  1. I've had my RC F for 2y 4m, no plans to change in the foreseeable future. It's 4 1/2 yrs old but only has 23k on, and as I only do about 8k a year it will be a while before it's a high mile car. I plan to run it under the Lexus extended warranty programme. Still enjoying the car each time I go out in it, and I view it as a lot of car for the money i.e. to get something appreciably better and / or newer would require a step up in value.
  2. Yes that's it, just off pyramid roundabout. A Lexus service history is important for these vehicles, particularly at resale time, and servicing is good value - averages about £500 / year.
  3. Welcome WB, great choice, I've had mine just over 2 years now and it's still growing on me! I live in south Warrington and regularly travel around the north west for work, and I've only ever seen 2 others on the road in this region. I can highly recommend Lexus Stockport for servicing - they have a great, personable team and really look after you. Happy motoring!
  4. I live in south Warrington and used to see this car around sometimes, was easy to notice with the plate. As someone else has mentioned it was at Lexus Hull recently so I presume it's now moved away from here.
  5. Previous post was deleted for breaching rules, so if anyone's interested I have posted details of a Quicksilver exhaust for sale in the Parts for Sale section. Hopefully this one is allowed to stay up! Thanks John
  6. Haven't tried them in either, but the 911 is definitely smaller in the back. I put my work bag (laptop / briefcase size) behind the driver's seat in the RC F, it used to go on the back seat in the 911. The roof line of the 911 also tapers off more quickly so headroom is lower.
  7. I had a 997.2 GTS manual coupe for a year and 10,000 miles. The 911 has superb steering - you appreciate it almost as soon as you start rolling - and is very quick on a back road as you can carry plenty of speed in the twisty stuff. I also enjoyed having a 911 for a period and it was good to 'tick the box'. The main downside for me was noise - there is a lot of tyre roar, and wind noise around the windscreen from about 60-70 ; on the motorway you had to crank the volume up on the radio, or slow down to have a normal conversation on the phone (hands free of course!). Overall it didn't work for me as a daily driver hence just one year, but they'd be a great weekend toy. I also had a couple of issues - clutch switch left me stranded on the drive and the horn stuck on once, which was embarrassing! It was taken away by the RAC twice during my ownership. The RC F is a much better daily driver but not as much of a drivers' car. Horses for courses!
  8. I agree with the replies above. I checked with Lexus Stockport before getting them to fit the Quicksilver system to my RC F.
  9. @Big Rat was very helpful and showing a keen interest in all matters 'F' when I bought my Quicksilver in mid-June, might just be away?
  10. Thanks @Flytvr and @Silkmen - very helpful, much appreciated.
  11. Further to my recent post re Quicksilver & warranty, I bought a new rear section from Quicksilver and had it fitted at Lexus Stockport this morning. I am delighted with the appearance and sound - what a noise! First impressions are that it's best in the 2 k to 3.5 k rev range under acceleration, but so quiet on a steady or trailing throttle - perfect for everyday use. No intrusion at all when cruising on the motorway. The dealership did however expect it come with new fixing bolts and springs, but all I received was two exhaust rear sections. They advised it is fine for now and there's a good seal where it bolts onto the main exhaust system, but that it may start to blow in a few months and to keep my ear open. To those on here that bought new, did the exhaust come with fixings?
  12. Thanks for the update @V8ORBUST. These last two posts have just upped my excitement level - I've ordered the Quicksilver, but they didn't have any on the shelf so it'll be a couple of weeks before it is manufactured. Can't wait!
  13. Update. Spoke to the service manager at Lexus Stockport - he wouldn't give me contact details for the regional manager at TWG "we're not at liberty to give out contact details" but he did confirm that fitment of a rear section aftermarket system would not affect the warranty. He commented that they see quite a few slightly modified cars, and he's happy to fit the system. Next step - get it ordered! (I think I'm right in saying that @Big Rat has sold his and @V8ORBUST bought the other used one that was mentioned in the thread above). Thanks for the input that led me here...
  14. Fair play - you don't mess about! Enjoy - look forward to your views once you've experienced it!
  15. Thanks @DAW, I found your original post on this last night and that is my intention: Lexus Stockport -> TWG area manager -> Stockport dealer fit if all is well. Like you I value dealer fit.
  16. Hi @B1 RMA, I appreciate the thought, that would be helpful but yes quite a journey! I'd be very interested in your feedback after the test though - I'm pretty busy at the moment and doubt I'll have made any progress on a purchase within the next couple of weeks. I assume then that the exhaust doesn't cause you any frustration in day to day use?! Thanks. John
  17. Hello All Thanks very much for the feedback and info - much appreciated. I'll look at @DAW's old thread then get in touch with TWG. Appreciate that I can't expect anything changed to be covered, but I'm just after something from the warranty provider to support the rest of the cover. Local dealer is Stockport (who are great to deal with) but if they're not familiar with the system I have no problem taking a trip to Cheltenham (I won't be doing this DIY). @Big Rat - thanks for your input, I may well be in touch as I have no issue buying used vs. new. The QS exhaust sounds ideal. I do spend a lot of time on the motorway so the last thing I would want is any boom or drone when cruising, but I would like the engine to sound like a 5 ltr V8 at other times. I look forward to progressing this! Thanks again. John
  18. Hello All I have a 2016 RCF, white with dark rose interior. Superb car, definitely a keeper, but audibly a little reserved for its own good! The car has an extended warranty to August 2021 from the Lexus BOGOF deal. (Car bought from a dealer in August 18, dealer used warranty + 2 years extended). I have seen references on here to the Quicksilver exhaust not affecting the warranty cover; how do I go about getting this confirmed by Lexus / TWG before proceeding to buy and fit the exhaust? Thanks in advance for any advice. John
