Cold air blowing on footwell area
Slucky replied to Slucky's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Thank you all for enlightening me on this subject. It makes sense now, so I was using my A/C the wrong method. My wife never liked the A/C as she expected the warm air to kick in instantly during the cold season, so we would battel it out on the controls for the heating. So Auto all the way. Cheers- 15 replies

Cold air blowing on footwell area

Setting it to Auto makes the fan to turn on full blast, so normally use own speed and air direction. the air direction I set is normally internal air circulation. But this should not cause cold air to creep in. I feel the air seems to come from the foot pedals area.- 15 replies

Turning it off and using just the heater causes the car to fog up inside. The A/C does blow hot air, but there is this cold breeze that comes around the foot area.- 15 replies

Evening all, Given the cold weather we are experiencing recently. I have noticed that cold air blows in the footwell area in both the passenger and drivers side. Even with the AC turned up at a high temperature, I can still feel this cold breeze around my foot. Have tried all the different modes on the AC, but no luck. Half and hour later and my knees are cold to the bone. Does the IS not have a good insulation around the footwell area? Had this same issue with my old IS 250. Any one have similar issues. Thanks

Hi Paul , Yes i do agree with you. The IS 250 is one of the best cars out there. The V6 is super smooth and built like a tank. Look after it well and it will never give you a problem. Have driven to Germany and you don't notice how fast and silent its on the autobahn. Cons: Its a bit on the heavy side, wish it was few kgs lighter. Bit thirsty, and living in London with start stop traffic doesn't help.

Thanks John, i can see you own a GS 450H. Had my eye on on of those for a while. What is the actual mpg you get?

Hi John, Had it for 3 years, bought it used. Its only covered 75K miles. Full S/H with Lexus I guess its time to upgrade, more for fuel cost. As the 250 was averaging around 29mpg.

I have the same model, and yes the boot is quite heavy to open as i don't think it has any electric assist to it. The newer IS models have the assist and its not heavy as i went to try one out.

Hi All, Has anyone managed to install a DAB Radio on the standard IS250 CD Player (without sat nav). The radio on my SEL has not so good reception. So i came across these DAB radio antennas that you stick on the windscreen, so was wondering if it is an easy fix to take apart the existing radio and attach the antenna in the back, will the existing radio have an external antenna socket. Thanks

Hi All, On a Lexus IS250. Have recently noticed and have rear passengers also said that the rear air vents do not blow any air, warm or cold. I have checked that the vents are both open. Putting the AC on only blows air in the front and not in the back. Have tried putting Fan mode only and the air vents feel a bit warm. Does any one know how the rear air vents work? Thanks

Its been 2 months since i replaced my flickering HID lights with OSRAM D4S ones and now the driver side is flickering again and cuts off after 5 seconds. Don't really want to be buying another set. There must be a fix for this. Anyone had this issue before, or found a fix. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Hi would appreciate if someone could help me identify what this is. Just noticed it this morning. It’s cold here in London. I popped my bonnet of my IS 250 to check screen wash level only to notice this white residue on the bonnet catch or lock. I am going on a long journey for the Christmas break, and am now worried about it. I thought it was a coolant leak and have checked that this is not the case. So I don’t know what it is. Thanks
