  1. An update from the dealer: "My apologies for the confusion, I thought you were asking for the protection plate which is not available for your vehicle. The product enhancement for your vehicle has not been released to the network yet and we have not been given an ETA on when it will be provided." So it looks as if the April 26 date in the orginal statement from Lexus was primarily to get Watchdog off their backs - or am I being too cynical?

I sent an email to my local dealer, saying that Lexus had advised that they would be given details of a security enhancement by the end of April, and asking whether they had received it, and when they would be contacting me. This is the reply I received: My name is **** and I would like to thank you for contacting Lexus ****. Your enquiry has been received and I will be sure to follow up with you directly or pass your enquiry along to the most suitable person to respond. Your vehicle is not affected by this recall.   3. These are awards made by Lexus to the dealers in their network. There is no paying to enter, and not 'everyone is a winner' because clearly some dealers didn't win anything. It's who Lexus GB believe are best in these categories.

  6. Since the update, my route guidance seems a little peculiar. It was taking me out of London on a major A road, but as I approached an underpass, the guidance told me to leave the main road and go to the roundabout above the underpass, take the second exit at the roundabout, and rejoin the same major A road. I don't think any of the options in the route selection menu would make it do that.
  7. I had that screen. The solution I eventually found was to delete the car from 'my garage' on the app (I use Android), and then add the car again by scanning the QR code. I did send Lexus an email asking for a solution to the problems caused by the 'upgrade' - that was two weeks ago, and I'm still waiting for a response.
  8. I emailed Customer Services over a week ago, asking for advice on how to elimate the need to adjust the data settings every time I started the car. I'm still waiting for a reply. Whatever happened to Lexus' reputation for customer service? Omotenashi - In other words, the most abiding impression is likely to come from the way a customer is made to feel rather than a knowledge of the level of features on offer.
  9. I hope we're not going to see an increase in the rate of thefts prior to the end of April, while the thieves try to get as many as they can before they become harder to steal.

  11. The Lexus response talks about 'security hardware'. To me, this sounds like more plates restricting access, rather than enhancements to the canbus security system, which I would call software.
  12. I went through all the settings on mine on Saturday, and put them back to how i thought they should be. The car sent its status to my phone that afternoon, so I thought it had worked. I used the car again yesterday (as you do), and the status is still showing dated Saturday, and the trips from last week are still not showing. The map display also doesn't look as clear, although i wouldn't like to say exactly what is different about it. I'm not particularly interested in whether my car was locked last Saturday - how about today?
  13. I have real problems after the update. I allowed it to update while I was on a journey away from home. I'm now away from home, but it's deleted my home address. How am I going to find my way home?

  15. I can't view the image (I'm not going to download software just to access it), but if you've got a new car at 2 weeks old with a warning light, then of course you should call Lexus and ask them. What would you do if this forum wasn't here?
  16. Last year I paid £760; this year's renewal quote is £1,135. I've tried the comparison sites, and the cheapest is about £970, but for equivalent cover (Europe, Legal, Protected NCB) it's about £1,100. Lexus Insurance want £1,220. I thought I'd try Adrian Flux, as they have their own dedicated page on the forum - £3,300. They did say I should phone them to see if they could improve on that!

  18. There just seems to be a shortage of decent sized family saloons that will run on petrol, and are not plug in hybrids. I don't need an SUV, but manufacturers seem to be forcing us down that road.

  20. I would be very wary of a telematics policy given the proliferation of 20 mph speed limits. I must confess I don't always drive at 19 mph on all dual carriageways.

  22. I'm not sure how you organise a group of owners and a face to face meeting with the CEO if they don't want to play. If people want to escalate this, would a more logical approach be to bring the subject to the notice of a magazine like What Car, and point out to them the lack of action by Lexus GB, the removal of posts on the subject from Lexus blogs on security, the increase in insurance costs, and the refusal of Lexus GB to admit there is a problem? I think they would probably be interested to hear from the Lexus Owners Club on the subject.
  23. If you do buy a Stoplock, you need the Pro Elite. The manufacturer's guide says the Stoplock Pro fits, but it doesn't - it fouls on the airbag/horn push.
  24. I don't think you can use a Gift Card balance to buy gift cards - you have to buy them with fresh funds. I tried to do this earlier this month.
  25. Let's put it this way - my car was built in September 2022, and I took delivery in December 2022. I was told it was MY 23. MY23 was the first year they added canbus encryption; I assume mine has it because when some scrotes tried to steal mine, they unclipped the front wing, and disconnected the headlamp, but didn't manage to steal it. It also has the revised multimedia as fitted to the NX, which I believe was a change for MY23. I did also spend all my working life working for car importers and manufacturers!
