  1. Even if I am covered, repairs can vary on the skill of the tech that comes out
  2. Do they actually measure the depth of a scratch? Some say 1.5mm but how are you to know how deep a scratch is?
  3. Where I park it can be a bit tight and the RX is a bit "fat". I hate getting scratches so I think I will go for it. My last car picked up a few door dings due to inconsiderate people opening doors in the spaces next to me.
  4. How many people go for scratch and dent insurance, either dealer offered or 3rd party? I am in 2 minds about this. I have seen several offers by various insurers for between £200 and £330 for 2 year and 3 year cover. Reading some Trust pilot reviews, it seems that all these insurers have a deal with some form of mobile detailer who basically subcontracts the work to individual repairers and the reviews vary in satisfaction. It looks like you can claim between 9 and 12 repairs in a 3 year period, up to £500 for each repair to a total of the policy limit, which varies between £2000 and £3000. I always pick up knocks or scratches at some point and usually I just get the touch up pen, but that is just a cover up and if you look closely you see it. This time I am considering taking out a policy just in case an inconsiderate person hits my door with theirs while getting out of their car. On the other hand the cost for a one off fix is about £60 so you could get 5 small scratches done for that price.
  5. I'm not going to be beaten by outdated tech. Might be a different story if I could use Android Auto wirelessly. I wonder, maybe there is something I could plug in to the USB port to enable wireless communication.
  6. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is enabled and I sometimes use it but I still want to get this working too
  7. Ok I am getting there slowly with all the new features but I cant figure this one out. I have the connected my android phone and have both icons for Bluetooth and wifi on the phone and the nav screen. However, I can not get the roads to show the different colours depending on traffic. The other thing that may be relevant is that despite setting up an account with lexus online, I keep getting unable to connect messages. Yet I can see weather and fuel information. It has to be connecting to something externally to do that so I don't know why its proving to be so touchy. Do I need a subscription to Lexus online?
  8. Thanks PDM, will try the link. It is a 2020 RX. That is shocking that they released software without fixing a known issue. Its not a major thing not to have the beep beep but I got used to it on the last car. I did see somewhere a setting to make auditable alerts on or off and will have to trawl through the settings to locate it again just to check. If not I'll take it in to my local Lexus and get them to fix it.
  9. That's not happening. Not sure if they are not being picked up or if I need to enable the beep beep
  10. It is odd how the British public let the powers that be, get away with it. If pubs and bars watered down alcohol there would be a revolution. But water down our fuel and its "hey, so what".
  11. I'm not so sure I am a fan of the watered down stuff. But if I get the same mileage and there is no noticeable difference in mpg or performance then why throw the government more money?
  12. Has anyone actually noticed any difference between unleaded vs super unleaded fuel? or is it all marketing?
  13. Actually it is pretty intuitive. The one thing that has confused me (I say one thing but there are more) is that on YouTube, the nav screen has this waffle looking icon on the left of the screen. I don't see that. I think its options for something or other.... Still I will persevere and see where that takes me.
  14. I started reading them but there is so much in there and it got a bit boring. Also I can't sit in the car with my desktop PC. Now to figure how to get this lexus online thing to connect.
  15. I think though it's pretty poor. You spend a great deal of money on a car and they could at least talk you through some of it. The missus bought a regular car for considerably less from another Japanese manufacturer and she got an hours demo on how everything worked.
  16. So car has been delivered. Normally do you get a walkthrough and help on setting up and configuring everything or are you left to figure it all out on your own normally? Admittedly I can work out most things but there are unknown unknowns and not been told any do's or don'ts. (serious answers please, no "don't drive it in to a pond, or such like).
  17. Ok so I realised that I don't see the speed cameras on the map. Can anyone help and tell me how to get them back? Thanks
  18. Ok so I understand that Safety System 2.5 was introduced in 2021. If its only logic and various bits of software that is updated, can you update on a 202 RX from safety system 2.0 to 2.5? 2.5 has supposedly better Radar Cruise logic, auto lane changing and improved lane keeping. It still uses the same hardware in the car.
  19. It opens so slowly that there is more chance of dying from old age than getting clonked by it.
  20. Does the map update over the air or is it a required purchase? Two dealership have told me two different things. One wanted £130 to update, the other said its over the air.
  21. I am at that age where I think I am starting to rattle when cold... or is that grumbling?
  22. Does anyone know if you can turn off the annoying beep when you open and close the boot? I once read that the dealer could do this but none that I asked said they have ever been asked this.
