  1. I think it just goes in neat??? or at least mine does
  2. I have got to question that ! the first track day at Barkston prooved otherwise Gord IS200 S/C......67.03 Dave Aristo.............63.56 Bazza Aristo............63.66 the results at the last meeting show that Gordon is no slouch, and I think many will back that up as you know Barkston is a handling track, there are no long straights there ! yet the aristo lead by almost 4 seconds on a track which favours the smaller cars :) Ok maybe the Aristo can handle, but i bet Dave ahs spent thousands of pounds getting it to that level. The Aristo is obviously more powerfull and quicker in a straight line. If i do buy an Aristo i don't want to be spending too much trying to get it to the same level the IS is at the moment! i still don't know???? But i have plenty of time to decide :P
  3. Completely agree with you! Like Chris has said im trying to do more track days and thats the reason i would like more power because the IS is a relatively low power car! I like the better refinement of the GS compared to the IS, hence why i am looking at it. The aristo is the same as the GS apart from the more powerfull engine so hence why i am swaying towards that. plus i will have better, more comfortable car for every day driving! The only thing that is making me think i should keep mine is that i think the IS will out handle the GS/Aristo and im going to have to spend alot to improve the handling to get it anywhere near my car. Where as my IS goes on rails and will soon be even better if i decide to get the arbs(although im not too sure if there is any point if im going to sell???). I may get the arb's and then decide i love the car that much more and keep it. Although to be honest i didn't do too bad at the sprint day at Barkston Heath, i came last yes but if you campare my times with cars that have double the amount of power and i was 3/4 seconds off some of their times! Jason :)
  4. I want an Aristo SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much but like people have said the only thing stopping me at the moment is that im sure im going to regreat it the second the IS is sold! Jason :P
  5. well i have had a few offers now for parts of my car but if it does go the only thing that will come off is the Plate, can't be arsed stripping it all down. Lots of people telling me to keep the car and only one telling me to sell
  6. Actually i paid £3000 for it! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .only joking £250 :D Depends how many cakes you can give me! :P Jason
  7. Was going for Sprint series but the kit car is taking up all my time and cash at the moment so had to pull out :( @ Mole, if i do sell up ang get something not Lexus orintaed then you are welcome to first dibs on the plate, not looking to make a profit if i do sell, just what i paid :) Jason :P
  8. My mate bought a 1200bhp drag engine for his Skyline, he has de-tuned it slightly (smaller turbo etc) and is now by random luck is making 666bhp at the wheels Think he is getting a number plate with 666 in it :) :D
  9. This is mine with a HKS Hiper (not the Silent) i have the added rear lip but i think it looks ok. When i first fitted it i thought it looked too big but i think the rear lip helps! Jason :P
  10. Know what you mean, i keep looking on supra.net and think that would be nice There was a well nice Aristo my bro found a few years ago that i would have killed for!!! black, deep dish wheels, black tints and a nice subtle kit but it had 1200bhp under the bonnet! bet that would have been well high mainternance though! Think Intercooler, induction, boost controller and exhaust would be more than enough for me!!!!
  11. Thanks Aido, helps me think i will really like having an Aristo. Ever since i was about 15 and my dad had a GS300 i have aLways liked them and the Aristo just seems like a good choice. Refinement of a GS but power of a Supra! I like sleeper cars as well and this is one of them, most people will think its just a tarted up GS but then you surprise the hell out of them as you race off. Would love a black one like you have and then nice deep dish wheels, exhaust, tints and a few other little mods to the engine. I don't want stupid power as it gets unreliable when you do go crazy and if i wanted nothing but power i wouldn't be looking at an Aristo. Jason :P
  12. Thanks Aido :) Was going to send you a message as i know you had a IS before your Aristo. Really helpfull stuff :) I know parts can be expensive and i know a little about the engine, my Bro (mkiv.net username Lockys96) used to have a Supra and worked a little on that. I didn't think the petrol would be much of a problem and its more the cost of parts that might be an issue, but you will always have this problem if you have a rare/import car. Obviously the IS is more common and parts are easier to come by. Jaosn :P
  13. I really want to like BMW/Merc's but i just hate them! i don't know what it is about them, i admit they are good cars but i really really don't like them and would never own one, maybe im just a bit strange?!?!?! :shutit: If i do get something new i can gaurantee it will be Japanese! Thanks everyone for all your inputs, its swaying me back to keeping it but im still uncertain! Think the turning point will be when the kit car is up and running!!!! If im driving the IS and then i take the little buggy out for a blitz it will make me appreciate the power more, where as if i have a hi powered car i will be going to a lower performance car?!?!?!? Keep your opinions coming people :) Jason
  14. Mine is the same as yours Steve, just yank it forward to remove it! Think it changed at some point, i believe Wozza's walkthrough is correct for his year of car Jason :P
  15. don't worry about the milage mate, mines has 150+ thousand miles on it and i supercharged it and i was fine., the only thing i would recommend is keep an eye on the coil packs but to be fair with engines with this higher mileage they are probably due to go anytime soon anyway. Don't sell it mate bneen down that road, Trust there is nothing else out there that is as good. Everything i look at from Civic Type R's to Skyliners, to Evo 9's to Supras have some missing which the IS200 has be it praticallity, style of just comfort. Trust me mate don't do it. I want something new but i really love this car, every day im smilling on my way to and from work! Something is making my want to just try something else?? If only there was a way i could have a GS for a week or so to just try it out??? Jason :P
  16. Already have two cars! so a third is a big no no! (see the link in my Signature). I may change my mind yet but i just don't know, i know im not going to get much for my car but the price of an Aristo/GS has also come down so swings and round abouts really. I might get the Kit Car on the road and just love it and keep the lexus. Problem is i want to dump a honda Vtec engine in the buggy but because its a joint project with a mate we both have to agree spending money on it. Im willing to spend the cash but he is not, even though he won £440,000 on the lottery!!!!!! I might sell i might not! Going to do a few more track days in this car first, not sure what an Aristo would be like on track compared to the IS????? Anyone else gone to an Aristo/GS from a IS??? Jason :P
  17. I would add a supercharger but there are two things against me on that one, 1: Mission Impossible to actually get hold of one. and 2: my car has done nearly 132k and don't want to risk destroying the engine. I don't see the point in adding the supercharger when i can sell my car and for the extra money i would spend on supercharging it i could buy a nicer car! @ Chris, thought about the Soarer, but Sarah doesn't like the interior. what with most of them not having leather although that is one of the car's at the top of my list. in fact its third on the list at the moment. Top of my list at the moment is an Aristo although im not sure about running costs??? And second on my list is a GS300 although im not keen on automatic cars, and i don't know if i should get a GS when i can have an Aristo. I really love my car but just want something different??? Who knows i may get the buggy done and just keep the IS but im almost certain its going to go. Jason :P
  18. Hi All, I think the time has come to move on. Im sure the second i do im going to regreat it but im almost certain i will sell my car this year. This is only the second car i have owned and i want to try something new. Now don't get me wrong i absolutely love my IS200 and love driving it, But something is making me want to sell up and get something more powerfull. Thats the only thing that i feel lets the IS down. I have owned this car for almost 5 years and Sarah really doesn't want to see it go, in fact she really aint happy about it! Think i will probably get the kitcar built first so i have something to drive while i look for another car, but what car???? Any thoughts people?? I have a few idea's but thought i would see what people suggest, thinking maybe something Turbo Jason :P
  19. Ok, for those interested its time for a little update. Took a few days off before Crimbo and blitzed the buggy for a bit. We managed to get the role cage padding all fitted on the car, not really needed but should help make it a bit safer to things we hit :shutit: Also got the speedo unit fitted roughly in place, excuse the steering wheel as this will be changed after SVA. we are leaving this one on for the moment as its nice and rubberey, will get chnaged for a tiny go-kart wheel later on :) Pedal box fitted and we have run new copper brake lines at the front and rear, just need to join them together. Again this will get changed after SVA for a pendulum pedal box but for now this will do :) Fitted new front discs and pads, calipers will be getting a coat of paint but we ran out of time :( Made and fitted a new front panel, this goes under the nose cone and will have all the electronics and fuse box mounted to it. Keeps it all nice and tidy and out of the way :) Fitted new rear brakes, painted the drums (this is after first coat, we gave it 3 in the end) and fitted new 10mm spacers to bring the rear wheels out a little more Cleaned the seat up, the seat we got for free from my work but it was ripped, dirty and needed the bottom retriming, now it almost looks like new...................almost :P We also have ordered up new front and rear bumper bars which are almost complete and we are currently filling in the SVA paperwork and will have it all sent off to be booked in by the end of the week :) Watch this space for future updates! Jason :P
  20. Bournemouth or Southampton for me
  21. I ran my all the wires down the sides of the car, if you open the front and rear doors you will see a plastic piece that runs along the floor at the edge, if you lift this up you will see that there are already several wires being run along this area. If you remove the rear seats then the wires can be fed all the way along and the piece just clip back in! :) Hope this helps, or at least makes some sense! :) Jason :P
  22. The speaker mount is fixed back to the door with bolts and nylock nuts, they originally have rivets that need to be drilled out. I made the holes bigger to take larger sized bolts, I used the same sticker seal stuff to fix it to the door as well, it stops it from rattling. The pictures don't show it but i have also applied several layers of dynomat behind the speakers to help with the sound. Makes sense to do it while you have everytrhing off, just an idea! Jason :P
  23. I also had problems when fitting new front door speakers as they are SOOOOOOO deep that when the window came down they hit the magnets on the rear of the speakers. I had to destroy the original front speakers to create a template to mount the new ones!!! old speakers cut to pieces! new ones are too deep! Used some ultra sticky membrane seal, this stuff is used to seal under floor damp proof membranes and sticks like :tsktsk: fitted into the door brings the new speaker out to the correct position. and with it all finally in place! I also have the S model, its the best model if your going to upgrade the sound system as you don't have the additional amp to fight with and the new headunit will just plug straight in with the additional lead. :) Jason :)
  24. Me and Sarah will be there as Usual
  25. Looks great Chris, Any chance you still have a template for this???? Or even a piece of paper that you can make a rough template???? Really want to make one of these now, although mine will have to be different as the prolex induction will foul on it :( Keep up the good work mate, how's the clock going??? :P :P Jason :)
