  1. Think that flew over a few heads 😄 I would find it difficult asking a young female shop assistant for a bottle of "tool lubrication spray" that you rub on with a soft cloth. Bad enough asking for Dressing up Spray 😉
  2. If it had been anything to do with Harry, I would have left it on the bench in my shed
  3. The beauty of this product is it versatility in being able to perform on all plastics and rubber hoses etc Loving the black look exterior wiper panel, rear wiper and Ext mirror surrounds. Which had started tuning ash coloured even though I had previously tested just about every other plastic and interior revivers. This will be my sole plastic /rubber dressing in future. Hmm! tyre walls? maybe 🤔
  4. I imagine stage 1 is a degreasing agent and in my case unnecessary as the majority was general dry grime and water marks.
  5. Thought I would share this as I felt it was a real bang for the buck. I decided to do a number on my Wife's Ct engine bay after finding an old bottle of Meguire's Engine Dressing in the shed. Bearing in mind it has been left untouched since we purchased the car over 5 years ago, it came up close to as new after just 20 mins spraying on and spreading in the tight places with a brush and with a cloth on the bigger sections, then wiping off. The bonus bit was the plastic that houses the wipers that had turned grey over the years through sun deterioration likewise with the rear wiper and mirror surrounds. Love the stuff 🙂
  6. Since around 2019 model IIRC, Lexus have redesigned the Catalytic Convertor so that it no longer contains so much of the desirable precious metals, making the later models a less valuable commodity.
  7. I have yet to hear of a genuine Lexus catloc protected car having the Cat stolen. Last time I spoke to my Birmingham service centre the ones they fitted remained intact. Of course this is no guarantee it won't happen but certainly stacks the odds in your favour compared with some of the other options. The biggest advantage with Lexus is with the fitting of the Catloc, the cat is smart marked and registered to your car and the information that this has been done displayed on a sticker located on the side windows. This allows law enforcement to prosecute merchants found in possession of stolen cats and trace them back to the registered owner Hence the merchants are no longer interested in receiving stolen cats that can be traced back to the donor car, so thieves are now giving those a wider berth A non protected Cat can be removed in around 3 mins from scratch, I have been informed by my service centre that even with the workshop ramp and tools it would take in excess of 15 to 20mins to get a catloc cat butchered off. Our Ct is an outside parked car with no signs of interference yet so hopefully they look and move on to an easier option.
  8. There are a large number of cats stolen from supermarket car parks etc. I couldn't be rrsd setting that up every time I parked up anywhere to shop, or driving around with it poking out of the window, because of the size of it 😅 Five gets you ten that my wife would drive of in the morning forgetting it was even there aargh! Also, considering I have yet to hear of a CT200h with a genuine Lexus catloc fitted, having the cat stolen (doable but noisy and time consuming) plus the price of timber now it's not a DIY I will be recommending. 😉
  9. Just came today my offer for roadside assist renewal due to the expiry of my paid warranty about to end. To be fair the Lexus breakdown cover is full bells and whistles cover for £155 and considerably cheaper than the AA quote for the same cover. As that is part of the 10 year plus £500 warranty cost I will most likely go for it when relax finishes.
  10. Good info, just a pity I couldn't get either of the all inclusive warranty for year 10 as the original has finished and the next is not available until year 11 I guess i will just buy the Lexus breakdown to go with I year of Relax. Of course the original paid warranty was always offered on a buy 2 year and get one free price which made it very attractive all inclusive @ £250 per year. Hopefully they will do some offers on the !5 year plus one. I guess from a reliability point of view, some might argue the warranty I have paid out over the years is money wasted, but I look at it as insurance if needed and a more honest and attentive approach to work carried out, that is not billable Once bitten twice shy I guess.
  11. I am on my final year of the paid warranty @ £245 which includes Lexus full breakdown and MOT test and Mot failure insurance, all of which adds up easily to £245. I will now be changed on to the Relax warranty for the final 10th year, I was informed there will be another paid option after that just don't know what it will cover as yet, will wait and see.
  12. The mechanic sends it to my phone while working on the car showing tyre depths, pad & Disc wear any joint flex or things that may need addressing in the future. Mainly for the MOT test, but it's assuring that you are there under the car with him 😄Many a time on some of my cars I have had work deemed to be needed when upon checking it wasn't. Click the link below and have a look 🤩 https://aos.to/AiN6Z
  13. Great service once more provided by Lexus Birmingham for my 2014 Ct, love the way the service video comes to my phone so I can see what's happening underneath and confirming what they are checking. Once again it is trouble free with the Mot a pass and no additional work needed, which gives me assurance that they are not in the habit (like some) of trying to bulk the bill, they even let me off with the pick up and drop of charge of £15 which saves me 2hrs a day and another driver to take me there and back or using a loaner. I am on my 2nd service plan which consists of 2 major and 1 minor for around £1100. Some may compare it price wise with a local independent as very expensive, but having paid zero out in additional items apart from brakes and tyre during our 5+ years of ownership plus all the genuine Lexus parts used and full Lexus service history I cannot see me looking for an alternative any time soon. Nice to think there may be an upside to customer loyalty.
  14. Very sad news. I will miss the interactions we shared, the first welcome, the good advice, the subtle humour and even the bit of football banter, RIP John, Rory of the Rovers x
  15. Hi Brian keep us posted if you find a draw and what was causing it I downloaded a PDF of the relevant fuse boxes and descriptions here if any one needs them Lexus fuse box.pdf
  16. You are correct Herbie, after checking inside the car there is indeed a motion sensor off switch in the interior light switch. On reflection, I think it may have been an ongoing problem since we purchased the car in 2018. The car struggled to get above 12v then, so soon after I fitted a new lexus battery. Even so there was no real noticeable battery performance with the new one fitted, always dropped down rapidly if stood for a week or so. I guess I just got into the habit of popping the charger on being as it only does around 3k mls a year. I did a battery condition test the morning after charging and it came back as Health 85%, CCA have dropped from 345 to 325, the charging circuit is good and the numbers are pretty impressive considering the battery is now 4yrs and 2mths old. The only negative, it said it was still in need of charging. It's due for service in March and still under the Lexus paid warranty, so if I can troubleshoot it a little and determine there is a drain I can push them to sort it. Of course it could still be just a dying battery, we will see. Thanks for the input Herbie.
  17. Hi Herbie, My concern is while he has all the doors open but latched, and shut down on the fob. What is preventing the alarm going off while he is rummaging around in the interior fuse box and waking the system up again? My initial step will be to check the neg battery cable for estimated drain before progressing to fuse checking if required. I presume I will just need to flip the 1 door and bonnet latch to cover the access to the 2 fuse boxes then.
  18. Looking for a little advice on the procedure for shutting the Wife's CT200h completely down without the alarm going off with the tailgate open. I think we have a battery drain happening when the car is stood. I have an Amp clamp in my tools somewhere so will not need to disconnect the Battery lead. I'm just concerned if I flip the tailgate lock so it appears closed then lock the car with the fob and start working inside I may set off the motion sensor. Cheers
  19. Just wait until it's stolen, it will save you the removal cost😄 Or get a Lexus Catloc fitted, I have yet to hear of anyone losing a cat with the Lexus one fitted. Also the new Lexus models no longer contain the valuable metals, so less prone to theft. It also appears that electric car charging cables are now a more attractive option for the thieves, a quick wrench of the boot or cut off while on charge. Less traceable with no smart water on them. I suppose we should admire how quickly thieves adapt to new opportunities. 😉 I never leave anything of value in my car but forgot to lock it on the drive one night. Next morning I found some one had been in there but chuffed that he had been outsmarted by me. To weeks later we went for a drive down south and then found our travel mints had gone from the door pocket 😂

  21. It's the last of the pre restricted models with some weight off and better breathing etc. These early models were always sold with a claimed top end of 200MPH (320Kph). In truth even with some mods I could never get it there. I hit a best of just under 190 MPH, perhaps I should have shed some of my own weight. lol! Things start happening pretty quick once you move over 150, especially in the underwear department. Amazing rush once you get off and stop shaking though, sadly with old age I have now discovered the will to live 🥲
  22. I Beg to differ, everyone I know prefers the Ctek, my baby has gone 9 months on maintenance charge and fired straight up. 😉
  23. Do the smart thing and get a smart charger. My choice would be a Ctek with a comfort lead connected to the battery and left available in the boot. You will never need to worry about pulling everything out to connect it. You can also easily check the voltage via the lead pins when required. Job done for ever more 😉
  24. Regardless of what is the norm for other countries, in the UK you will not get a puncture repaired once a sealant has been used to repair the tyre. So be prepared to add that to your running costs and avoid building sites like the plague. Believe me I really tried, when told a near new tyre costing close to £300 fitted needed replacing because of using the gunk (junk) kit. Of course it's Murphy's law, and since I invested in a spare wheel I have never had another puncture. 😄
  25. Not the most exciting car you will drive but reliability is way better than most cars out there. top marks scored for a few years now. Lexus services mine which means you get the free 10yr/100kmls warranty and 15yr hybrid battery covered. My wife's 2014's only ever had service items needed. 3yr package 2 major and a minor service cost me £1100 and a bit, I pay £30 per month interest free, they pick it up and drop it back. Great service and the warranty means they are not picking faults as a potential earner, unlike many other makes. It's tax free and depending on winter or summer returns MPG high 50's - low 60's. I am on the side of needing a viable spare like the space saver in mine. My Jaguar XF R -Sport was supplied with the gunk kit which I replaced with a spare after a perfectly good tyre was scrapped when tyre repairers said they did not do puncture repairs on tyres that had the gunk inside them, a very expensive get you home system.
