  1. ok, I have always bought Blackvue dash cams as my preferred choice. Good day and night vision and new ones have cloud storage and replay. Very good IMHO. What I have done is run the cable inside the roof headliner and down under the rubber door seal on the inside and under the glove box, then along under the centre console trim to the 12 cigarette lighter socket. Here and there I used small self adhesive clips to keep the cable out of site. I did buy some plastic panel tools to lift and to poke the cable in to the gaps for about £2 on a well known shopping site that sounds like a rain forest. This means I can take it out when I change the car and leave no damage and I don't need an electrician to install and remove it.
  2. I put Michelin Lattitude Sport 3 on in the summer, they are by far the best in my opinion. Have had Goodyear Efficient Grips, which were ok and Yokohamas which I wasn't impressed with. For winter I am using Hankook winter icept evo2s. Good ratings and reviews, just when its about 11 or 12 degrees, it can get a bit bouncy at 70mph. However 7 degrees or less and these are great.
  3. I had Yokohama BluEarths on the car when I took delivery. (I swear it had Bridgestone Duellers on it when I tested the car). Anyway I wasn't happy with the handling and the reviews were not that great so put Michelin Latitude Sport 3 on it and I am really happy with them so far. I had tried to get some Nokian Z lines but no one had any.
  4. Having Michelins (Lattitude Sport 3) on at the moment and I have no complaints. They are slightly more durable/longer lasting that if you went mid range but probably 3k - 4k miles. I was hesitant to buy them as they were expensive but ride comfort and noise is good. I had my winters on until March and temps were around 12 degrees and at 70 mph the car bounced all over the place. After putting the summers on then made a huge difference. No more motorway bouncing.
  5. All seasons are better in the winter than summers. Even in mild winters when the temperature goes below 7 degrees, the rubber in summer tires goes stiff and stopping is longer. When I drive in the winter, its not just me stopping that I am worried about but also other people with summer tires that could slam in to me if they can't stop. My advice and this is just my humble opinion is; if you don't want to swap summers and winters the go for all seasons as you will notice a difference in the winter. Personally my preference to all seasons is Michelin Lattitude tour HP or Goodyear Vectors.
  6. Got Direct Line down to £480 and LV down to £620. Lexus insurance still over £700 if I went with them. £410 was last year with Elephant.
  7. Avon ZX7 - Ordered these in March - they arrived squashed. Tyre fitter returned to base and said not only was the entire stock damaged but Avon's stock were damaged too. I had Goodyear Efficient Grip on my old car and they were pretty good, not the best but in the top 5. Couldn't complain but not as good as Michelins. I've now got Michelin Lattitude Sport 3 on the car and I was a bit wary but they are excellent in both wet and dry. Low noise and on motorways in my 200t I get about 37mpg. They also have a better review than the Lattitude Sport and the Tour HP. Also be aware that tyres wear quicker on an SUV than a car and the Michelins are longer lasting. My Yokohamas were down to 2.5mm after 8000 miles on the front.
  8. Thanks so far. I can understand a slight increase, however not this kind of increase. This is a single car. Elephant and Admiral both around the £880 mark. Last year I paid £410 for my NX 200t fully comp. I am not a young driver and have to date a good history. Suddenly the policy prices have risen to £650 (cheapest - Direct Line) then everyone else is pricing at £850 and up in to the thousands. The Post Office quoted me £4425 for an identical policy. Lexus have come in at £750. Something can't be right. I do wonder if something has gone on to the national insurance database incorrectly and is shooting the price up.
  9. It's that time of year when I look for insurance renewals. I look at comparison sites first and then go direct to insurers websites. What has shocked me is that last year I paid £410 for my NX 200t F-Sport and this year I am looking at £850 to £950. I have had no issues or claims and I am selecting a like for like policy and excess. Has the UK economy degraded that much that the increase in premiums is more than the policy its self? One key thing I look for is the reputation of the provider. Will the mess me around in the event of a claim and try to worm out of paying up or are they fair and reasonable? Has anyone recently bought insurance from one of the "reputable" (I say reputable but we know they are a cartel) household named insurers at a decent price, especially for a 200t?
  10. I am pretty much in to knowing my tyres. I have always reviewed them and gone for the best in my budget. Here's the think, tyres are important and on a car like the NX that weighs about 2 tonnes, you want to be able to stop well. In the winter I put on a set of Hankook icept evo2's. Mid range but had very good reviews at the time (Tyrereviews and Black Circles). Summers, I use Michelin Lattitude Sport 3's. I ditched the Yokohamas as they were rubbish and had poor wear. I don't like the reviews of the Bridgestones so did my homework and decided on what I felt I was happy with. I also like the Nokian z-line for summers but couldn't get them. Vredestein also do good summer and winters.
  11. Hi Does anyone know if the UK NX supports mirrorlink? Just got me a new phone and would love to use google maps.
  12. Some how, while they have been tinkering, my connected services has started to work. It would be good if they could put an update on the web saying what they are changing and when the portal will be back.
  13. Thanks I found it. So I reset my username and password. Guess what? Error 195. Can not connect. Got home and Lexus are doing some additional maintenance and I can not log in. Its been down all day. Keeps redirecting to a page that says something line " we are working on it" and there is an e-mail address that keeps bouncing back. Come on Lexus, you are supposed to be a premium brand and also being Japanese you should be up with technology. Surely it can't be hard to put a message on the landing page and say they are down for x hours. Really finding out the hard way here and my opinion of Lexus customer services is starting to diminish. Its taken a load of calls and discussions so far to prove that it is the nav unit that has issues and not my phone. At times its been like banging my head against a brick wall.
  14. That's what I'm trying to do. When I put it in first time I think it was in setup, Bluetooth, communication settings. Now when I go there the aystem just tried to connect. I can not find where to put the settings again.
  15. There is no connected services menu unless I'm missing something.
  16. Hello Can anyone tell me how I can reset the username and password that is used to connect to the portal on the navigation unit? After a lot of issues with connected services dropping or more to the point, working on a selective basis, I deleted and recreated my connected services portal account, via a PC. I also reset the password to something else. I can log in via a PC to the account and it looks ok. However the problem is that I can not find where to reset the password in the Nav. I can connect my mobile by both bluetooth and wifi to the car. The car then tries to connect to the portal to download traffic info, parking info, stored routes etc. As the username and password is different, the car can not authenticate against the portal and I get D0 error messages, unable to download messages and this is the reason I need to find where I go in to the Nav and re enter my username and password. I have removed my paired phone and re added it as I thought that Setup\Bluetooth\Communication settings was the place to go but it just tries to automatically connect to the portal with the previous credentials. I tried the default button that supposed to reset everything but it does nothing. Can anyone help? This is really driving me insane. Thanks
  17. Yeah im going to get some Michelins in the summer. Had crappy Yokohama's on the car from the dealer.
  18. Thought I'd update this. Just put a set of Hankook icept evo2 on the NX and all I can say is wow. What a difference. even though they are winter tyres and softer, the ride feels lighter and firmer than the crappy Yokohamas that I took off. The other thing to note is, that only after 8000 miles, the front Yokos are almost worn to the point of being replaced. The rears are still good. though.
  19. How does the system receive DAB? Via your phone? If so does it eat a lot of your data allowance?
  20. Figured it out. Its a countdown in miles to the next service.
  21. Just wondered what drive modes people use most often. Personally I only use Eco for start stop traffic, day to day local runs in normal and faster roads and motorways I use sports + ( I do find now that the suspension is firmer in s+)
  22. I bought my car in May with about 5K on the clock. The dealership did all the usual prep first. I have now done just under 8K miles and I have noticed that when I start the car, right at the bottom of the rectangular MFD display, a grey spanner flashed up for about a second with 7542 next to it. (I am assuming thats miles) and then it goes and is replaced with ODO and the correct mileage. Does this mean I need a service? I went in to the main navigation display, then in to the car maintenance screen and the spanner is highlighted in blue. When I select it, it tells me a service is due December 2017. Im confused. Which is right ?
  23. My 200T F-Sport gets 34mpg on motorways. Im happy enough because for me, put it in sports mode and it flies.
  24. I put in BlackVue cameras. No elecrtrical experience needed, They plug in to cigarette lighter. Just got plastic pokey tools for about £2 off amazon and just poked the cable behind the panelling and under the rubber. Honestly, you don't need to pay anyone to do it. Takes about 20 mins.
