  1. The sensors arrived Saturday morning and I can't believe how small all the components are. I'll get some pictures before I fit them. Can anybody answer my last question please: How easy/hard is it to remove the front and rear bumpers on a Series II GS 430 Sport? Any tips etc?
  2. I bought a front and rear PD1 set today from eBay and it was about £30 cheaper than buying them both directly from Parking Dynamics even though it appears to be their own eBay store (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Parking-Sensor-Direct). One question I haven't asked you lot though is: How easy/hard is it to remove the front and rear bumpers on a Series II GS 430 Sport?
  3. I've got a strange knocking noise at the rear of my car and it sounds like it's the left side (near side). My Dad thought it was the tools etc that are in the boot, but I wasn't convinced because the knocking happens at slow speeds which aren't enough to make things move with enough force to sound as loud as it does. I removed everything anyway and as soon as I pulled off the drive this morning the noise was still there. All I can tell you is it happens at slow speeds when I'm entering and leaving driveways that have a slight slope up to them, like the ones where you have to cross a path, when the car is twisted and flexing whilst steering, usually to the left. The sound doesn't happen in a straight line or going over bumps in the road or speed bumps and I can't replicate it with the car stationary and bouncing the suspension. I haven't jacked it up to have a look yet and will get the dealer to have a look when they've got it on the ramps for the service, but I was wondering if anybody here had any suggestions as to what it might be. It's annoying and doesn't sound good, but hopefully it's something simple due to the infrequency of it. :(
  4. I didn't get an option when I bought mine a few years ago, but the dash display was matt black and the roof mount was more grey than beige. The roof mount actually clips on the roof lining by sliding it on at the back and then you put the plastic surround over it which hides the fitting and looked professional.
  5. I don't think I can be bothered to drill the bumpers out this time and silver can be a pain to colour match.
  6. Here's what I asked Parking Dynamics and their reply: It was an aftermarket kit and was powered whenever the brake pedal was pressed regardless of the speed, which wasn't a problem because you were only near things when parking or in traffic so it was never an annoyance. It had the same tone for the front and rear so I might just get two rear sets and avoid the switch altogether. I had an aftermarket system like that on my Series I Sport, it was made by Steelmate and I'm sure it was the PTS800MN. http://www.steel-mate.co.uk/acatalog/Front..._Sensors_2.html
  7. It's a shame these aren't user selectable. It would make it much easier to resolve my transmitter window roll up problem.
  8. I've sent Parking Dynamics an e-mail today with some questions around the front sensor and alternate wiring. I'll post their response.
  9. Interesting. According to the table data there isn't an option to close the windows via the transmitter. I thought you could do this, but with my recently acquired GS 430 Sport the windows and sunroof open using the remote, but will not close with the remote. They will however close when you hold the key in the lock position. I'm going to ask my local delear about this when I take it in for its service.
  10. Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I've got the same problem with my recently acquired GS 430 Sport, the windows and sunroof open using the remote, but will not close with the remote. They will however close when you hold the key in the lock position. I'm going to ask my local delear about this when I take it in for its service.
  11. I had a look into the PD1 today and noticed the front one uses a switch you have to press to activate it and press again to deactivate it. The front parking sensors on my GS300 were activated with the brake pedal, which is ideal with an automatic, so I was wondering if you could simply fit a rear PD1 to the front and wire it into the brake light like my old system, although this one was designed for this because it remained powered for several seconds after you released the brake pedal. What do you think?
  12. They do from that angle, but aren't when you look at them any other way. I like to leave my fans on airflow, but this car likes to default to recirculate the next time you start it up, not all the time though. Is there a way to leave it on airflow unless I press the button myself to change it?
  13. I tried that and it didn't work, I think the setting on the Series I is NF, so I guess it's just a feature of the Series II.
  14. It's odd they go down via the remote and not up, I would have thought the feature wouldn't work at all if there was a problem rather than just one way, especially as it works via the key in the lock.
  15. It looks like the Taurus system has been discontinued and is now branded as the Parking Dynamics PD1. I assume it's the same product, maybe using newer electronics. Has anybody here used the PD1 and fitted it to both the front and rear of a Series II GS 430/300 Sport, I'm particularly interested in the front fitting as I imagine this is a little more complicated than the rear. http://www.parkingdynamics.co.uk/Vehicle-S...ng-Dynamics-PD1
  16. Mine definitely doesn't work with the remote. I can get out of the car and put the key in the door and hold it closed once and the windows will close, but no matter what I do with the remote they will not close, yet they will open with the remote. Is there a way to reprogram the remote?
  17. Is there a way to stop the aerial from extending when you're using the stereo but not the radio, i.e. the CD player? You can on the Series I.
  18. Thanks! Please could I see one of the side of the car with the entire car in the shot.
  19. I've played with the windows a bit more and I can get them to open as described with the disarm button, but I can't get them to close via the arm button. They close using the key and holding it in the closed position though.
  20. I tried these when I went to look at the car and nothing happened, but I've just tried holding the unlock button with the car locked and armed and the indicators blinked twice and the windows opened until I let go of the button. Does this mean the car is now unlocked too? After doing the above, if I hold the lock key, the indicators flash once and nothing happens. Does this mean the car is now locked? What do the different number of indicator flashes mean, for example I just unarmed it and they flashed five times?
  21. This works on the LS apparently: It's a shame there isn't an option to disable it on the GS. :(
  22. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...?threadid=23510 I found this a long time ago and kept it bookmarked. Can thse settings be applied to UK cars by our dealers, in particular a 2003 GS 430?
  23. I had to get my Series I Sport's front springs changed last year after they had both snapped. I started a thread about it and it includes part number talk from post #17: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=34331
