  1. Or perhaps it's because Peter cancelled his order ... 😉
  2. To see how it works, take a look at . Of course the car has to be designed in a particular way (with perhaps a few variations - just as we have unleaded, premium and diesel now) but perhaps the convenience for most people will win the day?
  3. I've been working on 10 days to build; excluding weekends and notified factory closures, I reckon, you'll get some good news on Monday! And I've got to be patient for another week. However, my crystal ball is a bit cloudy these days so I could well be wrong!
  4. Very surprising indeed given that Lexus was the winner of the 'best manufacturer' category in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Perhaps the clue is in the wording at the head of the survey results, "... changes in the way we’ve gathered and analysed data". My guess, and it's only a guess, is that there were an insufficient number of surveys completed by Lexus owners to be included in the results.
  5. There is an app from needtocharge.com that I have downloaded to my phone. The app and developer seem genuinely to want to solve a problem that I think will get worse before it gets better. I don't know how widespread the app is in use and, as I haven't taken delivery of my car yet, there has been no chance to test it. However, I don't want to be one of the 'selfish' people and will be using the app myself. I don't have any problem coming out of a restaurant (or Tesco) to move my car if it has finished charging and somebody else wants to use the charger.
  6. I posted a comment in a different thread, a modified version of which I repeat below ... I went for the British Gas installed Alfen charger as that was being offered by Lexus when I ordered my car; however, I cannot comment on how good it is as I have no car to test it on - yet! Before I went down this route, I had enquired about a Rolec charger because, at the time (January), they were guaranteeing installation before the government grant deadline expired at the end of March. They put me onto a local, independent company in Aberdeen that provided me with 2 quotes, neither of which was for a Rolec charger! When I enquired why, they said they had experienced reliability issues with Rolec. This appeared to be confirmed by a local restaurant that still hadn't got working chargers 3 months after the main boxes had been installed. This was my experience in February and of course things do change. I have no axes to grind, just reporting what I was told at the time.
  7. Don't all sat navs give a more accurate ETA the closer you get to the destination? After all, they know where you are from the GPS so they can constantly work out the time to cover the remaining distance and hence the ETA. The trick is to give an accurate ETA at the outset. Google maps and Waze are pretty good at this. What I don't understand is why the Lexus appears to be so far out from the outset and would send you on the M4/5 instead of the A303. As far as I know, all sat navs let you specify preferences for fastest route, shortest route, avoiding certain types of roads (eg toll roads, motorways). With these choices set to your preferred driving and with the over-the-air info the Lexus can receive, it should mean the Lexus gets the best info on things like roadworks, heavy traffic, accidents, etc. It should, therefore, be as good as Google or Waze and I'm surprised that owners experience is not reflecting this.
  8. According to the Toyota website (https://global.toyota/en/newsroom/corporate/37388014.html) the factory was closed last week. Perhaps this might explain why your car isn't on a ship yet?
  9. I don't share your view Colin on rapid chargers. Maybe the theory is sound but some places (eg Highlands) have a 45 minute time limit on their chargers before imposing a penalty cost. I reckon that is only enough for 10-15 miles and not enough time to have a meal, go to the gym, see a show etc. Rapid charging would help to provide a full battery. Supposedly the reason is to keep the chargers free for full battery electric vehicles because we have an engine. Seems some authorities don't get that we want to be green, ie operate as much as possible on electric. Of course the solution is simple, install more chargers so everyone can use them but they seem to have overlooked this too.
  10. Whatever Lexus was doing over the weekend hasn't worked. Today (18:54) I get the message, "Warning. We are having some issues, you might encounter some problems while using the app."
  11. Usually you will need to use the cable that came with your vehicle but, as you have found, there are the odd chargers about that have a tethered cable that you can plug straight in. You have probably worked this out but there are 3 terms used for chargers, Rapid, Fast and Slow. Most Rapid chargers are DC and the 450h cannot accept DC so we are limited to Fast (usually from a EV charge point, either installed at home or when you are out and about) or Slow (basically when charging over a domestic circuit). I don't know when you would ever use a Type 1 connector; Type 2 is the European standard. Zap Map explains the myriad of options available. https://www.zap-map.com/charge-points/connectors-speeds/
  12. Good that you have an update and something to look forward to. Not heard from my dealer even though link says my car went into build on the 6th June.
  13. Good news! Perhaps Lexus do secretly read these forums!
  14. Kris, that is indeed what the website shows now but this wasn't the case back in February when Michael (and myself) ordered our vehicles. I hope and believe that Lexus would honour their commitment at the time the order was placed to hold the price. New customers can see the new deal on the website (as you show above) and I would hope dealers will explain the new situation to new customers. I don't work for Lexus so my comments are my thoughts on the situation. I can understand why Lexus has had to change things.
  15. Just looked it up. 10 days after order placed with dealer, I received an email from lexus.co.uk with the subject line "Thank you for choosing Lexus Malcolm" and started with "Welcome to the world of Lexus" and went on with "... In the meantime, if you sign in to the Lexus Link app you’ll be able to see your owner’s manual and warranty, get real-time updates on the delivery of your new Lexus, and in future you can check your Service History here too." Followed by a "SIGN IN" box. I'm pretty sure I followed the "Sign In" box link to create my account.
  16. Some people have suggested signing into your account from the Lexus.co.uk website can produce more reliable tracking results. Personally, I found both mirror each other and neither give a great deal of detail. IIRC, my dealer sent me an email with an invitation link shortly after I ordered my NX so I'm not sure if he needed to set something up from his end first or whether I could/did set up the account myself from the website.
  17. The charging lead is shown on page 63 of the manual and you can see that the plug and plug lead shown is for the UK (Items D and E). This attaches to the CCID (Item F) but can be changed for the plug/plug lead used in different countries; how to change it is described in the manual (page 68) The French version of this short lead and plug from Lexus is your best and safest bet and shouldn't cost too much. As Peter notes the manual says not to use an adaptor or extension lead and for good reason, it could be dangerous! The ones you buy in diy stores and travel outlets cannot take the current for the length of time you'll be plugged in. Specialist firms, like Tough Leads, do make suitable cables that I would be happy to use. Including a modular system (ModulEV Modular granny charger extension and travel adaptor system) that allows easy connection of proper plugs for various countries; great if you ever intend to tour Europe.
  18. How about: https://store.inchcape.co.uk/products/genuine-lexus-black-stainless-steel-contour-thermal-tumbler-travel-mug-350ml Cannot guarantee it will fit the NX but sales blurb indicates the front cup holders will accept a variety of cans, cups, etc.
  19. I found this on the US Club Lexus site. Not definitive but sounds plausible. I suspect the new Mark Levinson setup for the NX will not fit in the 450h+, which is why it is not in the option list. There was a post here earlier that showed the picture of the speaker locations for the ML system, and the subwoofer housing takes up a lot of room underneath the cargo area. It's the same area required for the extra batteries for the plugin, so we may never see the ML being an option for the 450h+. Link, if you want to see the full thread is: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/nx-2nd-gen-2022-current/975415-mark-levinson-on-450h-f-sport.html
  20. Great news Phillip. If it arrives at the dealer in August, will you wait for the new September plate? Love your line about waiting 40 years for your first new car. Who built that?
  21. Okay you cruel lot, thanks for all your replies and scarring the bejesus out of me! 😉 You've convinced me and I've just ordered myself a dash cam.
  22. Not the RZ. When I ordered in February, Lexus were offering NX450h+ customers the free installation of an Alfen home EV charge point through British Gas. This offer was worth roughly £1,000. And, yes, at that time there was small price reduction, plus the ceramic paint coating (not sure of the true value of that). Incidentally, I noticed that Lexus are no longer guaranteeing the price of some models. The website (for the UX) says orders today will likely be built to the 2023 model spec and the price won't be fixed until the car goes into build. Customers will have the choice at that point to cancel the order or pay the price relevant to the spec being built.
  23. I guess the question of, "is it worth attending?" depends on what's on offer and its value to you. I attended a sales event that persuaded me to buy a Lexus rather than the Toyota I had just ordered. The incentives were the Lexus EV home charger offer (not special to the sales event but a key factor nonetheless), a discount on the price and a ceramic paint coating. The dealership was also a superior experience to that of other manufacturers that I have experienced. Since the dealership is more than 150 miles away, I would not have bought the Lexus if I had not been invited to, and attended, the sales event.
  24. Thank you for all your thoughts and comments. I'm probably too trusting and a bit naive to be living in today's world. On the other hand, I live in the North of Scotland where, fortunately, we seem to have fewer scammers and boy racers. Dreading a trip now to Wales later in the year when I have to pass through the bad-lands of englandshire! LoL.
  25. Looks really smart. Bet you're pleased with that 🙂
