  1. Yes you're right they're a great drive. Why I saw sence was purely the reliability and being an even older car than my is250. Oh there's nowt wrong with writing something after a 🍺 or more and through rose tinted specs. I've done it a good few times lol.
  2. The teyes CC3 is perfectly compatible with pre face lift is250. The unit itself looks like the standard headunit. I'll be getting one this summer for my 2007 car.
  3. Wow. But what a good sparky you found to finally find the cause of the starting problem. Blimey 4k for new parts. Using used seems best if that was needed. Let's hope tricking the ID box works
  4. Funny you should mention the S type. I nearly bought the supercharged one a few months ago but saw sence lol.
  5. I've not noticed any difference in performance since using E5 super fuel. Even though I use an octane boost additive which is also a fuel system cleaner (I've been using this product for over 20 years in both diesel and petrol cars). As Linas put very well indeed that just because fifth gear noticed a difference using supreme petrol 99% won't. Oh I use Millers Oils petrol power eco max, the diesel variant definitely increases economy in diesel cars.
  6. Who cares about diesel? Las Palmas asked. Someone said they love forums as they go off on a tangent, or something similar. Yes that's the biggest flaw in a forum. Car forums are for just that, cars. But within that forum there are sections nothing to do with cars, subjects to like who can recommend a domestic appliance. That's great. Now don't get me wrong. My sence of humour is Evil. But what gets my goat is that a subject like the cost of fuel, which is one hell of a subject on everyone's mind, becomes a thread about politics and who said what in the war and who said what in a film. What has that got to do with the proce of fuel. And how the hell EV cars and their ranges and how we're all be urged into them has anything to do with the price of fuel is beyond me. Sure start a tread on its own to do with who said what to who and when. A different thread about politics and the thoughts about it. A different thread about how EV's charge and their battery lifespan. That's the biggest problem with forums. They get bamboozled by going off topic. I can't even remember if the originator of this thread has made numerous comments.
  7. All tories are evil? Bo**ox. All political party members, except the raving looney party, are EVIL self centred a holes. And back to the original post. Diesel today gone up 3p to 173.9p.
  8. Wow what a read Eric. I agree with quite a lot of what you say. Greenhouse gasses. Jeez has everyone forgotten the industrial revolution when coal was first used and steam engines were invented and all those cotton mills spewing out mega tons of c**p in to the sky? Governments have fallen victim to very very clever scams where greenhouse gasses is concerned. Its those scammers who need to be traced and shot on sight. What's getting me is this rip off clean air charge that's cropping up everywhere. Companies who use trucks and vans to deliver are going to go bankrupt coz they'll be crippled by them (unless there's a clause excluding commercial vehicles). Oh yesterday diesel price was same as day before 170.9p But the days before price in the early morning was 158.90 according to a workmate.
  9. Ah. There's quite a lot of is300h used as private hire especially in Bradford that I see when I deliver there once a week. Good choice for that job. Keep on top of servicing though.
  10. Definitely go for it. Mine is blacked out and looks so much better than it being chromed. Just a word of advice regarding stone chip repair. Is the guy just doing spot repairs or the whole panel? Has the repairer got an oven? Does he have a camera that takes numerous digital photos of the paint (paint fades over time and if a brand new colour is used it'll stand out like a sore thumb, the digital camera transmits the Info to a computer which in turn mixes a perfect match to your car). If he hasn't then find a bodyshop that does.
  11. Premium? Whose premium? There's only E5 and E10 available and E5 is the premium.
  12. LOL that reminds me of a super dooper stun gun I had as a kid, the noises that made were just like that
  13. That graph is out of date. Filled my truck today @ 170.9p per litre.
  14. To correct a point made here. The is250 auto Does have a gearbox oil cooler. The cooler is a canister type and not what one would expect. It's located drivers side of the box. Confirmed to me by Lexus Stockport. Therefore by distinction the manual gearbox may well have one. Just for an example of 'racing' the gearbox. I've driven from Rochdale to Leeds in sport mode 4th gear all the way. Ranging from 70mph and if I remember correctly the revs were 4 thousand. And also maxed out in 4th gear for a few miles. No adverse effects or excess heat noticed or smells.
  15. Hi Javed and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. Excellent choice in the is300h premium, I've had 2 of them. So what made you want to get one? Looking forward to the pics 📸
  16. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of the Chinese car company NIRO. What they're doing in the Netherlands is what should be happening with ALL ev car manufacturers. What's so good about Niro? They never need charging. What they do is go to a local battery storage recharge station, reverse in but its done autonomously. Few mins later a new fully charged battery is bolted to the bottom of the car. Fantastic idea. I've mentioned this before.
  17. There's been talk over the past number of decades about the thing called Big Brother. There's been Sci Fi films where robots rule over humans. There's this electronic GIANT who is on almost everybody's mobile phone that sends you time lines where you were last month. The future EV vehicle will be able to drive itself so basically the occupant is a prisoner in that vehicle. Am I scare mongering? No. What I've just typed is unfortunately true. Hail technology NOT. One thing else. I can put petrol in my car when it's cold enough to freeze the nuts of a brass monkey at the same rate as when it's so hot that the tar onbthe road melts. Yippeeee for petrol 👍😊🍻
  18. Eh up Eric. Why did you quote me? I mentioned Gang's tesla because I actually like that car plus teslas charging Infrastructure. I didn't mention build quality at all. Unfortunately I have read numerous articles about poor build quality on teslas which is a shame. As for Lexus own build quality I'd put my 14 year old is250 against any new lexus.
  19. Hi Sean. Its something like Northern Transmissions. Strictly auto box specialist 40 years trading. Guy I spoke with sounded similar age to me (I turn 60 in April) and ultra knowledgeable. Linas. Are you sure dropping the gearbox pan is listed as a 3hr job? Blimey I've seen live videos dropping the pan in under 5 minutes. Plus except using the level plug how else apart from pumping out old oil can you get oil out without dropping the sump? If I remember correctly Stockport told me they dropped the sump.
  20. Sean, the £500 is to change ALL the oil. The £140 is only a sump drop and top up and it doesn't even change the oil filter. As for what mileage to do a gearbox oil change well that depends on how those miles were attained. If all journeys were short then 60-80k miles is on par. If journeys were all motorway then I'd personally say 100-120k miles. My cars on 85k miles. I had the 'cheap' oil job done last August at lexus Stockport but I'll be going full hog this August before its annual service. Yeah £500 is steep but I'll know my car will never need it doing again in my lifetime. Rear diff oil should also be done at around 89-100k miles tho lexus seem to ignore this.
  21. When I took my car to Stockport foe it's service I asked them to change the gearbox oil. They were adamant it couldn't be done. After some gentle arguing a service tech came out and said it could be done. However all the do is drop the sump and anywhere between 1 and 2 litres comes out. Sump back on and topped up. I was charged £180. Hope that helps John.
