  1. So where is the microphone for handsfree calls or does it use the phone mic?
  2. Hope Lexus Cardiff are as accommodating as my dash rattles badly intermittently.
  3. I've received my letter to get the airbag done and need to book it on with Lexus Cardiff probbaly in 3 or 4 weeks time. Tell me about this bluetooth dongle please. I;m currently using an in car kit independent of the stereo.
  4. I've just bought a 10 year old IS250 SE-L with under 60K miles on it and had exactly this issue on an intermittent basis. Because the engine is generally so smooth and quiet it worried me a lot and I thought I'd bought a pup. The car has a full Lexus service history and oil changed every year at less then 6k miles per year. I think what we tend to forget is that these low mileage cars have often done lots of short journeys and rarely if ever got warm and very rarely had a good long run. The mileage on my car was almost identical for each of the last four years before I bought it suggesting it probably did the same commute, day in day out. 6K miles equates to an annual daily mileage (assuming commute only on a five day week) of 24 miles a day - that's a cold start at most every 12 miles, probably less when you knock off the odd weekend run to the shops and other short running about at weekends. Add into the mix that if the car is being used as above then its unlikely its ever being revved above 2.5K-3K rpm and it would be surprising if its not got some carbon build up. After a few long runs (for the fits couple of month I hardly used the car but when I did it was for runs over 50 miles) and a bit of an Italian tune up it stopped happening and now the car runs really sweet and somehow feels smoother and revs more cleanly. Hopefully I've heard the lat of it. Been using the car for a week or so on commutes now (80+miles per day round trip) and haven't heard anything out of the ordinary. I hope yours is the same. Fingers crossed!
  5. I bought my 2007 IS250 in March. 58K miles and full Lexus service history with almost exactly 6k miles each year between services. Although I'm quite capable of servicing it myself I have just taken a job quite a distance from home so my commute will be around 20K miles a year. Consequently I decided to let the Lexus garage take a look and do a major service under their "Essential Care" program. The verdict was advisories on a misting OSR shock absorber, smearing wiper, rear brake pads down to 5mm (about half worn) and mentioned verbally but nit recorded "some coolant staining around the water pump". It looks like the rear shocks may be a weak point based upon the number of mentions. The rest, as far as I can see, is justifying the £350.00 cost of the service. My thanks to John Henderson as I will obtain the shocks based upon his link above and fit them myself. I'd already looked around the net and not found them any cheaper. OP: If you aren't able to do the work yourself, find local garage you can trust and provide the parts for them to fit. It will save you a fortune. I wouldn't worry too much about advisories on an MOT. Testers will always err on the side of caution.
  6. Hi Guys, Thanks for the welcome. No plans fr any mods at the moment. This is my daily but I also have a couple of toys: A 1970 Rover P5B and a 2000 TVR Chimaera so those are the cars that are pampered and garaged. I bought the Lexus as I wanted something comfortable, reliable and reasonably nimble. I have bought a set of overmats to go over the Lexus mats if that counts? The carpets and mats are beige so get dirty easily especially in wet and windy Wales.
  7. Just joined the forum after buying a 2007 IS250 SE-L with 58K on the clock. The last couple of cars were a Jag XF S a Skoda Superb Estate Elegance. The Lexus really stacks up well against them considering its age and I'm very pleased so far. There are the usual squeaks from the dash which I'm trying some temp solutions on but other than that the car seems really nice. Red with a biscuit interior that barely looks like its been sat in. Sadly no multimedia pack but not a great loss. I trawled the ads for 3 months before buying this one. It looks like a very active forum and I'm already finding some great information so thanks to those who have already contributed and I hope I may be able to add to the pool of knowldge over time.
