  1. They don't even list the GS correctly. The V6 engine wasn't used until the current Series III model, Series I and II were in-line 6 engines.
  2. Thanks Alan! I don't want it any lower than standard but just wondered if there were any cheaper aftermarket springs that offered the same factory ride height. I got the part numbers and prices for the OEM Sport springs from Lexus: Front: GBNGA-SP002-F £240.60 + VAT Rear: GBNGA-SP002-R £240.60 + VAT They said only the broken ones would need replacing and not all four and just the springs, no bushes etc. They quoted 2.4 hours labour just to do the front. Does anybody know anywhere else I might be able to get the OEM parts cheaper?
  3. My 1996 Series I Sport's doesn't work from far away, separate remote, but my Dad's 1994 regular Series I, which has the button integrated into the key, works from up to 20 feet away easily.
  4. I'm probably going to change all four springs, but should I go with OEM parts or are there any aftermarket alternatives you can recommend that are the same ride height as Series I Sport OEM springs and offer any benefits like lower cost, better performance, etc?
  5. Merry Christmas to you, LOC members and the LOC team, and thank you for the card and gift! Have a great New Year everybody!
  6. Is that wise? Surely it will mess up the geometry etc and lead to unnecessary tyre wear. If not though, how low can you go before it does? Any aftermarket recommendations?
  7. OEM or are there any aftermarket alternatives that are the same ride height as Series I Sport OEM springs and offer any benefits like cost, performance, etc?
  8. I still haven't sorted out my front springs, but need to soon and was wondering if it's worth replacing all four at the same time or just the broken front ones and should I buy OEM or after market?
  9. The Sport is 25mm lower than a regular GS and the lowering is achieved by shorter springs only. http://www.lexus.co.uk/approved_preowned/s...+SAFETY+SYSTEMS I believe all Sports came into the UK as regular GS 300s and then Lexus GB converted them to Sports by making the relevant changes.
  10. I searched and couldn't see that this had been posted before, so apologies if it has: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/clips/lexus-sel...-%20-196551.php
  11. I've serviced all my brakes and re-greased and I've replaced both my front ball joints, after an MOT failure last year, and it still creaks. It might be worth checking your front springs too: http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=34331
  12. I had a look at the springs today and sure enough they are both broken at the bottom on the smallest coil, about 2-3 inches of spring has snapped off. The passenger side was a clean break and the small part was loose so I removed it without any force. It looks like they have been broken for a while, there is too much corrosion at the break point for it to be recent, yet they hadn't been noticed on previous services or MOTs. That said on initial inspection I couldn't see the breaks and it was only because I was looking for them that I saw them, otherwise they were easy to miss. The breaks might explain the intermittent creaks that have come from the front of the car since I've had it.
  13. That's not a bad price if it's for all four. I believe that's the case with the Series I Sport, they're lowered simply by using shorter springs. How easy were they to fit? Were any special tools required like spring compressors for example?
  14. So was I, especially after the car didn't need a B service which saved me £200. There goes that money!
  15. I had my car serviced today and one of the things was ticked red and amber on the Vehicle Safety Report, it was for Steering/Suspension commenting that both my front coil springs were broken. I have a 1996 GS300 Sport and believe the springs are shorter than the normal GS, so would like to know the correct part number(s), price and what they are like to change? Please can anybody help?
  16. I believe there are two speakers under the grille in the centre of the dash (left and right).
  17. I'm curious to know the size and ohms of the Series I sub too. I have a couple of 12" JL W0s in the loft that were from a previous install and it seems a waste to not be using at least one of them, along with the other kit up there.
  18. I think removing the EFI fuse for 30-60 seconds also resets the ECU. Check this in the Knowledge Base though.
  19. The wheels look to be in good condition and still shiny. Mine weren't great when I got my Sport, except for one of the fronts, and despite regularly washing the brake dust and dirt off they have gotten worse and only the one that was already good is still shiny. It looks a bit silly when I've cleaned the car because three of the wheels look grey and one looks like it should, smooth and shiny.
  20. It also has an effect on the way the fuel pump functions, which I believe inadvertently improves fuel economy, albeit slightly. I always leave Ect Pwr on as I prefer how the car drives with it.
  21. I signed my Dad and myself up and sent the link to some friends last week.
  22. I think you mean http://www.pipelinecard.org.
  23. I mainly use Sainsbury's regular unleaded and put in £20 at a time and usually get around 90 miles town driving.
