  1. There are some pics in the My is250 thread on page 2, I have had the car for 6 months now and it does everything it should do with no fuss or problems ride and handling are much better since I took the P Zero's off, my only real complaint is I wish it either had an extra 20bhp or a flatter torque curve as comming from 330 BMW's and C350 mercs it lacks a little bit of get up and go
  2. I origanally wanted a Blue or Bright red SEL and looked at a few but could not find the right combination of condition, milage and history, I eventually settled for a grey 58 plate SE with 1 owner, 30k and full lexus service history that was a really good price, to be fair the only thing that I wish it did have that the SEL has is bluetooth for my phone, the rest of the extras I can live without. The seats are still heated electric leather and as only I drive it the memory function does not really bother me. I use my phone for Sat Nav as I did in my last car that had built in Sat Nav as I find google maps is better for live updates and speed camera's etc. The 6 disc CD is fine along with the radio (the DAB signal is rubbish where I live so AM/FM is ok) and I can still attach my phone for more music through the aux socket so my advice would be look for the best car you can find and don't be blinkered by spec and colour
  3. going back to the original post as a guide I bought my 2008 SE manual with 32k on the clock about 4 months ago from a local main dealer (not lexus) , it has a full lexus service history and is in very good condition with only minimal signs of wear, there are a couple of stone chips on the front bumper and a slight scuff on one wheel arch, other than that there is not much I can say about it, everything works as expected and drives superbly, I paid £4800 which included a 12 month warranty
  4. When I bought my car it had P Zero's all round and they were awful, very noisy, didn't grip particularly well and just felt a little vague, having had very good experiences with Uniroyal rainsport 3's on previous cars I fitted these all round. The difference was like night and day, suddenly there was next to no road noise, a much smoother ride and better feel plus the grip levels of the uniroyals are really good and in the wet they don't seem to lose any of the grip. The only downside is they tend to wear a little quicker than say Michilen Pilots etc but at £60-70 per corner you can buy 2 sets of Uniroyals to one set of Pilots, (last set of Uniroyals I had I got about 20k rears and 25k fronts on a 290bhp rear wheel drive car). Upto now on the IS they are doing very well
  5. I have a set on mine only done about 1k miles on them so just bedding in they are very good and yes i do get they are not high mileage tyres as I previousy had them on my last car and got about 20k out of a set of rears on a 290bhp merc coupe but i was more than happy to live with wear rate considering the levels of grip in both the dry and especially the wet that I got from them given that I could buy 2 uniroyals for the price of a micelin
  6. I get around 28-32 around town from my manual, but it does not include much heavy traffic driving, on a run on the motorway I get about 38-40 sat at 80mph which I am more than happy with (previous car 15 around town and 30 on a run if I was lucky)
  7. Much better since I put some decent tyres on it, the garage had put 4 cheap Chinese things on, what a difference decent rubber makes, super quiet and planted to the road now
  8. Got a lot of catching up to do only just past 33K on my 08 is250
  9. I have just put 4 Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on my IS250 and they feel pretty good, had them on my Merc C350 coupe before and they were good on that also, good levels of grip in the dry and didn't seem to lose any grip at all in the wet which was pretty good considering they were putting nearly 300bhp onto the road in a very tail light rear wheel drive car. Also very quiet, only down side is they do wear a little quicker than some tyres (I got about 20k out of the rears on the merc and probably another 5k from the fronts), also you can usually get them at a decent price, I paid £68 each for the fronts and £85 for the rears, a bit of a bargain when you consider the wet performance you are getting

    Hi

No not from a Lexus dealer, but a reputable local dealer, and he gave me a great deal on my C class C350 AMG coupe...cost me next to nothing to change

    Hi

Hi to everyone, after the usual run of BMW's and Merc's , I took the plunge with a 08 reg IS250 se in dark grey with one previous owner a full Lexus service history and 31k on the clock. Absolute bargain compared to similar German metal and unless I was going 5series or E class the Lexus is miles ahead on both quality and equipment . Ok it's a little older than I would have liked but only paid £4.5k for it so left me lots more cash than if I had gone for the usual suspects. Love the drive, the general feel of quality and the fact that the world and his wife doesn't have one...looking forward to putting lots more trouble free miles on the clock and hopefully no major issues. Any advice on things to look out for will be appreciated Thanks John
