  1. Tried with the dashcam unplugged, and the signal was much better, able to get stations on several networks, thanks again, Tony. BUT....I don't want to lose the dashcam, and the plug is moulded onto the dashcam lead. So it looks as though it's one or the other. I must say I'm not impressed that using the ciggy socket wipes out the DAB, and obviously it's not only on my car.
  2. Thanks for the tip, Tony, and yes, I do. My dashcam is permanently plugged in, but it's in the centre armrest, quite a way from the radio. However, I'll try unplugging it, and report back.
  3. DAB in mine is useless too, and when I took it into Lexus MK for its first service, I asked for it to be looked at. so when I picked it up, they said they couldn't find anything wrong, but the DAB signal was very bad there anyway........ To add insult to injury, the NX courtesy car they lent me had a much better DAB performance! Thankfully most of the stations I listen to are on FM, and the tone is much better IMHO.
  4. Not so good discovery/development........ I like the steering wheel close to me, but recently I've found that i have to adjust it every few days, as it's 'crept' in towards the dashboard. On a car that's done less than 8,000 miles, it's not ideal. Anyone else had this?
  5. Hi Ian, Further to my earlier post, as mine is a lease car, I used the 12v socket in the armrest, using the plug that came with the camera. All the wiring is hidden behind trim, the only bit that's visible, and then only if you are really looking for it, is a couple of inches as it enters the armrest cubby at the side of the driver's seat. Camera comes on with the ignition, I occasionally check it's recording, but otherwise it's fit and forget, hopefully it'll never be needed........ hope this helps, and that you enjoy your car! Malcolm
  6. This one made me chuckle....... removed the boot floor carpet to vacuum it, and saw, underneath it, that Lexus had provided a plastic bag, labelled "put the deflated wheel and tyre in this bag so you don't get your luggage compartment dirty" What do they expect you to put on the car when you've put the wheel in the bag, as THERE AIN'T NO SPARE WHEEL!!
  7. Mine is the worst Bluetooth connection I've ever had, just the same as the OP, but the phone (iPhone 5s) works on Mrs Baxlin's Skoda, and her 4s and my old faithful Nokia 6310 work on the Lexus. So there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.
  8. No, I haven't, as out of ignorance, if I want manual mode I press the button once to switch auto off. In my first reply, I suppose what I meant was I've never seen the need to go through this process, as with the wipers set to auto, if an extra wipe or two is needed, I just flick the stalk upwards for one wipe, repeating if necessary. But obviously I have missed something, so I'll try it and see what is different.
  9. I think I missed something here, Jimmy, sorry! This morning, with the wipers on Auto setting, I just flicked the stalk upwards for a single sweep, and the auto setting wasn't affected.

  11. Thanks, Steve, I don't think I have the latest IOS, I'll check. and yes the Satnav is as you guessed.
  12. Resurrecting this thread, I have now paired my old Nokia 6310 and have no problems. So it's literally just this phone with this car, as other phones work in this car, and this phone works in other cars (my previous Merc OEM fitting, and Mrs Baxlin's Skoda with aftermarket.) And it's the same with whoever calls me, so it's not restricted to one caller. But it really is unusable at the moment. The one downer on enjoyment of the Lexus. MAlcolm
  13. Thanks, Mark, I will try to add a film, but I don't like the look of carbon fibre, so it'll be either clear or plain black. Lee, yes I do wear cufflinks, and a wedding ring!
  14. I discovered yesterday that the 'Sport/Eco/Normal' knob on my car is getting quite scratched, at fewer than 4000 miles. As I just leave the car in Normal mode, I very rarely use this, if ever, apart from 'playing' early on in ownership, so the scratches aren't done that way. The siting of the EV button has been moaned about before, and I have to assume it's the close proximity of the two that's caused the scratches, as I do use the EV button regularly in town, and must have caught the sport knob while blindly searching for it. Any other explanation? (preferably clean)
  15. That's just it, Dan, it is down to opinion. That's why I have my signature. If you think black/carbon splits opinions, you ought to own a completely impractical three wheeler car with no roof or reverse gear...........
  16. As has been said many times before, each to his own, and it's your car, but not for me. It might look better in white, but not as is. sorry
  17. I can't think of one, but as Colin said, there's lots of trim to tuck the cable behind. My front dash cam takes power from the armrest socket, with the cable totally hidden. I have been thinking of using a double socket adaptor in the armrest point, and using this as the power for a rear facing camera. My question though, is what camera, an how/where to mount it, if I can do a partial thread hijack.
  18. Fortunately I've found the button which takes me straight to the latest posts, but while thanking the mods/webmaster for providing the forum, I do prefer the old style, and if still available, would use it
  19. Thanks, Colin, hope it won't happen again, though!
  20. Against the trend a bit on here, I really like chrome (or plastic chrome more like) on a car, I suppose back in the day - I've been driving over 50 years - black trim shouted "basic model" with chrome only fitted to deluxe variants. But that's not my reason for the post. It was mentioned it's not possible to do anything about the orange indicators. I'm sure chrome bulbs, which light up Amber, are available to fit the Lexus, I've done this mod on my last 4 or 5 cars, and removes the fried egg look completely. Two reasons I've not done it on the Lexus, it's a lease car, and looking at the handbook, it's a real pain to change the indicator bulbs, having to remove this and that, so I decided not to bother!
  21. Car is IS300h Advance, with standard Satnav. Driving into London last evening, to a part I've not been to before, therefore relying on the Satnav, I somehow caused all the functions available on the display screen to freeze. I lost the Satnav, couldn't alter the radio volume or change station, etc, none of the knobs or buttons would do anything. I say I caused it to fail, my passenger took a phone call ( not paired to the car) and in the dark I was trying to silence the Satnav voice, which I wish was easier to do (!), and assume I must have hit two buttons together or something, because it was quite a while after we noticed the Satnav wasn't working, just a static map. The good news is, when held up by traffic lights, I switched the power off, computer-fix-style, and restarted it, and everything came back. Anyone else had this happen, or know what would have actually caused it? malcolm
  22. A bit like Rolls Royce and the golf tees in the old joke??
  23. I fitted them to my IS300h, only had +ve comments
  24. That's interesting, thanks. We had our first snowfall last night, and I had to go out this morning. With the Lexus being RWD auto, and the Skoda being FWD manual, and with narrower tyres, I took the Fabia............
  25. HEATED SEATS..... Used mine in earnest today, and was a tad disappointed to find only the centre bit is heated, and the side support cushions aren't. Makes the cold bit even more noticeable!
