  1. Thank you, reading what other owners experience is much more reliable and informative than hearing what the sales person thinks I want to hear. I'd ask for another drive but the dealership is not local, getting to drive that one was a challenge.
  2. Absolutely, it is a big decision and I have tested one, but a 30 minute drive on a route that doesn't reflect real world driving and is designed to sell you the car because its new and exciting may hide some of the quirks or annoyances that you would notice once that novelty feeling has worn off. Thats why I am asking the question ... several times if need be. I want to be sure of what I am doing and at the moment I am not.
  3. I thought I would start a separate thread for this. Those of you with a 450h potentially an f sport, how do you find acceleration in normal and sport +? I realise the RX is not a sporty car and about 50% of my driving is around towns, outer cities and b roads in and around a major UK capital, but there are times you want to instantly move. - off the lights (if you got in the wrong lane or some how need to go quickly) - Joining a busy and fast moving motorway and getting up to 70 mph quickly - Overtaking on motorways and A and B roads. There are a couple of A roads that have a nice clear stretch with varying speeds from 50mph and later on at 70mph. I don't want to have to build up steam to then be able to pass by quicker. I want to think, react and go. Also I probably will become irritated with an indefinite single gear revving to a pitch that only dogs can hear. Am I making a mistake with buying this car? Should I stick with my 8 year old petrol turbo? Problem with that its losing money and in 2 years time the warranty runs out and being a turbo, costs will start to mount up. I like everything else about the RX but I have never had a CVT/eCVT and its a leap in to the unknown from a traditional auto and an expensive mistake if I get it wrong. I know this is an area I am focusing on but I want to be 100% sure its the right decision. The advice and thoughts from the community are greatly appreciated.
  4. I have but still a bit concerned that either it will not accelerate fast when needed or it will burn through petrol
  5. My NX has a standard 6 speed auto and is very quick and smooth and has a lot of acceleration (0-60 in 7.1 secs). I am so used to that which is why I am little hesitant when switching to an RX. I am happy to cruise around when needed but I also like that burst of nearly instant power at times too. I guess it does have a 3.5 v6 vs the 2.0 Turbo so its not going to be sluggish.
  6. So is this car ok at overtaking on A roads and motorways etc? or getting gup to speed quickly on fast roads. A lot of reviews say it doesn't have that punchy feeling when you put your foot down but not sure if that is true.
  7. Still pondering this. Having read up and watched some youtube vids I have a better understanding of what they do. I am not driving on canyon roads, just UK main roads, country roads and motorways. Still if it betters the drive then maybe but its a trade off on a car that is a year older than a regular f-sport takumi. Even with the current sunroof, I rarely open it.
  8. I got a quote from ALA and signed up to quidco, you can get 7.5% back from them. That seems like the best option.
  9. That's a good idea, make a counter offer back to the dealer if they say no I go elsewhere.
  10. Do you find the summers are bouncy on the motorway? I once took my Hankook winters on the motorway in 15 degrees heat and at 70 the thing was bouncing every second.
  11. Over double !!!!!! OK I wasn't expecting that. I am guessing then that if they are regulated and go bust, the FCA takes the hit.
  12. Tempted to put GEOLANDAR CV G058 on for the summer and get a proper set of winters for the winter as I am not sure these perform as well on the snow as anticipated but they look good for wet and dry grip. My previous winters were really bouncy when temperatures went over about 11 degrees. They were Hankooks and were fantastic in the snow. Maybe get a set of them for the summer but some people say they feel disconnected and there is some lateral something or other, which I have no idea what that means.
  13. Ok quick question and thoughts. I take out Gap (RTI) insurance when I change over as for me I like that peace of mind. Now I know the dealership will charge .... alot, and there are cheaper cover out there. However in the event of a write off, I want the Gap provider to pay out without the fuss, arguing and often that wriggling out that some insurers like to do. Is it better to take a slightly higher hit for the Gap from Lexus and have everything under one roof (I am going with Lexus Insurance) or for the sake of the extra £100 or so go else where and risk some unknown (FSA regulated) insurer that could be a real pain in the backside to deal with later on?
  14. its a choice between grey seats and panoramic roof or red seats and stabilizer. I also wonder if aside from the additional weight, if further down the road there will be more maintenance costs due to the stabilizers
  15. The f-sport only comes in 3 colours and I like the black the most but its so hard to find
  16. So if you use the paddle shifters down hill for engine breaking and you are in EV mode, does that energy then recharge the batteries kind of in a self perpetuating cycle
  17. So they do actually do something when you flick them. I only tried it once on a cvt and I noticed no change. Thats mainly what I want them for, overtaking in normal mode and the occasional burst of speed on a clear open road.
  18. Hi Spock66, The car I have been offered comes with it, not too worried about sunroof vs panoramic roof, more interested if it noticeably weighs the car down more than the pan roof would.
  19. Perhaps someone could clarify this for me. The RX450h has an eCVT and those flappy paddle shifters. Do they actually do anything? I have them on my 6 speed auto and they are responsive and I can shift up and down as needed. However in a hybrid, do they actually simulate the up and down shifting close to a regular auto or is it like you click them and nothing happens? Thanks
  20. Its the flare red and in bright light it is quite "in your face" but in darker light it looks better. Maybe because it is unusual I kinda like it but prefer the black interior, but there aren't too many of them about. There is a grey but to me that is the complete opposite, its almost camouflaged into the interior. I guess when you are driving you don't really notice the seat and I am not sitting in the back but looking at the back seat it reminds me of a bouncy castle.
