  1. Thanks James😉 My Merc was ongoing as long as service requirements were met and there were no lapses or breaks in warranty take up. I will fire an email off and see if I can get clarity as I think the little low mileage gem is a keeper no matter what other vehicles come and go.
  2. Copied this from my renewal quote, I know the warranty can only be taken out on vehicles under 10yrs old. but looking at lines (e) & (f) it appears to me that as long as the warranty is continuous from the initial take up offer it shouldn't lapse on the 10yr birthday and is on going, any thoughts? Eligible vehicle A Lexus vehicle which - (a) has been branded and sold by Our Holding company, Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA in Europe as a Category M1 Lexus passenger motor vehicle; (b) not have been modified structurally, mechanically or electronically otherwise than with the permission of Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA or save for the purpose of enabling it to be lawfully re-registered in the United Kingdom; (c) have standard Lexus wheels and normal road tyres fitted to it; (d) possess or be capable of possessing a European Certificate of Conformity; (e) was purchased through the Lexus Approved Used Car Programme with the benefit of a Lexus Extended Warranty; or (f) is less than 10 years old and has less than 140,000 miles on its milometer at the start of the first Warranty Period (Notes. (1) All Lexus vehicles imported into the United Kingdom by Us and sold by Us or by a Service Centre in the United Kingdom meet these qualifying conditions (a)-(d). (2) The fitting of a Lexus approved accessory by a Service Centre will not be treated as a modification for the purpose of condition (b) (3) We will not provide a Lexus Extended Warranty for any vehicle which is older than 8 years from the date of its first registration.
  3. No the new service date will be June in future unless you want to change it. Lexus honour any warranty because of the extension. Mine was the same due late March and the MOT was due on the 29th but Lexus shut down. I couldn't extend my MOT because it was only extendable for car MOT's due on or after the 30th so I had to get it done elsewhere although it was part of the Lexus service plan. Like you our car has only done 1-2k since last June but I have now booked it in for service back to late March so I can get the MOT & service done in one hit to save 2 visits.
  4. Hi Karen Judging by the thread title your battery is not the usual one but the rarer 12 Vault version. If the Tacklife Jump start doesn't work for any reason, you could try doing this. Simone Biles - Vault 1 – 2018 U.S. Gymnastics Championships – Senior Women Day 2 - YouTube SORRY! 😄
  5. I have 2 vehicles in Australia that have been on C-Tek maintenance charge for over a year now because of travel restrictions during Covid19. a friend pops in and makes sure everything is going strong no problems. They don't come any smarter than C-Tek with pulse charge and all the safety devices incorporated to auto shut down in the event of a battery or charger problem. No way you could boil a battery with these pieces of kit regardless of which amperage you choose. I think the Ukrainian guy is talking out the other end of his body if he spouts doubling the battery life with a charger that dies on the first power disruption and hasn't fixed it. Certainly wouldn't fit in with my criteria, still we all have different needs and "we pays our money and makes our choice" 😉

  7. I am a somewhat of the opinion that Hybrid cars may be a bit unorthodox service wise for the local indy. But you do need to have confidence in the people who service your cars, I am very happy with my Lexus dealers performance and as such would recommend them. Our Ct200h only does about 3,000 mls a year, even so it is serviced by Lexus on a fixed price 3 year service plan that is paid monthly which includes the Hybrid battery report. I have the MOT done at the same time and the car is picked up from my home address some 15mls away and returned when all work is completed. I also take advantage of the 2 for 1 year extended warranty which for £250 per year includes MOT cost and full Roadside assist/ breakdown cover and insurance against any MOT failure costs, which is very good value considering half of that would be needed for breakdown cover alone. Could I shop around and get things done at the same standard and maybe cheaper? Quite possibly but having all my eggs in one basket helps build a good relationship and I think that has benefited me to a large extent in discounts and addons.
  8. Scroll down to the free warranty extension on the right in this link. Hybrid Health Check & Services | Lexus UK
  9. As long as the yearly Hybrid battery health check is done, additional hybrid battery warranty is extended for another year for up to 15years. So traction battery change should not be a worry for the ownership of most.
  10. Unfortunately the YCXO.8 is only really suitable for small batteries, lawnmowers etc. While it will charge the CT which in comparison to bigger diesel/petrol variants is reduced amperage it is still going to be a long winded job. For example it is only putting 0.8amp per hour into the battery so a completely flat battery like my 45amp Ct would take in the region of 56hrs to charge. Added to which smart chargers take longer to do the job as they go through various correction processes. In comparison my C-tek MX 5amp smarter would reduce the 56hr charging time to around 9hrs if in the same condition. My Jag Xf R-Sport had a 100amp battery on so you can imagine how long it would take the 0.8amp YCXO to charge that, 125hrs plus 😂 C-Tek also do a full 8amp smart charger which is a good choice if my current one gives up the job lol!
  11. Mine is a C-Tek smart charger but a similar beast I should imagine
  12. I find a permanently fitted C-Tek comfort lead an ideal add on for easy charging and voltage check. Mine goes on a top up charge as needed or around 3 weekly in lockdown when usage is a lot less.
  13. Well they managed to get it sorted, apparently a glitch in the system adjusted the warranty expiry date to the breakdown cover extension date. Most have been corrected but a fair few fell through the cracks, so might be worth checking yours. I was also informed that all calls are now diverted to the head office call centre, mainly because of customer feedback on waiting times at the service desks when in branch because of the service desks constant time spent on incoming calls. I was told that if I had a need or preference to speak directly to the branch service dept the call centre operator would be happy to put me through to them. We will see 😁 Pick up and drop off now incurs a £15 fee but is what Jaguar now charge for the service and still leaves me free for the day so well worth it I think.
  14. Yes it's getting them on the same page though, the warranty admins are saying 17th of April but it has to be renewed via the dealers. The dealers have it in the Lexus group vehicle system as 17th July and keep saying the renewal date will start from then. I know they have in error bundled the warranty in with the extended covid19 breakdown cover and April is the correct renewal date, but now it is all done by remote call centres it is like trying to teach a cat to bark. I will persevere for the time being then try Customer service next week if no joy. Failing that I will just give the warranty a miss and not renew it, just seems decent value when considering the good Roadside Assist and 2 free Mot's + Mot failure insurance that comes with it.
  15. I have left it with a young lady to investigate, said she would be getting back to me but not holding my breath lol! It seems that Birmingham used to be Vantage but is now Stephen Eagell. Not sure if that is relevant but it appears that all my calls no longer are answered by the dealer branch in Birmingham but are now diverted to various call centres. The new future service plan call centre couldn't help with a current service plan query and booking my next service while trying to add additional work proved problematic. It's a shame because they have always been spot on when I attend the branch.
  16. I took the Lexus extended 2 for 1 year warranty when I purchased the car which should expire on the 17th of April according to when I took it out and the documentation I have. I have been told by the dealer that it does not expire until the 17th July and is in the Lexus system as such, I contacted the lexus warranty number on the Lexus site who contradicted that and said it was 17th April. I did get a letter from Lexus several months back saying that the included breakdown service had been extended by 3 months because of covid19 lockdowns but there was no mention of the warranty being extended. While I welcome the July date I would hate to come up short because it should have been done in April and it seems there is still he says she says going on. Are there any members with extended warranty able to shed any light on if their warranty period was extended due to covid19?? Thanks

  20. Hi Jerry, I would go with Lexus, I have their catloc fitted, not sure about the other alternatives but haven't heard any reports of a catloc fitted car being targeted. The reason hybrids are a preferred target is the cleanliness of the cat due to spending less time on petrol. Lexus are saying later vehicles are now being produced with less of the valuable materials in the Cat. This should make them less desirable, of course it will take time for the thieves to catch on to that fact and still leave the older models vulnerable. Not just Lexus though most cars are targeted if the opportunity is right.
  21. I like the added response when in sports mode dependent on how the driving conditions are. The addition of the Rev counter appearing and replacing the power mode clock is a nice touch, plus the Red dash light'
  22. It takes less than 3 mins to remove one from a Ct200h, one trolley jacks the car up while another cuts the cat off with a reciprocal saw, jack out and gone. Google the video's Fitting the Lexus Catloc should delay that by 30mins or so even if they have the extra tools required with them. Lexus supply window stickers that will also aid putting them off and send them looking for an easier target. The bigger issues are 1/ the cat replacement cost, 2/ the increased insurance premium after claim and 3/ the long wait to get a replacement owing to short supply levels because of the increased demand now. Hybrids are favourites because they have cleaner systems due to hybrid assist. I had mine fitted a couple of months ago it doesn't make it 100% safe but I have not heard one report yet of a Lexus fitted catlock car having the cat stolen.
  23. Mine is a low usage vehicle the only real issue is keeping the battery charged. The best way I have found is getting a C-Tek smart charger and comfort lead. I permanently hooked up the lead to the battery and leave it loose in the boot. Just plug in, on an as needed basis. Can check voltage on pins if required.
  24. Sorry for the delay, Previously the MOT charge was included in the service contract I took out and not in the warranty, although there was a clause in the warranty stating it covers MOT failure repair. I was told by Lexus the new warranty now includes the MOT test which I suppose is an obvious addition if they are insuring MOT failure repairs. Of course the MOT fee will no longer be added to the service contract price when renewed. If you have a service contract do not forget you are entitled to a parts and labour discount on anything needed outside the service contract or warranty items, tyres, battery, mats etc. I think it is 15% or could be 10% it's written in somewhere. I have found it isn't offered if you don't ask for it though.
  25. Often it is not the brake that is the problem but the things that come under stress with brake application I think I would be checking for a worn ball joint/s or strut mounting rubbers or even a broken spring, usually picked up at MOT time.
