All good thanks mate, just waiting on some drier/warmer weather so I can really enjoy the extra power. Been ultra reliable, hard to know it’s there unless you nail it (doesn’t sound any different during normal driving, only hear the BOV’s on and off).

The pickup is insane though! No lag, and just keeps pulling.... actually lost traction at the top end the other day (so wheels scrabbled at launch, then foot down and lift again as wheels spun at top end! Lol).

The proper LSD, better coilovers and wider wheels and tires will sort it all out though I reckon. If not, may look at Racelogic traction control which we used to great effect on the Supra’s. :driving:

    Glad to hear that Pete.

I’m not surprised about traction issues at the top end TBO given the bhp you now have. The power to weight ratio must put it in the same territory as some serious cars. As a rough calc you must be running around the 380bhp/t mark . It was quick before the SC, must be ballistic now  - it’s going to be a exciting summer!! 👍🏻

  2. Really liked it when I first saw at Goodwood, in the red with tan interior, and liked the fact it looked more like a concept, but I seem to like it less with time. Of course a drive could change that pretty quickly I suspect!!. It’s funny because I actually now prefer the RCF which is a reversal from when I first saw th LC.

@DAW Now out of all of them particular 911 would be the one to go for....

Gen 2 for peace of mind mechanically

C2S for looks equipment and rear drive joy

Aero pack was an expensive option and adds to the looks as well as the functionality

Black....... no no car washing ! only joking looks mean and purposeful

But you made the right choice 😁

    🐀

Had a black Golf VR6 back in the day so know what you mean, but it did look absolutely stunning when all shiny & clean.

Wind has been blowing tiles off houses last night.

    Here is how convo went:

Mrs: "the wind has blown tiles off some houses"

    Me: "What about our house?"

Mrs "You're car is ok don't worry"

    She knows!

That’s conversation would go exactly the same way in our house.  😂

Even my children know their place in the pecking order, which apparently is below the F according to them!! 😉

@FTBBCVoodoo Lee if that's the case there is a very nice........ no the best White one that could be levered from the owners grasp in Warrington for the right money @Warrington guy  I mention this one as the only other equally fantastic White one is @DAW but David would rather sell his kidney first 😂

Afraid so, really can’t  see me parting with it at all. First car I have ever considered keeping for the long term.. I usually change after 3yrs, but now coming up to  4yrs already. Seriously considered a mint 2011 Gen 2 997 C2S in black with the aero pack & only 13k on the clock from Porsche last year. But when it came down to it I couldn’t part with the F - I would have lost money that I would have made that decision a few years back!!

@DAW David I agree sounds perfectly plausible, the kind of HONEST development work that the Japanese put into the higher revving engines has proven to be a better long term second hand bet than the German stuff, don't hear of the Honda S2000 having problems and yet when had there last gt3 revving up to the high eights it's proved disastrous some of them are on there 3/4 engines under warranty.

Which no longer covers them for track work which is what the car was aimed at laughable

    🐀

Wow, I’m actually stunned - that is appalling..

I knew they had issues with the GT3 engines initially, which was embarrassing enough, but to have.that many repeated failures to the point where they won’t actually warranty them for the purpose they were supposed to be designed for is beyond a joke.

Doesn’t exactly encourage you to want own a 911 when you hear this kind of stuff and I thought the 997 Gen 1 bore scoring issue was bad enough!!

The Merc guilty of bhp hold back made up for it with it's torque... and for BMW the m3 out does the isf on the track it's true but I'm not fussed about that  but Lexus were out to prove a point.... if they wanted to by 2010 they could have done more than just the LSD and freed up more of the engines potential to walk over the German super saloons..

Sadly it's left to us enthusiastic boys to do trial and error tuning lol

In the video I’ve seen of a 2008 ISF v M3 & C63 at Silverstone it came second to the M3 by about 1.5 seconds on a 2 min lap and both the German cars had LSDs. Suspect a comparison of the ISF with the LSD would make the M3s advantage virtually disappear.

Back in my youth I test drove a Golf GTi 16v which on paper was superior to the standard 8v GTi. I then drove a friends 8v GTi & it was so much more torquey lower down - I much preferred it to the 16v.. I’m no expert, but perhaps Lexus dilberatley chose a higher capacity / lower bhp to ensure a more usuable balance of torque than some of the more highly tuned engines.

@DAW David absolutely right and Audi and Mercedes they all do it now, still it's good to see that aspect of rubbish bias German car journalism is still alive and kicking....... so I've jumped off my orange box now !

Anyway our tips are functional high quality so there !

And if you've ever wondered what they look like from the other side 🤓

Couldn't agree more re the bias - don't recall ever reading an article complaining about the German manufacturers doing it!!.  We clearly need a bigger box for us all to stand on :wallbash:.

Thanks for posting the photo as I haven't actually ever seen them from that angle (surprise surprise being the mechanical genius that I am :wink3:). They do indeed look far more substantial than I had imagined, which also helps explain the not insignificant price of a replacement!!

    Big Rat

Well done Paul you got further than I did with them.  Lexus told me about their exhausts at Goodwood, but when I called they said there were not enough cars / interest to make it worth their while to do it for the ISF.

  11. Thats amazing progress to be picking it up on Monday Pete - very impressive. Will definitely keep SRD in mind for any work I want to do away from Lexus. I had them in mind for installing the USRS’s, on your recommendation, If I hadn’t already renewed my warranty for another 2 years. Hence why I didn’t join the recent USRS group buy you very kindly organised.  Still keen to do it at some point but H&S exhaust my 1st priority in the new year & no warranty.issues with that.

Hadn’t t realised the supercharger was so compact. I was expecting it to be nestled on top of the engine in the more usual configuration - I presume due to lack of space?. This is more like a turbo set up. You will have to explain all the pipe work/cooling when I get the opportunity to see it  lol.

Excitement must be building for 1st drive on Monday. 😉

  12. Bloody Hell - Frighten!! is the right word to those of us who are less mechanically minded.  Last time I saw one of my cars looking like that, it was an Audi with a huge bill at the end of it.

Surprisingly swift progress - certainly shows they know their stuff & great that they are documenting it so well for you.

Keep us posted Pete & be great to start a thread on this.

    Thanks David.

Car made 474.1hp at the flywheel this morning. That's a gain of 56hp from the last run on the same dyno etc.

Lee and the guys will hopefully have started the supercharger install when they got it back from the dyno. Nice thing for next year will be a dyno actually at SRD, so we can maybe do another rolling road day over there? Be nice to see a few F's on the rollers, good fun seeing how they do I find.

Think they were a little frightened at the sheer scale of parts involved, but I think they'll get over it once they get stuck in.

    Hope so anyway! Lol. :wink3:

That's an impressive gain for a naturally aspirated setup - you must be pleased.  I'm not surprised, it certainly felt significantly more rapid than the standard setup.

Look forward to seeing the final setup at some point & hope all goes smoothly at SRD.
