  1. I completely agree that you get what you pay for, - and buying cheap sometimes means you buy twice. HOWEVER (!), I can vouch for Chris Knott, - I have been using them for decades on & off, and found their custom service to be personable & excellent. Realising how that sounds, I should say that I have absolutely no affiliation with them 🙂 I'd be hugely interested in any other insurance company recommendations 👍
  2. I usually change insurers every year, however, for the last three years no-one has been able to beat Chris Knott. Adrian's Flux's quote was double. I don't even bother with comparison websites anymore as they don't come close either. I was about to call Hastings direct to see what they can offer, but can't find a phone number anywhere! Ridiculous
  3. The radiator was changed during the last service... - which was about 2 - 3 months ago.... I've left it with the garage to do back there when it's dry, and I'll demonstrate the issue to one of their mechanics. I will definitely mention the water intake possibility
  4. Garage had a look and cannot find anything! Unfortunately it was wet so when they "floored" it they couldnt recreate the problem. So i'm off to pick up my car and pay them £50 labour! Really not sure what I can do now, other than continue driving, and give it back to them when it's dry!?
  5. My car is driving fine, no warning lights, I can even accelerate pretty quickly no problems. However, if I totally 'floor' it, - it suddenly produces a loud screeching sound and power is lost? It's going into the garage tomorrow, however both they and myself have no idea what might be the problem? Any ideas?
  6. Thanks. I do have an excess of £75, which is cheaper than the accident accident access of £250. I guess £75 will be less than cost of a second hand window and labour... so may as well go for it...
  7. I just presumed they only covered the front window... - good point - I'll call them!
  8. It's a 05 which means it's in the higher tax bracket than the 04 also (last time I checked, which admittedly, was a while ago!)
  9. After the cold months, when I attempted to wind down my off-side, rear passenger window, it stuck for a moment, then went, but cracked the window. Can anyone advise on what I need to replace it, - as I looking to buy one from a salvage dealer. Is it simply the window, or do I need to purchase much more? Many thanks
  10. That's really helpful, many thanks Mark. Garry - the problem is occurring on a car I am considering buying.
  11. Reach adjustment is working, height adjustment isn't. Can anyone tell me what parts are required to fix this and advise on rough cost? Is there anywhere cheap to source parts and get an indy to do it?
  12. Would anyone be able to recommend an LPG company around the London/surrounding area that has experience with Lexi/LS430s?
  13. Really helpful - thankyou everyone for taking the time to help! Amazing actually, to read that the 430 is noisier than the 400, as I found the 430 very quiet indeed! Slightly more comforting to read that the suspension problems are more common on the pre-facelift 430s. Oh that's interesting that I couldn't just get a local indy to fit coilovers, I am sure I read from someone who had done that in the past. Would a Lexus dealer fit non-standard coilovers though, or would they only replace like for like?
  14. My main concern is the air suspension. What are the chances of it failing due to water getting into the height sensors on our very wet UK roads? And if I change to coilovers, how much difference is the suspension? I have read mixed reports, some say they can't tell the difference, others saying that it's definitely not as nice a ride. Rear air-con failure I could probably live with & the rear cracked subwoofer looks like it's easily solvable with some glue! How often is it worth replacing the radiator (to negate the risk of getting water in the gearbox)? Also - LPG conversions - are they reliable? Or do they introduce even more complexity and problems This caught my eye on ebay - anyone know this car or care to comment? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-Lexus-LS430-LPG-Custom-Interior-Exhaust-/201497101722?hash=item2eea29c59a:g:hDgAAOSwv-NWZLvn Looks like LS400 is a safer buy (and I haven't written off the idea) but I think a 430 is more my cup of tea and I would be happier with one of those. Other option I am considering is a s-type... Many thanks for any help!
  15. Why list it as a different seller? Strange. Same location so presuming same seller.
