior which I have rejected. Mine is silver with a black trim. 3rd one offered is an SE-L, silver and black interior but has 5K miles more on the clock than mine so I rejected. This has been going on since Jan 07 and enough is enough now. I have asked for deposit to be refunded as this will enable me buy another make and Lexus are being difficult on this saying they can find me a replacement car and cannot return my deposit. Given that it’s taken nearly 4 months to find me a car and still not getting anywhere, where do I stand with getting my deposit back?

Noticed my alloys pitting over the w/end whilst washing the car. Does anyone here have the same problem? Thought Lexus have addressed the problem by now from the Old IS and GS days. Are these covered under warranty?

Go for a used GS300 SE. Drives better and all the options in the IS is standard on the GS. Plus you get more power

I converted from the IS series to the New GS. Unfortunately, I have rejected the GS due to rattles and now awaiting for a replacement car from Lexus. The GS is now parked on the my drive way and I am having to use my wife's Corsa which is a third of of the price of the GS and RATTLE FREE.

Dear Mr Quist I would like to resolve this issue to your satisfaction, so I propose that we exchange your vehicle as you have requested. We need to discuss the detail so I can begin searching for a suitable replacement. My aim is to provide you with a vehicle as close as possible to your existing GS300 SE with respect to specification, age and miles. Are you happy with your current colour combination, if not please let me know. Perhaps you can give me a call to discuss this matter further. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards Paul Meller From: [mailto:spammers@getaproperjob.com] Sent: 25 January 2007 13:09 To: spammers@stillsuck.com Cc: spammers@getlost.com Subject: * * * LEXUS GS 300 REG GV55 KVH * * * Background: On 28.10.06, I purchased a Lexus GS300 registration GV55KVH from Lexus Croydon. Haven driven the car for a week or so, I heard some rattles coming from the front passenger A Pillar, centre of the dash board and the drivers side A pillar. I reported the rattle problem back to the dealership and the car was taken in for the problem to be fixed. The whole of the dash board was taken out and the necessary works carried out. As I picked the car up following a telephone call that the works had been completed, I could still hear the rattles as I drove away from the dealership. I immediately reported the fault since it is intermittent. I arrange and left the car overnight with the dealership to try and ascertain where the rattles came from. On collection, I was informed that no noise could be heard even thought I could he ar it. The dealership arranged for a technician to come out with me on a test drive. Fortunately, the rattles were heard during the test drive and the car was booked in for the repairs to be carried out. The car was picked up at my home address on Monday 15.01.06 and returned on Thursday 19.01.06. As drove to Slough on Saturday 20.01.06, to my horror and dismay, the rattles could still be heard intermittently. Hence the problem has not been fixed Issue: I purchased the car based on the basis that Lexus pride themselves in quietness, reliability, durability and pursues perfection. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The car • creaks in the centre console • creaks on the front passenger door panels • rattle / knock from passenger door/windo w/a frame • rattle from deep inside centre dash I am very disappointed with the quality of this particular Lexus GS and it has come to the point where ENOUGH is ENOUGH. The car is • not as described • not of satisfactory quality • not fit for the purpose Solution: It is therefore my intention to reject the car considering that two attempts have been made to fix the rattles all to no avail. I have a serious concern about the future when the warranty runs out. The rattles could be costly to fix and one of the main considerations for the purchase of the car is durability in this case which it is not. Alternatively, the car is to be replaced with the same or a similar model. Philip Quist

I have just had a call from the manager at the dealership. Apparently, they have another car there with a similar problem. A technician from Japan is road testings it and based on his findings, he will call me tomorrow so that we take things from there. In the meantime, the car is parked on my drive way not being used. I use my wife's peugeot which does not rattle and a third of the price of the Lexus

bought the car used from a main dealer with 13K on the clock. Gone in three times since October 06 for rattle fixes. Car still rattles. Is this a valid reason to reject the car considering this dealer has had 3 chances to fix the car? In that case where do I start from? Anyone here done it before?
