  1. If its the rattling sound then that's not a wheel bearing. Sounds more like the undertray rattling. You sure the little flap for access to the oil filter isn't unsecured and flapping about?
  2. My car began with an intermittent fault on one of the O2 sensors (same symptoms as yours) and it became more frequent until I had to change the sensor. It was the left (N/S) upstream senor that went so i changed both upstream sensors because conventional wisdom is that they tend to go in pairs.
  3. Thanks Mike but its the overall profile (esp, width of narrowest bit at bottom ) I need to check
  4. Because the rear plate recess on the IS is not a simple oblong but similar to a Rover 75 or XF Jag which narrow and are rounded toward the bottom and I would like a plate that fits the profile of the recess rather then just a larger plate.
  5. Not done anything about it as I've sorned the IS250 for now. However, one of my neighbours has an occasional visitor who has an XF and I'm hoping I might catch him and ask if I can measure it. Failing that when things improve I'll visit a Jag dealer and ask if I can measure one
  6. Ah, Swansea. Worked there for a while. Didn't like it much. Lots of money about and self entitled people.
  7. Or, better still, leave the battery on the car and put it on an intelligent charger (e.g. Optimate) as I do with both of my cars that use up battery while standing.
  8. Just have your key fob to hand and deactivate the alarm if necessary There's some good advice on which battery to fit if you search the forum. I suggest Yuasa
  9. I've been sat in the office looking at the standard rear plate on my IS250 and thinking how horrible it looks having a standard oblong plate in a shaped recess and that a shaped plate would look nice (especially as my rear plate is looking a bit shabby). A bit of research reveals an XF Jag plate would appear to fit quite well. Anyone tried it? Link to XF rear plate dimensions: https://www.jepsonandco.com/product/20083610t/
  10. Holy thread resurrection Batman! I've been sat in the office looking at the standard rear plate on my IS250 and thinking how horrible it looks having a standard oblong plate in a shaped recess and that a shaped plate would look nice (especially as my rear plate is looking a bit shabby). 11. I had similar last year and the general consensus was "battery failing!". As the battery was the original Panasonic from 2007 (12 years old) I changed it and ... no difference. Further investigation revealed it to be the upstream O2 sensor on left bank. I changed both and its all been good since. I'm not saying it's not the battery or charging system as the symptoms aren't the same (don't remember airbag light coming on but the check engine light and stability control lights definitely did) but its worth doing a bit more investigation before condemning anything. However, if you want to eliminate the battery by changing it (and if your battery is over 10 years old then probably not a bad call anyway) . Idid lots of research on best battery and Panasonic came out best BUT they handed over manufacture of their car batteries to Yuasa a couple of years ago so I bought a Yuasa 068 from GSF Car parts while using one of their discount codes it came out at £82.47 with 4 year guarantee. Same battery today on GSF using current discount code (SAFE60) comes out at £78.99. https://www.gsfcarparts.com/971na0260 Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  12. Think what you will. Opinions are like are$eholes, everyone has one
  13. Beating 2.0D Beemers and Mercs is hardly the height of excitement. 😂 Often more a case of being to take more extreme risks than your "competitor" . I've "lost" many a race to much slower cars than my Tiv purely because the other guy was willing to take risks I thought were not reasonable and therefore let him drive off into the sunset and he no doubt regaled his mates down the pub with how he blew a TVR into the weeds in his 2.0D BMW. Frankly I'm not prepared to go to prison for the sake of boasting rights. I will however "make progress" when the opportunity presents itself. I enjoy driving quickly but the IS250 is not meant to be "sporty" . It can convey you reasonably quickly in comfort and that's what it does best. An IS250 has a 0-60 time around 7.5 secs and tops out at (an admittedly respectable) 143mph. However its not sports car quick and doesn't handle like one. The bikes you mentioned aren't exactly fast either so I reiterate my "sheltered life" comment if you think the IS250 is a fast car.
  14. Erm, guys I think you may be a little O/T with your bikey talk. Maybe start another thread eh?
  15. I ran mine to 89,574 miles before changing the plugs and they looked almost like new apart from the white deposit on them.
  16. If you think you can have as much fun in and IS250 as any other "Toy" then you've led a very sheltered life. 🙂
  17. Used to have an XFS Jag and previous GSD was regularly conveyed. Just need to dig out and fit the KleinMetal rear seat cover
  18. Hmm... Rover P5B Coupe I've had for 20 years and a TVR Chimaera I've had for 15 years. I don't think those will be going anywhere soon. The dogmobile however...
  19. I have been contemplating selling my IS 250 as since I changed jobs in June 2019 it has barely done 1500 miles and I have 3 other cars (mostly toys and a dogmobile). Just been out in the IS250 (first time driven since March). Stopped at local shop for milk on way back. Faffed about looking for mask. Got out. Pressed door lock button and it just beeped and wouldn't lock. Tried a couple of times but no joy. Got back in to check if I'd left it in Drive or something and realised it was still running. Soooo quiet. 😳 but 😁 I'd almost forgotten just how good this car is so its staying
  20. Have a look at Opie oils website. You can search car reg and it will tell you which oils to use where. Prices are good and they have a question and answer service.
  21. This is the Rover V8 but I have another car with a Rover V8 in it 🙂 It's peeping out from behind the P5B
