  1. Just checked on mine. Can't imagine how the engine oil in quantities could get on to the alternator.???
  2. It would be a wild guess for us to tell you where you have the leaking oil. I can advise to clean the engine of the oil residue , start it and look for the leak.
  3. Hi Tom, i wont be surprised if it is caused by the ABS ring or wheel speed sensor rusted and not sending right or no signal. Cheap and simple solutions first Hope that helps
  4. So many factors to consider when buying a new tire. Never went for a brand.
  5. LPG tends to put more strain on the spark plugs. I think they ended their life. They do not work properly therefore you have a moisture on them and misfire problem. I would change them and I am pretty sure that will end the problem. If it won't help then you can do the tests mentioned above. Cheap and simple things first Hope that helps
  6. Just wanted to share some of my experience on leaking boot gasket on LS400. I have had that problem and probably some of you had/have it as well as it is a quite common problem on them. I was considering to buy a new gasket for the boot but the price is steep. I have spent £20 for a transparent silicone(not glue one) and some silicone tubing with the external dia of 6mm. I took the gasket off the car boot. I cut small hole in the boot gasket to feed the tubing through. Tubing supports aged and squashed original gasket. The silicone went inside the the gasket. One hour job and so far no leaks. Now I can hunt for a bargain price original gasket without rush and leaking boot.
  7. In terms of hard drive size. PC will be sufficient and you can always ask for the one that sends to the cloud. It is a service that can cost annual subscription but sometimes comes free. Plenty of options there. I'm sure they will find you one for your needs. Pav
  8. Hi, Currys has a nice selection of outdoor CCTV cams. They do NEST, Motorola and other brands. These are usually full HD , wide angle, night vision that connect by Wi-Fi with your PC and smartphone. There are cheaper options of eBay but it would be Chinese so really no warranty and doubtful reliability. I wouldn't bother with indoor cams. Hope that helps.
  9. Hi Barry. I think I could point you to someone who has done quite a few conversions however he is 2jz maniac. Have you considered shimming autobox instead of cutting bulkhead, ripping off centre console?
  10. Hi, Have you checked suspension for damage? If you wouldn't have new tyres that would be first place to look for but in this case you can have some suspension related issue.
  11. An MOT history looks fairly good. At least you will know where to look for an issues. Cam belt would need to be replaced. More than 10 years judging by the mot records. Give it a go. You won't see it you won't find out what is worth
  12. Hi, Heated seats stopped working recently. The light on the buttons for heated seats is on. Firstly I believed that the heating mats went but realized that there is four of them in both seats and that would be very unusual for all of them to be damaged. Is anywhere some sort of a fuse, relay, cable connector that could go wrong? Thank you Pav
  13. Then I'm completely lost why they have refused mine.
  14. Thank you Mike for kind words. Seems that my problems with insuring Lexus are going to be sorted soon. Car is brilliant. Constantly improving something. Started with cambelt, new tyres, all fluids, new set of brakes, done underbody and closed panels antirust protection. Next move is to do few spots on the paint and enjoy it at full glory. Pav
  15. Haha, English is not my first language so from time to time you may have some laugh :-P
  16. Brilliant car. Keep it well and it will pay back. Don't worry about loosing money on it. This won't happen. There is less and less of them in decent shape and yours is really looking spot on.
  17. Hello to everyone. Passionate about old-ish cars with v8 After a long search through a various brands like BMW, Merc I have decided to give a go to Lexus. Since then never looked back. Owner of LS400 FX20 95'
  18. I got a reply from one broker company willing to insure the car. Being told that at the moment is only one underwriter doing Lexus brand in UK. Thank you.
  19. I had a chat with them on Friday and they refused. When you have quoted yours? I have to admit I do not have a garage and my postcode is not the best. That could possibly have an impact on the quotation. Thank you for your reply
  20. Hi Dan , Thank you kindly for your offer but I was on the phone with your company just days ago and no one could help. Simple answer was that the Lexus should be 30!? I would be glad if you could poke underwriters to acknowledge that the oldest Lexus on the market is 28 year. We both know that LS 400 was a milestone for Toyota and every single one on the road is worth preservation.
  21. Evening everyone. Just found out that the majority of the classic car insurance brokers if not all of them don't offer classic car insurance for Lexus if not 30 year old. Mentioned to them that the oldest Lexus is 28 as the brand. Being told that is the underwriters decision. Change came recently. Bit gutted atm with my ls400 that served me for last year as a weekend/fun trip car insured on classic policy. Does anyone came across similar issue?
