  1. No water to top up, or facility to do it if the correct AGM battery is being used. Also, if using a smart charger don't bother trying to use the Recon mode as that is not applicable to AGM batteries, it is only beneficial to wet batteries. Wet batteries are nowhere near as efficient or long lasting as AGM and possibly all stop/start cars, are now fitted with AGM as OE equipment.
  2. It was more to do with the fact that NCB policyholder would no longer be the main driver and was being replaced by what they considered the higher risk named driver. The policy is on a 3year fixed premium at present, In fairness to the phone consultant, he juggled it down to around £20 from £70 per year with a couple of nudges and also by reducing the annual mileage used to a lesser more accurate mileage. I think he was trying to justify and get to a price I was happy with 😊
  3. Hi Colin I realised that but felt I needed to address the issue. Had they not obliged I would have registered the car in my name and shopped around for a quote in my name without NCB and added my wife on as named driver. It may never have been a problem but I feel the only thing worse than no insurance is paying for it then finding out you are not covered. Read a while back of a write of claim being refused because the insured had answered no to any recent insurance claims when in fact he had made a small claim on his House insurance with another company. Go figure lol!
  4. I had the moth problem 2 late nights on the trot, I think he woke up and was trying to get out to the street lamp via the front screen. Much to the delight of my nearest neighbour wtf!, little beggar 😅
  5. The Ct we have is registered in my wife's name and insured in her name with 4yrs ncb. I was also a named driver on the policy. After considering the fact I now drive that car more than she does because of medical reasons I considered it prudent to stay within the conditions of insurance and becoming the main driver. Saga had no problem with changing me to the main driver and her to the named driver, whilst keeping the policy, NCB and registered owners details in her name. Spouse sharing % of driving is rarely considered as fronting by companies for insurance purposes, compared to added children etc' Of course the usual additional fee needed to be paid, as is the normal rip off with any insurance amendment 😄 but at least all the boxes are now ticked.
  6. I would add if it's a vehicle that's stood for long periods get a smart charger, as the Aux battery having minor part to play in the scheme of things, doesn't have a great deal of capacity. Mine only does 2 or 3,000 k a year so needs a boost after 3 or 4 weeks none usage, I have cut down the charging need greatly by sticking a 10w portable solar charger on the dash. It doesn't really add much charge but combats any drain created in sunnier months.
  7. I changed mine for the one you have listed at Lexus it's a Yuasa AGM with Toyota branding. It's about as good as you can get and when I bought mine it was the cheapest available including inferior online none AGM types. They fitted it free and did a free tyre nail removal while I was there 😃 I only use Lexus B'ham now for all my needs great customer service
  8. Although my car is low mileage and serviced yearly, the changing of modern day engine oils is unnecessary at low mileage. The "oils ain't oils" day are long gone, with oil companies stating their oils are now good for 30,000 miles or more and why high end makers like Jaguar etc now have 2 year or 24,000 mls service intervals. Unless there is a mechanical issue, recommending 5,000ml routine oil changes is just a cash grab for techs, with no benefit, unnecessary expense and a perfectly good oil turned into a waste product that we are leaving our kids to deal with 😗
  9. Worth noting that low cost TPMS valve servicing kits are available and recommended every new tyre change and is normal practice by tyre fitters foc. If the stem is cut off because of cap corrosion the chances are the repair could be done without the expense of a new sensor, by just using the service kit.
  10. This is what you get from Lexus It's a Toyota branded yuasa AGM battery made in korea' Lexus supply them to owners way below online and battery outlet prices. Think I paid around £100 fitted by lexus 2 or 3 years ago they did a free nail in tyre repair while I was there 😁
  11. I have a 3year plan 2 full 80k and 100k and 1 intermediate 90k services, it fixes the price at current rates, so in itself a kind of discount. £1155 paid off at £35 a month x33
  12. We have used Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric on all our cars over recent years, with the exception of the CT200h. The Goodyear are a top performance tyre for sportier cars with low noise superior grip and good wear. On the Ct200h I have let Lexus fit the Yokohama tyres and am happy with the way they are preforming so far. Having said that it's not the sort of car that lights up the tarmac 😄 they required changing from age date expiry rather than wear lol!
  13. So after 2 weeks of leaving the 5w panel on the dash while parked up. I have found that although there is very little, if any increase in battery voltage, there doesn't seem to be any voltage loss from being stood with the occasional door operation etc like I would have previously experienced. It's still early days and the weather has been mixed but it looks like I should be able to extend the time considerably before any hook up to my CTek takes place. On reflection, I should have done a full charge first and paid a little extra for the 10w version, but it is what it is lol!
  14. So when I tested the panel on a bright day today I got readings of .135A and 21.49v ??? Thoughts appreciated Herbie 😉
  15. Cheers Herbie The cars in first thing for suspension rubbers ( under warranty 😄) so I will do some checks when I get it back. The spec states 0.3A short circuit current and 0.28A maximum working current, not sure of the relationship of the 2. It would appear however it may not be up to doing the job required. I should have bought the 10W model I guess, as that is 0.61A CS and0.56A MWC. Think it was the compactness of the 5w model 20 x23cm V 36x23cm that tempted me, still at £14 it's not a big loss if it's not fit for purpose and the 10w is only £23.
  16. So today I bought a cheap 5w solar panel from amazon and after searching in my odds box, found an old ctek connector.I removed the croc clips of one of the solar supplied leads and soldered the old CTek connector on. I already have the quick connect lead in the boot so am now able to quick connect the charger or panel. For the time being I have put the panel in the rear side passenger window, the darker tint doesn't seem to reduce the numbers much looking at the multimeter. I am just hoping it will reduce the need to connect the Ctek every few weeks to top up for standing charge lost. I will leave the panel permanently connected for the time being and check the battery state further down the track
  17. The moon roof is slightly different and designed for people who only go out at night
  18. Have you a buyers link for that?
  19. Ctek is suitable for all car batteries, it's just that the reconditioning feature is only of use on wet cell batteries. I have a CTek comfort lead in the boot for quick connect it is also useful for checking battery voltage across the pins with a multimeter instead of pulling the trim out to get to the battery terminals
  20. I bought the same one a couple of years ago great bit of kit. I have started about 8 cars with it but never one of my own lol! Still it is nice finding the occasional bottle of wine in the porch from thankful neighbours. I use it to power the tyre inflator or the dash cam if I am going to leave the car parked up for an extended period and want the cam left on. The lamps and phone charger are nice touches too and stored alongside a Ctek smart charger seems to cover most of my needs.
  21. Even though mine is well valued, so are the later stock items, it would still mean me parting with around £10/£12k for a 3-4 year newer model with similar mileage on the clock Not many changes post 2014 that would entice me to part with the funds required, plus pre 2017 will always remain road tax free. Looking at our current usage, if that remained the same it would still read less than 70,000 mls in another 10yrs time 😀 I think now they are discontinued and never sold in huge numbers I may just make it a showroom condition project and keep it. 😉
  22. I am getting a fair amount of contact by Lexus sales asking if I am in the market to upgrade to a later model as trade in's are at an all time high at present. Problem is, most of the newer ones have higher mileage than my 43k 2014 model, FSH. and kept in VG condition that I don't see much of an upside in doing a deal. Interesting to see that a Lexus approved 4 year old CT is now priced at over £6k mor than when I bought mine in 2018. In fact even a similar 2014 spec is now fetching over £2500 more than my 2014 cost 4 years ago when purchased in 2018. Must admit it does give me that warm fuzzy feeling knowing that I have a car that hasn't dropped like a stone value wise, compared to many others I have owned 😉
  23. On a more positive note, thieves have now found it easier to target Electric Car charging cables 😄 Coupled with the fact makers are now using less of the expensive materials in cats and making them easier to identify perhaps we will see some lessening in cat thefts.
  24. The SPORT (not the F Sport) came with what looks like a Black panoramic roof incorporating a sun roof. and, Black wing mirrors, Black wheels and Black front grille surround. It had the standard grille pattern though not the nicer F type one. Of course it looks like a glass roof from the outside but having not been inside one it could be high gloss black paint giving the appearance of being Glass. Still looks the dogs though, 😘 One here on Autotrader 2016 Multicolour Lexus CT 200h 1.8 Sport CVT Euro 6 (s/s) 5dr for sale for £14,249 in WESTMINSTER, BOROUGH OF WESTMINSTER (autotrader.co.uk)
  25. The annoying continues Buzzer is purely to inform the driver that reverse gear is selected. It is only heard inside the car and not outside, so doesn't act as a pedestrian warning. Some owners have said a quick detour to Lexus and they can silence it for you so it just gives one beep on first selection.
