  3. What car top 25 most reliable and it's up there again @ 99.3%, equal with the Auris Hybrid. Guess I already new that, with our 2014 having zilch go wrong in our near 5 years ownership 🙂
  4. I cured my problem by transferring my music to a new, smaller 8gb usb. I had tried using other previously used usb sticks and they all created issues with playback. I concluded it was something to do with the formatting of previous devices. Dunno! But what I do know is I have had no issues in the 3 years since 😉
  5. I did, 30years in Australia, many in tropical North Queensland, returned 2015. Loving it here at the moment but have duel citizenship just in case 😉
  6. I only did that once, because once I had driven off the water on the drive froze solid and both my wife and daughter went arse over tip when they left home Made my life hell for over a week, never again lol!
  7. Just to add, take your wipers off auto before starting the car in case they are frozen to the screen, and damage the rubber
  8. Anyone got a make life easy driving tip for winter? My starter for ten. When defrosting the front screen with blower on. Drop down the sun visors to recirculate the air back down the screen instead of over your head. Makes for a quicker and more comfortable exercise 😉
  9. Doesn't take much standing around for the battery to drop below 12v on these cars. Whether you replace it or not I would advise getting a smart charger with a comfort lead in the boot for easy access, if the car is stood for a week or 2. Changed mine soon after buying the car 2018 and the new one didn't really perform much better than the old one . Voltage check is not a true analysis of the the battery condition only that the voltage is low. If you get something like a cheap battery tester for Xmas £20-£30 😉 it will tell you, cranking amps, battery condition, charging amps, voltage etc and if the battery needs changing or just charging. Even at 11.5v mine reads good condition and does not need changing. Of course the reason for the low voltage could be another can of worms. Even so, as long as the battery can get you to ready. in Hybrid battery mode you shouldn't really be experiencing low voltage issues. I have had a booster pack for many years much to the delight of neighbours every winter who reward me with winter wine 😂 Never need to use it on any of my own vehicles yet touchwood, but the great LED torch, tyre pump and phone charging functions are useful additions to have.
  10. It's just common sense to have the driver on the right hand. It means passengers can exit the car in safety.
  11. Problem was it had full Lexus service history when I bought it although in another City. I presumed there was a chance they could have been responsible for the damage, as I believe it is normal practise for them to renew key batteries every Major service. I cannot fault the customer service I now get at Birmingham Lexus, but my service instructions now are, Do not wash the car or change the fob battery 😉 \
  12. Cr2032 doesn't fit, it's too big, I keep a spare 1632 at home with the spare key fob. I also rotate the key fobs at every yearly service to ensure it doesn't lose memory from lack of use. 😉
  13. I used to do ground up Mercedes V8 restorations including complete engine and FI diagnostic/rebuilds. My other hobby was making fast motorcycles lose weight and go faster, I have tools a plenty 🙂 But believe me there is no bigger PITA than a Ct200ch key fob that has had the screw heads rounded and a corner or 2 butchered on the plastic battery retaining cover, unless of course you are not averse to buying a new fob. 😂🤣🤣 I had to fabricate/glue the plastic covers these are the closest screws available I could find from a previous thread............... The required screw size is 1.6mm thread diameter, 3mm thread length with a head diameter of 3mm and a head depth of only 0.9mm. The only ones close to that my searches / enquires came up with were 3 correct dimensions but a pan head with a head depth of 1.42mm in SS. What's half a mill me thinks, sod all, but alas it was too much to allow the fob cover to slide back on. I got round it by sanding inside the fob cover to give a little extra clearance and a film of WD40. Job done. Now back to the Honda BlackBirds fuel injection strip down 😁
  14. Probably my only gripe about the ct200h is the silly screws located in the battery retaining cover. Use the wrong screwdriver and round the heads off at your peril. Both my keys had previously suffered the same fate, resulting in at least one of the corners being broken off to gain access to the battery. Removing the screws with a suitable extractor and repairing the broken corner was the easy bit but trying to match the replacement screws is a whole different ball game 😆 And no, Lexus don't supply.
  15. Agree, I have not heard of anyone with the Lexus Catloc fitted having one stolen. Perhaps it goes in the too hard basket, so they move on to easier pickings
  16. Not really worth contemplating when the yearly Lexus hybrid check gives you free Hybrid battery warranty for 15 years. Chances are most will have moved the car on by then and those that haven't may think a replacement is good value' Of all the cars I have owned or own the CT is the only one that has cost me zilch in repair costs (just servicing) so if I have to put my hand in my pocket after over 15year I will be well pleased 😄
  17. As the owner of a Motor Factor spare parts business for many years. It was evident to me that by far the worst offenders of dodgy work practices back then, were by the small independent Workshops. Many offering knock down hourly rates then loading the addons or skimping the work giving very poor value for money. In comparison there is always a hierarchy in Car Manufacture franchises, and any corners cut on the workshop floor will eventually come back and bite the dealer principle and could even result in the complete closure by the Manufacture of the offending franchise. Many dealers are very savvy with the practise of owner's marking service items so they can assess if the work was carried out and the repercussions it might have if not done as required. Hence why many will send a live vid to your phone to verify what problems they encounter. False economy cutting corners for Lexus when they are giving you a free 10-year warranty, who's going to pick up the damage bill? I'm not saying there are no shoddy mechanics employed but doubt it would be general dealer practice to encourage substandard work, with the likely downside if the s*** hits the fan. I guess if I was offered 2 guns to play Russian Roulette with, I would fancy the dealers to have the least bullets loaded. 😅
  18. They were first developed for the military and started getting popular in the early eighties for the higher end cars so possible to be AGM. There were also sealed wet cell batteries still available, considered maintenance free and more user friendly from a safety point of view than the top up type, so could have been either

  20. It depends. if you want to compare a cheap AGM with a cheap wet cell or a quality AGM with a quality wet cell. The scenario is the same the AGM is more efficient in its power storage and distribution. Like sized powered batteries will still have a 3-1 plus starting advantage in its life expectancy in favour of AGM and no sulfation. It's irrelevant if its needed or not Its progress " Lexus the luxury Vehicle division of Toyota" " In the pursuit of perfection" " ok guys get those quality batteries of and fit the wets, make sure the caps are tight a don.t spill anything" " Hmm! do we really need radial tyres or come to that lead free paint, what about using the Duckhams 20/50 engine oil" You couldn't make it up, even Lada fit AGM whether you need it or not 😅

  22. If in Doubt use normal mode 14.4v not AGM 14.7 as only certain AGM need 14.7V and will still charge correctly with 14.4v normal setting. Dear Sir; There are many different battery manufacturers and battery models on the market. Recommendations regarding charging voltage vary a bit. Most AGM- batteries are recommended to charge with normal 14.4V voltage. Some AGM- batteries (and Ca-Ca batteries) require 14.7V (snowflake) for best treatment. Please check with the battery manufacturer to get the correct information for your particular battery. If no information is possible to acquire, use normal charging option, 14.4V It suits most lead/acid batteries, including GEL, EFB, AGM, etc. It is better to charge with a bit too low voltage than too high.   23. Step backwards IMHO, it can only be from a cost saving point of view. Lexus were all about a quality step up from Toyota. The days of sulphuric acid leaking away in the boot should be long gone now 😄 I beg to differ 😉 On the efficiency comparison Agm will perform at least 3x the number of cycles than a wet, are maintenance free, are not subject to outside temp changes, do not leak, they cope with high discharge better and last much longer. Cons they are expensive, but you get what you pay for lol!
  24. My original comment was to purely point out that you cannot top up OE agm Lexus CT200h batteries as suggested and perhaps not a good idea to try. On the efficiency comparison Agm will perform at least 3x the number of cycles than a wet, are maintenance free, are not subject to outside temp changes, do not leak, they cope with high discharge better and last much longer. Cons they are expensive, but you get what you pay for lol! Having to refurbish something to extend its life is hardly a comparison to something that doesn't need refurbing to function longer. It's a bit like saying my Dunlop tyres have a longer life than your Goodyear if I retread them now and again 😁 My Jaguar XF-R sport AGM battery went close on 8year before replacement and was still working without any issues and is the norm for most AGM batteries. The only reason I changed it was the capacity was reading down to 65%. which is my favoured replacement signal. Never seen a wet cell get close to those numbers and if it did it would be the exception to the rule.
