  1. The IS350 calipers and disks are on my old 250 SE-l and they are the same disks as the GS300 Mark 3. I assume the calipers are also the same but you need to check the part numbers to make sure as I bought mine in the USA as IS350 calipers.
  2. It's just located on pins and clips, a good upward pull is all that's necessary.
  3. This was originally a recall on the first builds i.e. 2004/2005, and my IS250 Se-L had its fuel pipe replaced a couple of years ago under that recall. If they are now saying that the replacement pipe (presumably it was introduced into the production line after the potential problem was discovered) has a similar problem than shame on Toyota/Lexus.
  4. The IS250 SE-L is now under new ownership, but there was plenty of tread left on all four tyres. The Toyo's were on non standard rims (19" and 8.5" & 9.5" widths) and the best pressures were found by constant monitoring to be 38 psi all round.
  5. Yes, which is why I have the original set stored in my garage because I changed to Toyo T1-R's for reduced noise and better roadholding. The Toyo's still have plenty of tread left after 20K, proof that getting the geometry set up correctly and adjusting the tyre pressure as necessary (by monitoring the wear pattern) is preferable than blindly followng the manufacturers recommended pressures (cos that's all they are, a starting point).
  6. Recall So what's different about this one and the last recall for the fuel line? My 2005/06 IS250 SE-L had the fuel line changed out under a recall due to incorrect orientation of the seam weld giving a risk of cracking. See #3 of the attached http://www.theaa.com...Lexus&makeId=C4 There was another recall in the US to replace flexible lines due to the possibility of pin holes caused by the ethanol content of their fuel, but I don't think it made it to the UK, unless this is it, but from the article it appears to be the same problem as on the earlier models.
  7. If you are then so am I, but as I've had second generation IS's since December 2005 I'd say it's not an option. Rarely bothers me as although I have the ML system it's rarely on as I prefer the relative quiet (and the noise of the V8 )
  8. I had Toyo T1-R's on mine and they were much quieter than the Bridgestone Potenza's.
  9. The front fogs do have an indicator light on the dash, as do the rears. You may find the bulbs have gone and the previous owner couldn't change them out because the lampholders were corroded (common problem). I only have one working foglight on my IS200 Sport for the very same reason and didn't want to fork out £160.00 for a new unit for something that I would rarely use and isn't a requirement for the MOT. The only time I use them on the IS-F is to improve the chances of finding potholes on the country lanes around here. There's one road to a local village that currently looks like a moonscape. :winky:
  10. The supercharger on the Evora 'S' increases the top speed to 172 mph (IS-F is electronically limited to 168), but it still only matches the IS-F 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds, and as you say you would have to question those figures with the additional weight of all the equipment they carry. (not forgetting two doughnut eating PC's). Even so, I'm not going to volunteer to test the figures trying to outrun them on the M4!
  11. Bit late, was posted a while ago when they first got it, and again in February last year. http://www.lexusowne...=1 yer didnt see it then. i did stop to look at that one for a fair amount of time as i was looking lol The Evora has the 3.5 litre V6 that is in the IS350. It's still a bit slower than the IS-F though so their claim for the loaner car is not correct.

  13. For goodness sake get a petrol! The 220D is terrible by comparison in all sorts of ways, and the small (very) difference in mpg just isn't worth it.
  14. The issue of the rear calipers seizing and the reason for it is well known by Lexus. My IS 250SE-L had the rears changed out under warranty some time ago and although the replacements were working fine, Lexus Cheltenham replaced them with the rectified design last year under a recall . http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=65313&st=0&p=709417&hl=+rear%20+brake%20+calipers&fromsearch=1entry709417
  15. I updated my Is250 SE-L with the 2010 disks some time ago and can confirm the functionality allowing Nav operation whilst on the move. I recently sold my 250 so replaced the new disk(s) with the previous issue. In doing so the functionality to operate the Nav system on the move was retained, so the fix for anyone who doesn't want to update is perhaps borrow the 2010 or later revision disks, install and then put the old ones back in The new disks were transferred to my IS-F (before anyone asks). .
  16. That is the only confirmed order according to Lexus GB, but that was a few weeks ago..

  18. I have called them actually and they said because they are temporary and just tyres i didnt need to inform them! As for grip, its awesome. I have 2 like new tyres on the front not balds. Where as before i had about 2mm tread left on the rears. All these posts are funny, so far youve not been right about anything. Thats a sign to shut up :D You're failing to understand anything that's being said. Just for the record it's the rubber compound that's different, and having full tread on summer or 'all season' tyres on the front doesn't alter the fact that you have a potential mismatch of grip front to rear. If you are driving around slowly in periods of low temperatures then I'm sure you'll get away with it, but it is a risk. I have a full set of winter tyres on my IS200 Sport as for the sake of spending a few quid on a couple of tyres it just isn't worth the risk, but I guess that your location probably hints to why you decided otherwise, although I would have thought the risk higher in Scotland due to the increased chance of low temperatures. Presumably you have just changed the tyres on two of your original rims?
  19. Fitting winter tyres only on the drive wheels isn't any different than fitting snow chains to cope with snow or ice, so if that's all he's using them for he would have a relevant argument. However, winter tyres are manufactured for vastly superior grip in all conditions where the temperature is under 7 degrees centigrade, so in wet or even dry conditions at this temperature he will have a mismatch in grip capabilities front and rear. If you asked him if he would drive his IS with bald tyres on the front and full tread on the rear I would hope he would be sensible enough to see the stupidity of doing so, but the same logic with regard to only fitting winter tyres to the rear appears to have escaped him.
  20. There's only one LF-A ordered from the UK.
  21. Thought it was the same engine as the 220D, just detuned to give more mpg for the fleet market. Going to be dropped eventually and replaced with the IS250 hybrid.
  22. These winter tyres are truly awesome. I'm certainly glad I have them on my Is200 Sport, as It'll go anywhere in these conditions. The IS-F is tucked up in the heated garage, as with low profile, and wide summer rubber it's more excitement in the snow and ice that I can stand.
  23. Thought you meant Oldbury on Severn! Forget what I said if not, and if it is forget it as we've got a few inches of snow and it's forecast to carry on tomorrow.
  24. Roads aren't too bad, but expecting a lot more snow later today and tomorrow.
