  1. Hi Julie, Page 616 of the manual has an alternative diagram (to the one Chance provided) showing the 12-volt battery position. Hopefully, your installation should be relatively straight forward.
  2. I agree, could be useful. A recent Channel 5 programme on 'Should I buy an electric car?' featured a Kia that was powering an electric fondue plate where the demonstrator was cooking meat and rice. Not sure if that was 230V but it certainly looked useful to be able to power certain items from the car.
  3. From page 314 of the manual, it looks like there isn't. Just one below the instrument panel and one on the rear console for the rear passengers.
  4. My desktop research suggests Tesla chargers are only for Tesla owners. There is a trial going on where other vehicles can use them but the trial applies to rapid DC chargers, and these are not compatible with the NX. I believe you also need a Tesla account. Some companies, like BP Pulse and Shell, charge a lot for their chargers, 50p/kW in some cases. Having a subscription account can reduce those costs but at 50p/kW, the electricity is as expensive as petrol on a per mile basis. Of course, charging at home is a lot less, even taking recent price rises into account. Many other public chargers are around 28-30p/kW. The advantage of the BP and Shell EV stations seems to be that their chargers work, whereas many others do not. In Scotland, many chargers have been supported under the Charge Place Scotland network and, until recently, many of these provided free electricity. However, Councils have found reliability of the chargers is not as high as expected and have, therefore, introduced (or are about to introduce) charges so that they have the income necessary to keep the chargers operating. Charging policies vary and are changing as local authorities learn about this brave new world. Some of these policies really don't suit the NX. For example, they have a 45 minutes time limit before a penalty is applied; enough juice for about 10-12 miles of electric only motoring. Others have a fixed fee per session, £3.80 around my way. Good value if charging a full EV from empty but very poor value for topping up a small battery (as are fitted to PHEV)
  5. My dealer phoned me today to say that they now have access to the new system. However, it has not been fully populated yet so he was unable to see when a build slot might be allocated; hence he couldn't give me a delivery update. The old system is still in use as it has additional functionality not available on the new system. However, he reiterated that ETAs provided by the old system could not be relied upon even though some dealers appear to still be using it This seems to be borne out with the different delivery profiles posted on this forum. Hopefully better ETAs for us all are not too far away.
  6. If you can't wait (for the real thing or this diecast model), why not head over to https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-nx-paper-model/ It can be downloaded in the Sky livery or in Azure blue. I chose the latter and then changed it from blue to the colour of my car before making it up. Next step was to superimpose it onto my driveway using a photo package. Voila, one Lexus NX sitting outside my front door! Oh the things I am driven too whilst waiting for my car to be delivered. Don't Lexus know the anguish they are putting me through? 😉
  7. Navbridge is an app that sends a destination from your smartphone to your car's navigation unit. It doesn't score well in the reviews (2.9) but I guess at least some of the negative ones are because the user tried it with a car that has an incompatible nav unit. Not all cars will accept the input from Navbridge. Never used it personally - yet. Still waiting for my car to be delivered!
  8. Thank you for sharing. I wonder if your car was placed in the queue based on the date you paid the deposit, the date you placed the order, or the date you signed the order form?
  9. I recently asked my dealer for an update on my 450h+ as, unlike some, the dealer hadn't proffered any update since ordering in February. I was told that the current system for providing estimates was inaccurate. Lexus are apparently getting a new system in the next few weeks so, if it lives up to expectations, we should all get better estimates soon. Whether, we like what we hear is another matter ...
  10. I have some sympathy with Zack. If the 350 manual is anything like the 450 Owner's Manual, there are 1,300 pages between the main manual and the multimedia manual to read. They do have an Index and I do think manufacturers provide manuals for a reason but I haven't found them an easy read.
  11. A heated front screen was on my highly desirable list too. I was a little concerned that I would see the wires or it would affect GPS but after 4 winters with the Ford screen, I can say my fears were unfounded. My Lexus dealer pointed out that the My Room feature (pages 78 and 101 of the 450h+ Owner's Manual) allows the air conditioning, seats and steering wheel to operate whilst the vehicle is connected to external power so I figured that this would go a long way to having the car ready to drive away early on a winter's morning. Sadly, I haven't taken delivery of my car yet so this is just a theory! Page 261 talks of a windshield wiper de-icer activated by selecting the [Deicer] switch on the option screen. My dealer wasn't aware of this feature but hopefully it will be present and be useful. My understanding is that heated front screen technology and HUD technology were incompatible when they first started to appear. More recent technological solutions have meant that the two can operate side-by-side these days, if they have been designed to from the outset. My suspicion is that the solutions are not advanced enough yet for Lexus to offer them both with the reliability and perfection we appreciate in the brand.
