  1. Steve, as Ed said, the auto light function is adjustable, see posts 12 to 16 on this thread.HTH Malcolm
  2. I kerbed the nsf wheel on my Merc a few months before the lease ran out, and I didn't want to pay £££ for a refurb, just to kerb it again, so I spent £12 on a diy "refurb" kit, car model specific, via eBay. It contained small pieces of 4 grades of wet and dry paper, a filler paint, a colour paint, and a lacquer. I had read not to use the brushes inside the bottles of paint, but to use a decent artist's brush. I took care over the repair, and while I could see it, no one else, including the two lease company inspectors, if they noticed, said a word. So, particularly if I knew I wasn't keeping the car for ever, I'd try this first, before shelling out on professional refurb
  3. First thing in the morning over the last few days, the inside of the screen is misted when I get in the car, so I press the "clear windscreen" button, and it clears fairly quickly. So far so good, but it also blasts cold air out of the top vent at the extreme edge of the dashboard, obviously to clear the side window. Except the side window ain't fogged, and it's not a very well aimed blast of (at that time!) cold air - it seems most of it hits my face. Unfortunately that vent isn't adjustable. But I'm happy that this is one of very few niggles I have with the car....................
  4. Just mowed my lawn, never done that just before Christmas before, but it was looking so long and uncared for. What a difference it's made to the whole garden!
  5. I just put a fan heater in the car for ten or fifteen minutes before I get in. Not only does it defrost the windows, but it also warms the cabin.
  6. Thanks all round. Not had chance to check as yet - presumably "settings" is "set-up" in the menu.
  7. It makes every sense, thanks! So, IIRC, if I use the down arrow key, the next screen is blank, the next is the Eco/energy flowchart, then blank, then back to mpg. I must admit, I've not noticed the highlighted bit moving with the page change. I'll check tomorrow. Another discovery!!
  8. OK, before I start, I have R'dTFM! On the MFD, on the screen which gives the mpg, and just to the right of the blue instant readout of mpg, there is a vertical grey bar, with a bit of it highlighted. What does it indicate, please? Can't find it in the manual. Thanks in advance.
  9. Folks who get into my IS300h Advance cannot get over how quiet and smooth it is - but it's spoilt, IMO, by the lower profile tyres - 45s - so much tyre noise on just about all but the newest/smoothest roads. I think part of it though could be the car is so quiet in every other respect! And on the subject of performance/chuckability, we did a 300 mile round trip over the last couple of days, and Mrs Baxlin remarked at one point that my driving style had changed since I've had the Lexus, so much less hurried, more relaxed. I put it down to the Eco meter thingy, I try to avoid the white "power" area of the gauge altogether.
  10. My IS300h advance is 3 months and 2000 miles old, and as yet no rattles at all, and both Mrs Baxlin and I consider me to be intolerant to rattles. I hate them! I have an occasional passenger who will insist on putting his overlarge set of keys in the glove box - I've now put a rolled-up hi viz jacket in there to cushion his keys! My main noise gripe is that this is the first car I've had with low-ish profile tyres, 17 in wheels with 45 profile tyres, and the car is more susceptible to differing road surfaces, when transmitting road noise than previous cars. My Merc for instance rode on 16" wheels with 55 profile tyres, and had much less tyre noise. Having said that, this is by far the quietest car I've ever had.
  11. For being political, but on the in or out of the EU referendum, does a YES vote mean yes we stay in, or yes we come out?
  12. You are correct, the lines are static. Interesting about the split screen. As you can guess, I'm still exploring the world of Lexus!
  13. On my (standard spec) Advance, the reversing camera is on the satnav screen, and comes on when reverse is selected regardless of what's on the screen. It has the marker lines, very helpful, as the red line gives just room still to access the boot. Not seen one which projects onto the rear view mirror, don't think I would want to lose the mirror, as I use it in conjunction with the camera view.
  14. Sorry, David, when rereading the original boot lid comment I see I for one "sprang" (is that a word?) to the wrong conclusion.
  15. I'm also confused about the boot lid comments - on my 2 month old IS300h the bootlid doesn't rise at all when released, either by the dashboard button or the key fob, it literally just releases the lock. In fact it's hard to see if it is unlocked. On my Merc C220 it nearly took your nose off if you weren't careful!
  16. thanks for the comment, but why? The phone works fine in other cars it's paired to!You have given me an idea though, I'll pair my other phone - a old 6310 I keep in the glovebox for when I forget my 5s - and check.
  17. I use an iPhone 5s, via Bluetooth, and I have no problems hearing what is being said to me, but everyone I call says they can't hear me, or tell what I say. I have gone into setup, and the transmission volume is on max. I used the same phone in my Mercedes, with no problems at all. Anyone else have this problem with their Lexus, or have any ideas? Thanks Malcolm
  18. If you buy a spacesaver, I would think it's important that its storage space is large enough to take the full size wheel, as it's Murphy's law that you'll get a puncture when the boot's full of luggage, and the cabin's full of passengers..................
  19. Oh dear, with all this snow on the way, I think I'll hibernate - the Lexus is rear wheel drive automatic, and the JZR is a single rear wheel, rear wheel drive threewheeler. What chance have I got.............................. On the other hand, I'll probably do the same as I've done for the last 50+ years: Drive according to, and as allowed by, the conditions. Malcolm
  20. I have to admit I've not noticed this, as I always dry the door shuts and the door edges, I keep an older microwave cloth for this purpose. I also do the wheels before I dry the car to give it more time to drip dry.
  21. Thanks, Ed, Why didn't you write the manual? Malcolm
  22. I love the way on the VFR the propstand is faired into the bodywork when folded away, nice touch.
  23. One thing that niggles me on the IS300h is the amber indicator bulbs. I call it the "fried egg" look, an amber centre in a white background! On previous cars, I have changed these for chrome-looking ones that light up amber, and unlit, are just about invisible. But, on reading the manual, it seems half the car has to be dismantled to change the indicator bulb, and then only if you have minute hands. Have I misread it, or is it really that difficult? Malcolm
  24. Yep it can be adjusted. To Baxlin......RTFM :P :D Believe me, I did, but couldn't find how to do it, at least in the 'lights' section. Do you have the page #, please? TIA, Malcolm
