  1. Cordless phones, baby monitors or anything wireless have been touted as possible causes so it might be worth checking that option as well with your neighbours ;) Andy So, stop phoning people, sell your kids, and stop surfing the web. Problem solved! :P
  2. A proper SWB defender couldn't even pull my GS up our road a couple of years ago! He gave up and drove off with his tail between his legs!!
  3. I think Lexus decided that rather than fit a blanking plate, it would add a button that's not connected to anything and decided to call it "Snow". That was my memory of the effectiveness of that button in my IS200... and I can confirm that Lexus also fitted both of my GS300's with this blank button too. I am of course being flippant... Interestingly, last year my GS300 ran better with Falkan tyres than it did the year before on the OEM ones.
  4. This happened to me on my first GS... local dealer told me it can be caused by Sky TV. Don't know whether that's true or not - it only happened a handful of times.
  5. Got it and lovin' it. Feels totally different to the GS. Much tighter chassis, and nice heavier steering means it feels more sporty than the GS. Bit noisier too, but then not much this side of an LS is as refined and quiet as the GS. Will post up some pics when I get time and it's not fecking dark outside!
  6. I still say my IS200 was the best all-round car I've ever owned... Enjoy it.
  7. ...until I get my new IS250 F-Sport Nav. Christmas coming a bit early for me! B)
  8. The Mrs has DAB in her Mini and quality is fine. I will probably just end up using my iPhone which is on true unlimited data and stream internet radio ("The Radio" is a great free app for UK streams).
  9. The manufacturers are missing the point though... it's not necessarily about quality (although that is important) but about choice of genre and station.
  10. Is it possible to have DAB retro fitted? I'm sure I read somewhere that it is possible, but my dealer seemed to think not.
  11. Thanks. Collection is two weeks today. I have an iPhone, but will need to pair my work blackberry for hands free calling. Will probably buy a cheapo eBay iPod to leave in the car.
  12. Thanks for that. I've got the full-works ML kit in my GS and the sound quality is awesome. Hoping the standard 13 speaker system doesn't disappoint then. Strange that the system appears to have Gracenote albeit it's disabled... as you say, there must be a way to enable it. Time to google... ;)
  13. Hi from and oldie! I'm replacing my 2007 GS300 SEL with an IS250 F-Sport next month (going from cash allowance into company scheme and after driving the usual suspects, the IS was the easy winner despite the higher BIK tax). I'm struggling to find out the exact position with regard to the audio system. I'm upgrading the the full map navigation and the dealer I'm speaking with refers to it as the "Multimedia pack" which would sugget it comes with the Gracenote jukebox system and is the Levinson kit. However, the brochure I have say's otherwise that it is a "Premium Lexus Audio" system and no mention of gracenote. Anyone with a 2011 MY (LED DLR model) F-Sport out there that can confirm what I'm likely to get? Cheers, DJ.
  14. Hi, I noticed tonight I have a blown front side light. I've tried a search (honestly) to see if there is a tech note on how to change it.. but without success. Does anyone know if this is a DIY or dealer job? Also wondering if this is a good time to modernise the lights from the yellowy colour they currently have (and totally at odds with the white Xenon light) to a whiter option... Anyone done, or got thoughts, on doing this? I don't really want them to look cheap, and need them to be road legal. I see the current Merc E Class has white side lights and they work well with the xenon lights.
  15. I bought my current GS from Edinburgh - couldn't fault the sales process, but they were double the price of Glasgow for a minor service!!
  16. Got that letter too - www.lexus.co.uk/glasgow suggests a new centre in Kennedy Street, Townhead. edit: Just noticed it is Eastern Western (As in Edinburgh Lexus) who are running it.... we can look forward to sky-high servicing costs then!!
  17. Thanks Tony, One thing that puts me off the Hybrid, well two actually... first is that as you say boot is smaller (photos aside, I haven't actually seen one to really see how big it is) and two, I'm concerned about costs to replace the hybrid stuff if/when it starts to fail. DJ
  18. Hi All, Although I'm a very (VERY!) infrequent poster here, I have actually been a member since 2002 having owned an IS200 which I sold to buy a 350Z, wife got pregnant with first child, sold that, then had 3rd Gen GS300 SE-L which I had for two years until in a moment of madness I traded it in for a MINI Cooper S while the Mrs got herself a diesel Honda CR-V. Anyway, I'm thinking about buying another GS300 SE-L and got a couple of queries as it would be a used one (albeit from a Lexus dealer)... 1) At what mileage does major surgery start to be required? e.g. cambelts, etc, etc 2) Does anyone know what the 4th year warranty would cost? Seen a couple that interest me, one done 15K (2 years old) the other 42K miles (2.5 years old). Cheers! DJ
  19. When Edinburgh told me the cost I asked them to confirm that was for a 30K interim service - she confirmed it was. Likewise, Glasgow told me it was only an interim service. Surely there should be a set price regardless of dealer.
  20. Would about going from Lexus to Alfa?? The new 159 is a stunning car and the only other compact executive to have any style (IS included). I quite fancy a 159 Sportwagen 3.2 Q4 - if Lexus ever decide to offer us the 3.5 IS350 then I might get that next, but if they don't I think I'll be leaving the brand for a second time.
  21. Absolutely, I'd say the dealer has been very accomodating and option 2 would have been enough for me. An SEL for an SE in a different colour.......
  22. My 05 GS300 is due for its 30K service (which is an interim service). I called Lexus Edinburgh to be told this service would cost £430!!! A call to Lexus Glasgow and it is £149. How is it possible for two dealers to offer completely different pricing structures for the same service? Needless to say I've booked it into Glasgow. Which is a shame because I wanted to give Edinburgh a chance. Additionally, Edinburgh couldn't even offer me a courtesy car. Have any of you guys experienced these huge price differences?
