  1. 6230 should be fine. I have used various Nokia phones now ;-) I found the instructions to not be quite right. First get your phone paired. Assuming that's done and I remember it correctly when you go to the phone screen to start the receiving of the numbers what they fail to tell you is that the when you do this the bluetooth connection between the phone and the Lexus is dropped. The reason for this is because you can't have more than one BT connection active from the same device. So it has to drop the connection to enable you to send the data. You'll then need to go to your phonebook and send via BT the number for the person you want to transfer. It will only transfer one number for each person in your phone book and you;ll need to do this process again and again for each contact. Hope that helps. br D
  2. Yes it is, works very well too. I have it on just the SE spec Sat Nav. br D
  3. :eerrrmm: mats protecting mats protecting carpet. Personally work on the basis that once the mats are worn out or so dirty that they can no longer be cleaned I'll just replace them. Hopefully a few years use at least before that happens. At least the carpets are protected. D
  4. The shape of the vehicle can influence air turbulence at the rear. In some vehicles the flow of air helps to stream or effectively 'blow' the water away from the vehicle. In the case of the RX it may be that this turbulence created at the rear of the vehicle rather than channeling the dirty water away from the rear of the vehicle is just drying it and it then builds up causing it to look even dirtier. If you look at some parts of the vehicle, for example around the rear edge of the rear doors they almost end up black with dirt. Again this is a localised area of turbulence created when the car is moving which end up concentrating the collection of water and thetrefore dirt from the road in these areas. br D
  5. Sorry Colin should have asked in earlier post, what would you recommend as the mileage interval to change the fluid? The 40,000km in the original post or something different? thanks D
  6. There was a thread on this same subject very recently. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=19158 br D
  7. Oh wow, not had any additional detail yet on that screen. Where are you getting the signals from? In set-up it shows under manual or auto station select. Maybe further north the signals are from a different station which provides greater amounts of detailed info. Here in London area seems to be Classic. br D
  8. mmm, on mine click on the icon where the incident is. This then highlights the incident icon and at the top of the screen shows a summary e.g. slow traffic. Clicking on info by this displays the detail screen, even if moving (from memory). In this screen it duplicates the problem from the previous screen e.g. in this case slow traffic. The only additional information being at the bottom of the screen which indicates where and to the problem exists, although this can normally be seen by zooming in and seeing the direction of the traffic problem and the area indicated by the yellow line with half an arrow head. The feed I seem to be getting is from Classic FM, which most of the time seems to be reasonably accurate. Although on the way home on Friday night the icons didn't appear until I'd been in the car for at least 30 minutes. Any help? br D
  9. For someone to be able to do this the sat nav system would first have to be in add new phone mode and then know the 4 digit code. Only then would they be able to using the bluetooth communication get a virus into the system. Symbian S60 phones are now coming under attack through viruses. The simple advice here is not to accept anything via bluetooth from anyone you don't know. br D
  10. mmmm now you have me wondering if I'm going mad! Will check again with the wife, as I'm colour blind and wondering whether it's two brightnesses rather than what I thought was green and orange. I know regardless of whether the headlights are on or not that I've seen this and I'm sure (but out of the country so can't double check the manual) that it mentions the two colours but not what they indicate. Maybe back later for the name of a good doctor :duh: br d
  11. I'm not Mike of course but I think mine's still bedding down. Done almost 2000 miles now and I did notice a decrese in fuel consumption after around 1000-1500 miles. I live in London so half of my motoring is in traffic rather than open road. We did do a longer journey a few weeks back and got around 23mpg with cruising around 85-90 and some acceleration so could have been lighter foot. I would say my average is around 23 right now but heard a colleague at work who lives in Bracknell area getting with light foot around 24-25, so I'm ever hopeful of further improvements. br D
  12. Unfortunately the manual that accompnies the SatNav/Phone/Climate control system has various holes in explaning various items. One of them being the Climate Control System. I'm particulary intrigued why the LED (incorporated in the Auto button, not the touch screen button) which indicates the Auto mode is active changes colour. Anyone know what the two different colours are supoosed to indicate? thanks D Seems this is a fault. Got in the RX yesterday started up and immediately got a message asking if I would agree to being re-routed due to traffic problems to which I agreed. Thought I was being taken on one hell of a long way round to get to my destination but thought I'd go with the recommendation as it's quite interesting to learn of new ways to get to places. So, one hour later I end up on my dealers forecourt. As I arrive the headlights start wandering all the place as if they're looking for someone. Then the alarm starts. This then attracts the attention of the centre manager who comes over to the car. As he approaches the rear hatch starts opening, at which point there's a beep and a message appears on the display. As I look down to try and read the message the seat reclines back. As I'm being ejected through the rear hatch I catch a glance of the message, "I'm rejecting the owner on grounds of stupidity, please find me a new one. [signed] RX" Actually nothing wrong with the car at all. Seems I should have tied up the dimming of the display controls with the intensity of the light. Due to being colour blind I read this as green and orange, coupled with a slightly misleading comment in the owners manual (in my defence). So even though the headlights are on I forgot that the intensity of the dash illumination including this LED is not linked as with other cars I've owned in the past. e.g turn on the lights and all of the dash lights either come on or those already on dim. So apologies for wasting your time with my original dumb question. Got to go, have to go make up with the RX by thorough warm washing with new soft mit. br D
  13. The phone book is not synched in any way with your phone. You simply use your phone as a means to get the names and numbers into the Lexus system. You could change phones or whatever and the Lexus system won't give a monkeys as long as you were tell it that you've added a new phone. br D
  14. Hi Mike, the flashing LED's remain unaffected by this setting change. br D
  15. I totally understand and respect it's reasons for being there. However, personally I've never had the need to remind myself to wear a seatbelt and I wouldn't dream of driving anywhere without our children properley restrained. It's the first thing we do before setting off. br D
  16. Thanks! Where we live sometimes I have to move the car slightly so we can get our two young girls into the back of the car. Even if you get out of the car with the engine running the noise kept going and drove me mad, especially when our 4 year old would always say "daddy why is the Lexus making that awful noise" br D
  17. Hi John, I too am having problems, nothing serious and I know it will be sorted out but not happy at the service. One of the Reasons for buying the Lexus, this is our first new car we've ever bought with our own money (as opposed to company cards). We've heard so many stories of Lexus bending over backwards. Just to get a call back 4 weeks after requestting an inspection of our car and various other small issues to be sresolved and still no answer. Called again yesterday and promised a return of call that afternoon. Over 24 hours later and still no call! I agree, spending this amount of money it's reasonable to expect that it should be right, or at least put it right efficiently and with no inconvenience to the customer. And frankly it's a sahame because I love the car and I was actually looking forward to the receiving the Lexus experience. Lexus Guildford are the offenders if anyone's interested. Let me know how you get on. best of luck. D
  18. Hi Mike wondered how you were getting on? Mine has done exactly what you described since new (just one month ago). Realy starting to annoy me as passengers thinks it's my driving! Would be interested in hearing from you. br D
  19. Only one month old but so far I'd like to see the following chnages/improvements: Rain sensing rear wiper No 'jerking' of the transmission at low speeds when accelerator pressed again after slowing of vehicle - thread on subject on this site of course Voice dialing of bluetooth phone camera in front as well as rear a la Toyota Corolla Verso No dimming of rear view mirrors in 'normal' night conditions Ability to watch DVD's in Sat Nav system when car stationary - Merc's allow this on their system good for when in a car park waiting for the other half to finish shopping Password protection of phone book Auto folding of mirrors when vehicle locked Deactivation of rear electric windows only rather than rear and front passenger windows Less aggressive cruise control - i.e. don't kick down to increase speed by only 2-3mph when resumed Well that's all for now. I also remember a similar thread back in September which had some very good suggestions too. br D
  20. Platinum Ice with Oakham interior, looks great. ← Same here :P
  21. I wonder if there's a cultural thing with Italians and Japanese cars, bearing in mind that Italy has a fairly significant car industry of their own, albeit in serious trouble? br D
  22. If you order the SE with Sat Nav you get the bluetooth integration too. There is no need for you to order anything else. The mic is built-in to the overhead console (also used for the voice recognition) and the speaker support is through the drivers side hi-fi speakers. Having now finally got my phone book transfered to the system and set up the one touch dial numbers from the phone book I'm, finding this works very well. The places of interest and integration of this with the phone is also very useful. So glad I waited for the 2005 spec which has the phone integration and the traffic avoidance. For my regular journeys I don't bother setting my destination anymore, just look at the screen occasionaly and it shows you where the traffic problems are and the actual problem (e.g. lane closed) and what the direction is. As for the parking camera and the guides to help you park the thing, that's the best party trick of them all! Makes people really squirm too when you're able to park it so accurately! The Sat Nav system is pretty expensive but for the whole package it (for me at least) really makes a difference. br D
