Does anyone know by looking at the Vin number on their UX what Year and Month the vehicle was made. I have googled how to and various sites tell you the structure how a Vin is produced. However im struggling to interpret my Vin produced by Lexus. Thanks in anticipation Brent

Well some interesting replies here thanks. So reading your threads have i interpreted correctly by thinking the paddle shifters change the revs, and by simply easing off the accelerator or taking the foot off completely especially going downhill (like you would get going to Cornwall down the A30) . This would put regen energy back into the battery and you would be travelling in EV mode. This B mode thing confused me at first i thought is it braking. Colin then mentions this B mode is only available on the CT. So it isnt on the UX. By the way i have a confession i never use the paddle shifters and i never did in the Audi. Do you think i should. Before i purchased the UX i watched a lot of you tube videos. One of them specifically mentioned using the steering wheel paddle shifters to achieve re generative braking putting power back to the vehicle. Got to be honest i didnt have a clue. My dealer when asked was a bit sceptical. On another thread on the UX forum i can see some have mentioned about the shifters but not putting energy back to vehicle. Be interested to know what your thoughts are. Brent

If your commute is that short the engine will spend most of its time warming up, when injection computers richen the mixture like crazy to compensate for clumping fuel droplets that don't properly vaporise in the low temperatures of a cold engine. The UX warms up pretty quick, but even so, the first couple of miles will get terrible fuel economy. All joking aside, have you considered a bicycle...? Nick Yes Nick i have a bike and have gone to work on it for many years. In 2007 i had a quadruple heart bypass and last year i was diagnosed with COPD. My condition sees me use the bike less and less. No offence taken though i would love to go on the bike more the bike is a Claud Butler by the way Hybrid. Ive considered walking but it is to a remote location unlit and you cant be sure of what you would encounter in the dark of the night. Yes the UX does warm up very quickly. Brent

Another way to download a manual of your choice (any vehicle) is to go to the Lexus uk website. Scroll down and on the left hand side of the page you will see owners. Click on there. Then scroll down and you will see the heading ABOUT MY LEXUS keep scrolling down this column and you will see owners manuals. Click on there then fill in the boxes for your vehicle then download. Ive not had my UX long done around 300 miles in total. If my memory serves me correctly i think the tank is 44 ltr. I havent filled up but kept it topped up with a premium fuel (shell V power). My commute is only a couple of miles and the onboard computer reading is 18mpg approx. If i go on a run say 20miles motorway and A roads it reads around 45-47. What i find interesting on this subject/thread is Colin Barbers post about driving in normal mode. This is exactly what my dealer said to me, just leave it normal. I'm enjoying the car by the way. Welcome Brent to L.O.C. Did you give any consideration to other Hybrid vehicles or perhaps Phevs ? It will be helpful if you can tell us why you really left Audi. Don`t they claim to be as frugal as Lexus on some of their models? Are they expensive to maintain, were they reliable, how good were their dealers, how good was their Customer Service etc ? Which Lexus Dealer did you use to buy the UX? I read one of your contributions to another thread earlier this morning and was really impressed at your ability to find and refer to and use the Handbook. You can teach some of us a lot ! Was this a necessary task with the Audi or were you always a sensible, structured and thoughtful person ? Yes i did consider other Hybrids not really lit a spark for me. I did a test drive on a Honda HRV auto with a cvt box with the intention that they would be introducing the Hybrid in this model to the UK. However ive got to say wasn't impressed with the CVT very loud. Regarding the plug in hybrid electric vehicle i didn't consider one i thought the majority were expensive and to be honest you didn't seem to get a lot of electric miles putting that against the cost of charging etc. On leaving Audi i thought the customer service was appalling and ive had VW and thought the same. The auto box was a DSG but they call it something else to be fair it performed ok, but im sure your aware its fatally floored usually after around 30k miles. The engine was one of the best VAG have ever made along with the 1.9TDI. However they dont make it now superseded with a 1.5 tfsi and they have had huge problems with that engine coupled to the DSG box. Got to say the 1.4TFSI was very frugal excellent i had it in a golf i had thats why i went for it in the Audi a very good engine. Strange they don't make it now. I used Hull Lexus and they were 1st class 5 star service as they say experience amazing. I had a Carina years ago and did star trek mileage excellent vehicle my mate had a Avensis swore by it. So ive gone for Lexus in hope of longevity reliabilty and good service. I must be turning Japanese. By the way i copied and pasted only way i could think off. Stay safe Brent

AL100 I was concerned about the 12v battery going flat the salesman at the dealer said as long as the car is driven it shouldnt be a problem. The battery can be charged but be careful and the same if you want a jumpstart. There are two parts in the manual that discuss the 12v battery i think the one that would help you starts on page 543 hope this helps. Brent

Hi Folks Conquest that is the term used i believe by the car manufacturer, when a new new customer purchases one of their vehicles from another manufacturer. Anyhow first post to introduce myself. Ive been lurking around for about a year now and got to say you seem a friendly lot. I took delivery of the UX in September having traded in a Audi A3 sportback 1.4TFSI auto. I wanted a hybrid and Toyota do make the best hybrid engines. I saw a UX in a car park immediately liked the look of it and the size. Took two test drives and eventually got one. I looked at all your contributions on the LOC to help make my decision and make me a conquest so thanks to all of you. Hoping i can contribute in the years to come. One word of warning you will find im a late poster mostly after 10pm. It will take me a bit of time to get up to speed learning how to use the forum so go easy on me for a bit. Brent.
