  1. Lex-Tek Autos in Sheffield, I have spoken to them a couple of times and they came across well. I'm Still 50/50 whether to go down dealership servicing route or use them. Interested to hear your thoughts if you take a look at them.
  2. That I'm glad they took ownership of the issue and agreed to compensation. I've just received confirmation my refurb payment has been processed and will be in my bank by the end of the week. Fair play to the supplier they have looked after me and I would use them again, however I be will keeping a very keen eye on the next tyre fitter!
  3. I did just that, comparison below: 50k service £375 with Lexus, specialist £240. 60k service £875 with Lexus, specialist £600. 32% saving on average isn't huge, I think I may go with Lexus this time and then revisit the question next year.
  4. Thanks for all the input, I was 50/50 yesterday before asking the question. By 5pm I was in the no brainer Lexus service camp, now I'm back being 50/50 🤣🤣🤣 I plan on having the car for 7+ years as I do like to hold onto my cars and when I come to sell it I expect the car to be 10+ years old. I've owned nothing but Lexus cars for the past 18 years and in all that the time the only thing I've had fail on me (excluding consumables) are ball joints on my first Lexus (IS200). I appreciate previous non F ownership may not be that relevant, but to me I have confidence in the brand and how reliable they are.

  6. Spent a bit of time reading Pistonheads re performance car servicing and it seems a 50/50 split between dealership and specialist indy garage based on a few threads. A lot of the indy posters prefer invoices etc and don't trust dealership and their stamps. I had a previous Lexus serviced at Lexus and once they quoted me £600 for a new water pump due to a leak, took it to a local garage as it was a common issue and he replaced a pipe for £25 which fixed the problem. Since then I've always been a bit dubious of dealerships.
  7. Thanks for the responses and sounds like it's a no brainier to maintain a Lexus service history. I would happily purchase an F car from a private seller with a full non-Lexus service history, however I thought I would be in the minority and based on the answers above, I sure am. I will look into service plans, I was offered one at a discount when I purchased the vehicle, however I declined it as I didn't fancy a 300 mile round trip for every service!
  8. I have a few weeks until a service is due on my RCF and I don't intend to take out an extended warranty once my Lexus warranty expires. With this in mind I'm toying with the idea of getting it serviced at a Lexus specialist semi-local to me. I've spoken to the garage and they came across very well and have I've read nothing but positive reviews/feedback. They are ~40% cheaper than Lexus and use genuine Lexus parts 👍 I plan on keeping the car for several years, adhere to the service schedule and keep all invoices/receipts for all work carried out during my ownership. Do you think the above is a good idea? Would it put you off buying an F car that had been serviced at reputable specialist garage rather than a dealership? I appreciate the garage isn't what Litchfield is to Nissan GT-Rs, but they are a Lexus specialist nevertheless. Interested to hear your thoughts.

  10. Same experience for me, purchased my car from Lexus and they put cheap rubber on. I had travelled 150 miles to purchase the car and was surprised at their choice of tyre, I assumed the car would be wearing PSS as per OEM spec. I did the deal anyway and enjoyed hammering the rears knowing they were going.
  11. I got all 4 PS4S fitted for £685 after being emailed a 10% discount code. The code still works, the supplier and fitter was Tyres on the Drive. However the fitter knackered my alloys, used them 2/3 times in the past without issue though. They agreed to cover the cost of the refurb so can't complain and much prefer the wheels post refurb. The code is TREAD10, might be worth trying it.

  13. Wheels have been powder coated, just need to finish things off with chrome delete. I previously had Korean ditch finders on and straight away noticed then difference after switching to PS4S, especially in the wet 👍
  14. Wheels are booked in next week for the refurb, gone with Palladium Grey (pic below) 👍 Had a palladium wheel in stock and looked good when put next to my car so took the plunge. Also agreed to supply some paint for future DIY kerbing repairs. I've been quoted £140+ VAT for the window chrome delete and will see how the car looks post wheel refurb before deciding on the the delete.
  15. I've always been a Goodyear man, but I've heard nothing but good things about the Michelins so decided to change it up. Thanks for the colours chaps, found a refurb place in Manchester that also does chrome delete. Very tempted to go with satin black around the windows to match the darker wheels.
  16. Good news! The company in question have come back to me and agreed to pay for all 4 wheels to be refurbished at a company of my choosing. i'm tempted to get them powder coated in a dark gunmetal grey as I've never been a fan of the diamond cut finish and prefer darker alloys. Any reasons not to go down the powder coated route?

  18. Had the PS4S fitted today by a mobile fitter and he damaged 3 wheels, under inflated all tyres and lost one of my metal dust caps and replaced it with a black plastic one. To make it worse the fitter starting driving off whilst I was inspecting his work, managed to stop him and he told me he wasn't aware of the damage (yeah right). Already spoken to customer services and gave them both barrels. I expect refurb on the wheels and some compensation due shocking service.
  19. I'm having PS4S fitted today, I hope they last longer than 8k miles. Otherwise I'll want my money back!
  20. I purchased the correct nuts (local engineering wholesalers) to use with the standard lexus bolts, but was still unable to use the stock bolts due to their length. Fortunately stock exhaust and bolts are stored in my shed and can easily be refitted if required. Interesting QS confirms the springs aren't required, I made sure they were fitted after reading a few horror stories on the web re cracked exhausts after being without them.
  21. Hi John I purchased mine second hand from Dav and installed it myself. I used the stock springs (after cleaning them up), but purchased bolts, nuts and washers. Dav kindly supplied fixings with the exhaust, but I switched them out for 10mm bolts for a better fit. The bolts I used were longer than stock due to the increase flange thickness vs the OEM exhaust. I did however use the stock bolts to determine the spring length when fastening the exhaust together. I also used additional nuts as locking nuts to ensure the bolts wouldn't work loose. Just to be sure I got my mechanic friend to give it a once over and he was happy with fixings and he gave it 👍
