  1. Most people find the ES a lot quieter than the IS!
  2. I enjoyed the last wait so much that I'm tempted to order another one just to experience it again! (Not really.)
  3. According to the Portbury Dock website, the Oregon Highway is due to arrive on 25 February. https://www.bristolport.co.uk/shipping/forward-movements
  4. Has anyone got any experience of Prima Insurance? They seem to be offering the cheapest quotes (by about £100), and they have a 5* DeFacto rating.
  5. Never let the facts get in the way of a good generalisation! https://uk.linkedin.com/in/chris-hayes-38736a91
  6. So we can all save the planet by keeping our ICE cars and buying a second EV car, just so that we can say that we have an electric one?
  7. I've owned a 5 series for 3 years (520D), an E Class for 3.5 years (E220D), and I'm now in an ES. I would say they are definitely competitors. If you move to the larger engined models then clearly the ES does not compete - but there is a significant price premium for those variants. The main advantage the German makes had over Lexus in the past was that you could personalise the cars a lot more from the option list; since the advent of the WLTP fuel economy reporting requirement, the Germans have also moved towards packs rather than individual option choice.
  8. It's about a foot longer, and nearly 2 inches wider - but they do say size doesn't matter! https://www.automobiledimension.com/car-comparison.php
  9. I've just received my renewal notice from Aviva (c. £800, and high compulsory excess), so I've decided it was time to look around. I've just got 1 windscreen claim in the last 5 years, but the cheapest I could find on a price comparison site was £900, and everyone seems to want a compulsory excess of at least £250. I tried Lexus Insurance, and they came in at £860 - or £880 if I want to insure against the £250 excess. They might be worth considering for me, if only for the reassurance of having repairs done in a Lexus bodyshop if the worst happens. It's all very expensive, and my pension doesn't have a London weighting!
  10. When the beep occurs, there should be a speed camera icon appear in the bottom right corner of the navigation screen - 2 cameras if it's an average speed camera.
  11. It's the difference in price around the country that annoys me. Last week I was in Chester. and filled up at Morrisons - £1.399. Back to London, and the price at Tesco the next day was £1.499. That's around 55p per gallon difference!
  12. I couldn't even get it to work to arrange the drive away insurance on a new car.
  13. I had a phone call from an agency working for Lexus about two weeks after my purchase. It was all about the dealer, not the vehicle. Although the questions were designed to assess the dealer performance, I hope I managed to convey the fact that I was happy with the dealer, but not with Lexus GB. My dealer mentioned that they had received a summary of the conversation.
  14. I think it's gone quiet because it's moved to this thread:
  15. You can do 1 mph steps - short press does 1 mph, long press 5 mph.
  16. Manuals would be a lot simpler if you didn't have to wade through all the different options - LHD or RHD, std, sport or Takumi, 8" screen or 12" screen, plus all the features you may not have. When I had a 5 Series, you could put your VIN into the app, and it downloaded a version of the manual specific to the actual configuration of your car. I do think Lexus are a long way behind the premium Europeans when it comes to software and apps. It's also useful to be able to sit in the car with a paper version of the manual, and follow the steps as you read them. Or you could just go to the North Side Lexus videos!
  17. My ES shows the trip details correctly on my phone in MPH. When I use My Lexus on my computer, it shows the same trip, but gives the details in KPH. The trip analysis section shows the same details, but takes the number in KPH and simply restates it as miles, so a top speed of 62 MPH on my phone becomes 100 KPH on the computer for that trip, and 100 MPH in the trip analysis. I raised it with my dealer, with screen prints. He referred it to Lexus, who waffled and told him it should be fixed now. It isn't.
  18. According to Portbury Docks, the Mignon is arriving on 9 January. https://www.bristolport.co.uk/shipping/forward-movements
  19. Rather than just reading a manual, these videos by an American dealer can be very helpful. Yes, the vehicles are USA specification, but a lot of the general info is useful. https://www.northsidelexus.com/2023-vehicle-tutorial-videos/
  20. To send directions to the car, you have to download an app called Navibridge. Then you can link the app to your car via bluetooth. I've only had a quick play with it, but finding a destination on the navibridge app does not seem very easy - I find it easier to just enter a name and postcode into the contacts on my phone, and then select that in the car's navigation screen. Apparently it tells you about this in the manual!
  21. The problem is that the Saab brand belongs to the parent company, Svenska Aeroplan Aktie Bolegat (Swedish Aircraft Ltd). They continued to use the name under licence when the car division was sold to GM, and then sold again to Spyker; I'm not sure they'd be happy with it being used on a totally separate product.
  22. I've driven one of those on a frozen lake in northern Sweden - on summer tyres! The foglights don't help when you're going sideways all the time.
  23. I've only had mine a week, but one thing I have noticed is that the sun visor is a bit small!
