  1. Well I've just watched the DVD of the Rover Vitesse challenge 1990 where the great Tony Pond Did break 100mph lap. 102.195mph. And yes as Mincey stated that record got smashed many years later. Now compare the cars. The Rover. A Big 5 seater car with slicks a sports exhaust (a louder pipe so the marshalls could hear him, great excuse and true) and a roll cage and standard suspension. Now the specialist Subaru with 3x the power and basically a mega tricked out car. 3x the power and a much smaller car yet only 6mph faster. Testament to Tony Pond and his outstanding skill. It makes one wonder if TP drove the Subaru.
  2. Hi Joel. Blimey you're getting another is220. You must really like them considering it'll be your 2nd one. I know exactly where you're coming from re the excellent is300h and it's CVT. Hated my 1st one but after a year in an auto I got another one and loved it. There are quite a few entertainment upgrades for your car since it doesn't have nav etc. There's quite a bit on here about that lol.
  3. Bit of a typo Linas. Ford ecoboost engines were 2.0 or 2.3 (excluding smaller engines like the 1.0 1.5 1.6) the 2.2 was a diesel and a ruddy good one. (I had the mondeo titanium x sport 2.2 diesel in both manual and auto gearbox) (yes I was ford bloke lol)
  4. You say the spark plugs were changed on your car at 60k miles. How many miles on your car now?
  5. I've been hearing that noise for months but once warm and I've reached my destination there's no rattly noise. Very strange. But general advice is as above.
  6. Those 3 Phil look quite good. Just had a look lol. Blimey I forgot all about Stolychnia (spell check?). I remember that being a wonderful tasting vodka. Here's something tho. 35% proof vodkas. Now these I'd suspect mostly tasting like meths But there must be good ones. Who knows a good one? Why? Because they'd make the perfect ice cube for the proper good vodka. I use ginger ale ice cubes in my Southern Comfort. Using water basically waters down a drink. Oh 35% stuff freezes.
  7. I don't know those brands as I'm not a vodka drinker but I know not to touch any vodka under 40%. The morrisons what was moranov is now called The Best. Its in a blue bottle and has won 1st prize in a reputable competition. And for £16 and 43% I think I'll pay a visit to morrisons lol.
  8. I suggest you look up saab unleashed on YouTube. I've found him to be the best reviewer on android headunits. He's got a rig to test all sizes of headunit. Teyes CC3 is a firm favourite and one I'll be getting.
  9. John. To introduce you to Vodka I strongly suggest you buy a bottle which is Not less than 40% proof. (Don't know if morrisons still do their own brand moranov which was superb). Why no less than 40% proof? Because when you've bought the bottle put it in the freezer and forger about it for not less than 24 hours. After 24 hours pour a shot. You'll notice the liquid is akin to a syrup. Drinking a vodka from the shelf is like drinking meths. After the freezer something amazing happens. It's so smooth it melts so to speak.
  10. Me thinks that auto spark works for 'I saw you coming'. Best to get multiple quotes. Better still find a car hifi shop.
  11. WOW £460 for a replacement key? That's gobsmacking. Hope the sparky that comes is a guddun and finds the issue and sorts it.
  12. I've seen elsewhere on other forums and even YouTube about a similar situation as yours Linas. Concensus is the actual key. And as for wiring issues, since you don't actually know the cars history and how long it's been stood there is a possibility that a rodent or two over time have chewed a wire or two. Have you priced a replacement key from Lexus? Even at a couple hundred quid it'd be worth it I think. What about finding an auto electrician and get a quote for a electrical test. Just a couple of suggestions for you.
  13. I've said this before on here and other forums. Every car I've had in the last 30 years before I brought it home I poured the required amount of ZX1 into the oil. This stuff puts a micro coating on All metal parts within the engine therefore on a cold or the car not being started for weeks months the engine will start as if it was a hot start. Again I'll mention a neighbours S type jag which gets started twice a year with a pronounced tappety noise. After a dose of ZX1 no tappety noise. Neighbour chuffed. Oh don't anybody slag me off for this wholey factual proven advice coz all you'll be doing is making yourself look a prik.
  14. Excellent John. When you're there ask if they know of as good an auto specialist as them in the North West. Cheers 🍻
  15. Hi Tom and welcome to Lexus ownership and the best Lexus forum there is. You've got arguably the best model Lexus. Yes they're such a fabulous car. Re the auto lock. With yours being a 2009 model I'm not sure that's a standard fitment. A good while ago someone on here posted how to convert the car to auto lock. Maybe the previous owner followed that post and did the conversion. Since your car is full lexus service history then perhaps take your car to your nearest Lexus dealer for them to have a look and whilst there get a quote for a service plan.
  16. I don't know John. I'd phone a number of auto box specialists the more the better to gauge their advice.
  17. I wouldn't worry too much about that. It's probably the very cold mornings that initially mucks up fueling. Do you drive your car let's say sedately 100% or do you say once or twice a week floor it to red line to clear cobwebs?
  18. That's good then. Save your money on the front shockers as they don't need changing.
  19. Hi Jeff and welcome to the best Lexus forum there is. WOW you really did have a belter with the is200. Now you're in the superb is300h. I've had 2 but I have to be honest and say my is250 is a better car just. The Nav is easy to use I found. Have a great future with the 300h and yes post some pics 📸
  20. Test the shockers by making sure the car is on level ground. Got to one corner and with force press down to compress the spring as much as you can. Release quickly and note how the car raises. If it raises in one movement only then its a good shocker. If it boings then its duff. Repeat on the other corner. If both react the same as in one movement only then all is good. My cat is a 2007 with 84k miles and my front shockers are almost like new. Only replaced the rear ones because of weepage.
  21. I did a thread a while ago about a journey I did from Rochdale to Leeds. I deliberately had it in S mode just to compare fuel consumption to standard auto box. I stayed at 70 on the motorway but on the 621 I floored it fir fun. Red lined it all the time being in 4th gear. My car returned I think mid 20's mpg which I thought was outstanding. How fast did I go? Find the thread lol
  22. Well said Colin. I should have said S mode not manual mode.
