  1. if you have 20 minutes...... now venturing into #your business is important/we are experiencing busy......i.e looking for insurance!
  2. Just taken possession of an immaculate 3 litre Camry, 1998, so my thoughts of coming back to another LS 400 are void- hope I’m not tempting fare here. 69K miles, amazing paint ceramic coating -apparently - plus (messi rated?) Lano sealed underneath. All I have to do is get reacquainted with the size again! It purrs, said deliverer! I’ll still be popping up on here, I’m sure. Steve2000 has a link to a YouTube vid (as I’m too Luddite to know how to post it now.)
  3. Ejector seat. it should have DO NOT PRESS in big red letters.
  4. Do you ‘have to’ have them, legally,or is it that they’re interconnected to the computer in the car,to driving detriment?
  5. I recently saw a car advertised…was it a Lexus?…where the seller had had the sunroof sealed. As my partner isn’t a fan of ‘wind in her hair’, this would suit me. Anyone share this approach? Would seem to solve one source of water.
  6. Something to be said for the KISS approach? Seems like overkill, to have to have £300 worth (‘worth’?) of gizmos just to tell you tyres -which are meant to stay inflated, need attention. Surely easier to check manually every so often?
  7. Can you not (use string?) measure the existing ones? Then compare with the other side.
  8. A bit tenuous maybe, but, when I had a Citroen DS23, parked in supermarket-on-corner car park, I came out to find ALL the cars had been stabbed with 2 tyres each car, flat Luckily I’d broken a DS earlier and had 5 spare wheels. Changing tyres on a DS is a breeze-you utilise the hydro-pneumatic system, up,down, up and…..done! ……broken a DS! Sacrilege!!
  9. Luckily, the AA says that the average motorist gets a flat tyre every 97,000 miles. (I think it was). So fingers crossed…..but not whilst driving! Avon bridge can be seen from our garden. Chris, (hoping to sell RAV4 so I can be back in a Lexus again)
  10. I guess the thought of just how fast the traffic goes as well? I recall seeing a car doing a spin on the m5 about 100 metres ahead and all hell broke out! At 70+ there’s no room to stop given how close people drive….the ‘two chevrons thing doesn’t apply to me’ mentality? Combine the chance of a front wheel blow-out with a multiple shunt from a few trucks and THEN test the railings strength? The Avon bridge was closed completely a few years back after a fatality/shunt there. Meant a 12 mile detour for weeks after, mostly going past our house! I may be over cautious but I always try to keep a good space ahead when crossing the Avon bridge now.
  11. Yes,I always drive in the ‘middle’ lane coming home (Bristol) from Portishead, not wanting to be SO close to the rail and a plunge!! I think the s-bound side either has a gap,OR the wall is a bit high. Can’t say I want to stop en route to check! Though you can walk over/cycle over the river there. There’s a nice river walk below called locally, “The yellow brick road’ -its yellow enough though not brick. River has been very high lately, flooded the train line.
  12. It was on south-wards side.Vaulting over the fence is definitely not a good idea; there IS a separate footpath/roadway there, for maintenance and cycles, but there is a gap with potential drop into the Avon or the nature reserve along the river! No it wasn’t a Lex.Just a triangle plus a worried driver.
  13. Narada Michael Walden, ‘The Dance of life’
  14. Saw one in use only yesterday! On the apogee of the bridge over the Avon on M5! WHAT a place to break down! No way to escape….
  15. Anyone else needs a RAV4 ,just get in touch! Apologies for mis-using your string! Couldn’t resist! (i AM selling to buy an LS!)
  16. It’s going to be interesting if I manage to buy a(nother!) LS400 (ser 4). Reading this string……not sure if I’m put off,or educated! Brilliant.
  17. I’m holding on to info that there’s a good custom fabricators just over the hill from me, for the day I get an LS430.
  18. Car and classic site have a lovely Citroen cx Prestige that I’d have once I won on ERNIE.
  19. I’ve always thought that a Toroid tank, situated in the wheel well in boot, was the best solution. But, having seen a 430 using a ‘cylinder’ located just behind the rear seats, it looks as if there’s still quite a useable boot space. i don’t know the capacity of this cylinder-does anyone have lpg using this? I might be converted! All I have do is sell my RAV 3door car and I’ll be back to Lexus!
  20. Set right thought the sound system in the LS400 was the best he’d heard. As a music/hifi fan,it’s a large part of my liking the cars.
  21. You need a 1948 Cadillac fast-back! There are some Japanese import Lex 600s about,at lower price; I spied a lovely white on for…..£8K, if I remember correctly. not as many folk want big cars,to our benefit!
