  1. I'm not sure about CD-RW's but I use copied CD-R's all the time with no problem mate. Try doing a search for more info, but I'm sure someone will be along to tell you for sure.
  2. have you tried eBay?? Seen a couple pop up from time to time.. I think halfords will do std ones..
  3. Damn.. I'd say it looks like a right off too mate. Then again would you have wanted it back after knowing how mangled it once was? ;) From previously been hit by a lorry in my old car.. it never quite felt the same.. Hope the new year brings you some more luck..
  4. I've been using them for the past few years on my Lexus and Avensis. Virtually my whole family has them, on Hondas, Boras etc. Yes they are expensive, but you will be impressed! Only cheap place is Hong Kong or USA I just get them from the PIAA dealer - approx £85 inc VAT and P&P. Go on... treat yourself!! B) Or if $$$ is an issue, take woodsy's option..
  5. Some of the distributors let you try various bulbs to see which ones you prefer, before buying them... :winky:
  6. Try Piaa.co.uk they do some very good bulbs, but are expensive. I have been using the spark blue bulbs for a few years now and I'm very pleased with them. Try the white series..
  7. Hi Purvesh, Thanks very much for your reply! Seems that Lex owners are quite a friendly and welcoming bunch! I also dealt with Andrew Fairbairn from Sales - extremely friendly chap (I know that the service dep also has an Andrew there). I've got myself an 02 reg IS200 Sport Aero Sat Nav (with the big 18" wheels :D ) 1) The remote keys work wonders in certain places, and is a real pain at other times - i read some other posts on LOC that things like Mobile masts and wireless TV transmitter things in your house affect it... 2) So this isn't worth speaking to a Lex dealer about? Was going to say "Can I test drive a new/nearly new one", to see if it does the same... I thought that the Sport does have a "Short Shifter"? Or is this something else? :duh: 3) LOL! Luckily I know exactly how to get to Tun Wells Lex! Erm... who's "Colin"? 4) Funnyly enough they actually messed up my name on the order forms, warranty docs etc. (got my names wrong way around...), probably wont forget me in a while too! :P ← Yeah I was talking about Andrew Lynch from Lexus Service.. Your right there are posts about interference from transmitters etc, but I'm not too sure what the fix was - or if there was one!? By all means raise the clutch problem with them and see what they say. You may find that the new one doesn't have the same "characteristic" as yours. The short shifter I'm talking about is something else - have a look under mods and tuning - "TRD quick shift", some members have had these fitted and wouldn't go back to standard. Speak to Prolex-Uk. Colin is the knowledge master here at LOC :winky:
  8. Hi mate, Tunbridge Wells is also my local lexus centre and have been going there for a number of years previously with my Avensis. Andrew from Lexus and John from Toyota are very helpful. Speaking to the service chap, the labour rate for Lexus is around £94 compared to Toyota's £74.50. He actually told me it's the same "labour" but you pay a premium price for a luxury motor.. What is the spec of your car?? Going to your questions: 1). Not sure - I've never had any problems. If your having interference with this set, I'm not sure a new set will react any differently? 2). The manuals are known for this - as you are well aware.. Some owners find after a short period of time you get used to it, or if you do a search, there was something about holding the clutch in for slightly longer when shifting between 1st and 2nd - to minimise the clunk. Or you may want to invest in a short-shifter 3). Keep a look out on eBay, or Colin may have one on sale soon. If yours is a 2001, you'll notice the T/Wells Lexus Centre isn't actually on there! 4). they are a very good dealership . Mention my name, I'm sure they remember me Welcome to LOC, it only gets better from here, Purvesh
  9. Like aido said, see Tony, I'm planning too after Xmas.. give him a ring before hand: 01923 234666 Only in Watford, not too far from you.. Better to be safe than sorry, especially with all new tyres. U go for than OEM Lexus Dunlops in the end?
  10. This is what I mean mate.. I'm not sure on how much to move it forward??
  11. Since I've bought the car I've noticed the Sat Nav system shows the car to be behind the actual location of the vehicle. This causes the "Exit coming up" message to be delayed. How do I pinpoint the cars position?? I've looked at the manual and played around on the system, but don't seemed to understand fully. The map isn't that clear for me to pinpoint exactly where the car is on there, to reposition it. Any tips?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Purvesh
  12. That's great news... Let us know how you get on with the new gearbox.
  13. The P-zeros tend to wear out a lot quicker too..
  14. I see.... Thanks for clearing that up mate!
  15. http://www.roadsafetyuk.co.uk/camnews.htm M25 Cameras Net £600,000 in fines Since February 2004. A string of cameras being used to enforce a 40 mph stretch through roadworks of the M25 motorway has caught 10,000 drivers since they were activated in February. Many people think that variable speed limits should be in place and that to enforce a 40 mph limit at two o’clock in the morning is unreasonable. This particular stretch is between junctions 12 and 14 and once that has been widened the 40 mph limit will be moved to between junctions 14 and 15. On this occasion the £60 fixed penalty fines will go entirely into government coffers and not into police funds because it is a national motorway project. The lower limits imposed at roadworks are there to protect the workforce and it is essential that drivers are aware of the dangers. In the case of the M25, electronic signs in the central reservation show the number of speeding offences recorded since the roadworks began. I got it from here, and assumed as there was no mention of 3 points you wouldn't get any?! I've had a fixed penalty of £30 but no points, when I had a mis-spaced number plate..
  16. lol... I knew you'd be pick up on it! It'll be a good excuse to try and get some more miles out of a tank. The car just seems to be soo thirsty on Optimax, I've been running on it for the past three months - would've thought the ECU would have learnt by now! Think I'll reset it and see if it makes a difference.
  17. Update.. The dealer changed the complete belt under warranty. :D Thanks chaps..
  18. My cars going in here for some work, and I was wondering if anyone was from around the area - works are going to be done by "Autoclenz.com" Thanks
  19. Thats really good going compared to some of the miles people have had to change theirs..did I see 8000 somewhere?! Mines done 24k on the rear bridgestones, think I should get to 30k..."he says... "
  20. but scarface, do you know what happens if you get snapped on the m25 between J14 and J12 (where the road works are). I've heard thats it's just a fixed penalty of £60 and not 3 points aswell? Thanks
  21. That wouldn't have messed your alignment up, as they would have just removed your tyres from the original wheels and balanced them onto the new ones. 5mm would last you a fair few miles, I think I'll be checking mine on a regular too!
