  1. Although I have really enjoyed 2 and a bit years with my 2013 C Class, the new one was just not on my list - short or long - because of that awful screen, looks like an iPad blu-tacked onto the dashboard. Malcolm
  2. Hi, Kam, welcome to the club, literally - I've done exactly the same as you, but coming from a Mercedes diesel to a hybrid lexus. And I chose it for my next company car, like you, without a test drive, but I have been to a few dealers and had a good look round. Due to take delivery in the first week of August - the Merc goes on 7th, so I hope there's no delay! Thanks for starting this thread, I'll follow it with interest Malcolm
  3. makes the 500cc V-twin in my 3wheeler look a wee bit small, but with Harley silencers, it can hold its own in the sound stakes, but like the V8, without being unsociable! Doesn't need the top down though, on the basis it ain't got one. Or side windows. Or wipers, as the screen isn't tall enough to need them.Great fun. Malcolm
  4. Am I justified in an "oh b***er"? Awaiting delivery of my Advance in a couple of weeks, but saw an offer (as a pop-up ad on a non-Lexus website) of an IS 300h Advance Plus. Anyone know of this, and have I ordered mine too soon? Malcolm
  5. Read this out to Mrs Baxlin (45+ years driving). Her reply??"And your point is?"
  6. I have a similar method, only instead of buying greased lightning, I buy Meguiars Last Touch by the US Gallon via ebay, and dilute it 1:1. Decant it into a spray bottle, and use it after each wash, but I agree, deffo NOT as a waterless wash.Malcolm
  7. I had a free choice for my next lease, within self-imposed cost limit. Currently have C220, I'd almost settled on an Audi A6, then I received an email offering great terms on an IS300h...... Have to admit I'd never considered a Lexus, let alone a hybrid, being a long term diesel fan. But it didn't take long for me to be convinced, and I take delivery of an Advance in Arctic Pearl at the end of this month. Malcolm
  8. First car - Morris 8 convertible, 1937, followed by 1953 Anglia, Morris 1000 Traveller, 1961 Frogeye Sprite, HB Viva, classic Mini Then my car nadir, 1300 Allegro..... Then variously Rover 75, SAAB 93 convertible, C220 Merc. Bikes? Norton 350, Honda VT250, CX500, Yam XS400, etc Current toy, a CX500 engined Morganesque 3wheeler which I built in the late 90s. See avatar pic As you might gather, I'm a little older than previous posters! Best looking car? Sunbeam Talbot 90, the Alpine convertible version, there's a superb example in the Gaydon Heritage Museum.
  9. X2 for using the interior light. I wired footwell lights in a previous car taking the feed from here. Worked very well.
  10. The new IS300h Advance I'm waiting for has heated ventilated seats. I assumed this just meant that the leather had holes in it. Is that the case? Or is there something else as well - have I read about cooling? Thanks malcolm
  11. Discussed a date for delivery..................
  12. Surprised at that mpg, is it manual or auto? I've had mine since new (13 reg), it's now done 21000 miles, no rattles, quiet for a diesel - in fact silent at the side of my b-i-l's Mondeo. From what I've read on here, the Lexus won't return the mpg I'm getting, but as petrol is cheaper than diesel, it shouldn't matter. Can't wait to get it!
  13. I'm very interested in this thread, as although I haven't tried the C300 Hybrid, my current daily drive is a manual C220 Exec, with stop-start. This is due to be replaced at the beginning of next month by an IS300h Advance. I've thoroughly enjoyed the last two years with the Merc, in particular the fairly amazing mpg, but it will be good to go back to an auto. So if this thread's still open, I could well revisit............. Malcolm
  14. Had no problems with Adrian Flux for quite a few years with the 3 wheeler, for a "parts only" policy, but moved this year to another broker, as AF initially quoted a much higher premium, then offered their "price match" when I'd found a better deal. To do this once was OK (I stayed with them last year when the same happened) but when I saved over 25% by moving this year, they'd tried it on once too often. Malcolm
  15. Age 68, and soon to get my first Lexus - currently drive Merc C-Class, 2 cars ago I had a Rover 75 - now that could be said to be an old man's car! BUT - my other car is in my avatar photo, a sports 3 wheeler, not a replica, but a tribute to the 1930s Morgan. Honda V-twin up front, red-lined at 9500 revs, sequential 5 speed box, all in all quite a bit of fun.......... Malcolm
  16. Sounds like I'm not the only one who can't find a space in an empty car park!!!
  17. Great thread, looking to pick up my Advance in early August, Arctic White met paint being the only extra I ordered. Not had a reversing camera before, should be interesting.
  18. That's interesting, I've only ever heard of handbrake freezing on an Alfa Guilietta. Why does it happen on the Lexus? Even the Rover 75 with a weird dedicated handbrake DRUM (discs all round for the service/foot brakes) didn't suffer from this.

    Hello!

Hi all, VERY new member here, in fact I don't even have a Lexus as yet, my new IS300h Advance is due for delivery at the beginning of August, and I'm really looking forward to driving it. Currently have a Mercedes C220, so a bit of a change from manual diesel to auto petrol hybrid! Malcolm
