  1. Have searched on here and found a few threads discussing this question but from what I can find only tow bar based ones have been fitted with the mkII RX300 due to the spoiler. Has anyone been successful in attaching a rear mounted rack which doesn't require a tow bar? Someone in a previous thread mentioned a long discussion on the topic but I couldn't find it. If there is one and you can post a link, that would be great! Thanks for your help. Damian
  2. Spark plugs are hugely expensive and labour associated with their fitting. 60k service for me which only additional itme over and above normal every 20k was spark plugs and cost was almost £500!
  3. I imagine it's to do with the fact that for the last year or so they have hadlr been selling any petrol only versions, most have been hybrid is what I was previously told.
  4. I don't get it. Petrol version not selling. Therefore this should [have?] be/been built around the hybrid system from the ground up. So if so why put that ugly slot under the main grill again similarly to what we have with today's RX400h? Surely working from the ground up the designers could do a better job of integrating the cooling inlets than this!
  5. Ensure you are using the latest FW (firmware) for your phone. There's an application on Nokia.com which allows you to do this yourself. Some Nokia mobiles have acquired more up to date and therefore better support for this. More recent mobiles shoudl allow you to select all your contacts and then send them over BT to the car when it's in the receiving mode. Older ones may need you to do this one by one. br D
  6. Thing is I believe is to ensure you are not pressing the odo button when turning to on. Leave it a second or so then press the button. After 10-20 seconds or put the seat belt in. If still doesn't work put the headlights to off rather than auto as this control is also used for a service based menu so may have some impact. Don't know if other who were succesful had the lights on auto or off. br D
  7. Hi not convinced the mule is the next RX. I had heard there will be a baby RX and a direct replacement for the current RX. The mule images from a scale and proportion perspective look more like a baby RX in testing. The LF-A is good but wonder how close the interior will be to the next RX, suspect nothing like it, like most concept cars. The outside will hopefully at least borrow some strong styling cues. br D
  8. Thanks, sorry if I had confused rather than clarified what I'm trying to check. After the car is fully warmed up and you press the demist button what are you RX300 owners finding happens? Does the air con come on and the fan speed increase as well as direct to the fronts vents for demisting or does the fan speed stay more or less the same e.g. low . It's this last point I really wanted to clarify. thanks D
  9. Can you help me out here please? Gremlins seem to be doing strange things. Now aircon seems to be behaving differently and now I can't remember what's right and what's wrong. Aircon 'seems' to be working but in this weather hard to prove how effectively. Could owners of the RX300 mk II please check what happens when the car is fully warmed up and you press the demist button on the left of the sat nav display? On mine when the car is cold I get air con indicator appear even if air con was off and maximum or almost maximum air directed to the demisting vents. The indicators for the direction of the air in the aircon touch display are all off as opposed to usually one being lit. Once the car is fully warmed up and you press the demist button I thought it still gave rapid demist using b0oth aircon on and high speed fan. Now I get aircon on but no fan speed increase. This latter point in particualr I would like to check if your climate control is working the same because I am finding the demoist doesn't seem to be as effective as I remember it before the garage had it for some work recently. Thanks D
  10. Thanks for the reply, it was 8 degrees C. To add some additional info the de-mist function was not working either, which is how I noticed it. So rather than having a blast of air to clear the windows nothing happens. However, for some strange reason when the car is cold the power de-mist does work but once it's warm despite everything being misted up and the outside temperature being warm enough the air con doesn't seem to engage. br D
  11. Hi, I have an unused one from a 2004 RX300. Let me know if it's of interest. br Damian
  12. Hi, I own a 2004 RX300. The air con has stopped working. I've checked the fuses. Anyone experience a similar problem at any time? No error code/messages to indicate any prooblems. Noticed when trying to demist the windows. Pressing the demist button doesn't do anything. Air con compressor doesn't come on when air con selected. Thanks D
  13. Myself I run an RX300 which has the capability of showing miles remaining based on average fuel consumption and what's left in the tank. Talking to a friend with an Rx400H today he said how frustrating it was not to have the same on the 400H. I can;t believe this would now have been copied across. Can someone confirm if this is the case on the 400H or not. If it is available perhaps you could explain where it is so I can pass it on? I would have presume it is in one of the INFO screens? thanks in advance D
  14. I had exactly the same scenario after some body work attention a few years back. br D
  15. Hi, someone bashed my drivers side door mirror recently. All OK except the outer body coloured casing is cracked. Seems this is only available as part of the entire mirro assembly. The colour is platinum ice. Anyone know of someone who has one to sell or where you can get one for much less than the £300 ish I heard from Lexus that it is thought to be? Don't want to pay over £100 as it's only cracked and everything sill works fine, but would be nice for it to look like new again. thanks and br D
  16. I agree, the paint does seem to mark very easily. Have asked mine to be investigated aspects chips very easily. br D
  17. Checked with Dension distributors in the UK this morning and seems only the FM adaptor will work, not recommended if you have TMC compatible sat nav. They explained that due to constant SW issues that all those previously sold for Lexus were recalled and with no clear idea of the situation changing in the future. Back to the Vaistech solution then. br D
  18. I presume you had all four balanced? Had something similar for many 000's of miles. Had complained to dealer before and they stated all balanced up and OK, but problem still existed. Took it into local tyre shop the other day and got them to check all four. All were out one was way out, no kerbing or anything on that wheel as far as I am aware. Now seems OK currently but only done a few 000 miles. For what it's worth stood there and watched them double check each wheel even after they had balanced them and they were all absolutley spot on when I left, so can't complain that they only got them close. br D
  19. I noticed Dension is now listing compatibility with the RX via the icelink plus for iPod's. Wondered if anyone had one of these installed and what their experience was like? many thanks D
  20. I had what sounds like a very similar issue. Basically the headlights were not adjusting the angle both up and down and left/right. The cause was found eventually to be the ride height sensor. No problems since this was replaced. br D
  21. Is your 400h a UK spec? Also is it a SEL or just SE? thanks D Thanks for your work on this guys. I have just installed the device in my 400h and it works brilliantly. I elected to leave it in the Glove box rather than behind the stereo or close to the footwell, as described by Leaxuslover on the US forum. Only slight issue ( need to check the iPod settings) is that the volume seems to be lower - but the sound quality is excellent. Very pleased with it !
  22. Hi, just to clarify a few things perhaps. As said in previous post car hi-fi needs to be on, but can be CD or radio and volume turned right down. If off no signals whatsoever. Also beware of FM aerial based iPod adaptors. this prevent the signals being received for the TMC system to work. Having used this for over 2 years now I would say it can be very hit and miss how long it takes to get the data. Sometimes it can be a couple of minutes after starting, other times it can be as long as 15 minutes or so.I have found in the latter that wehn stationary (otherwise greyed out screen) scanning manually can get a station fix and therefore the data faster than waiting for it. Typicall in the south Classic FM seems to be the only station supporting the data. As for reliability of data, this also varies. Obviously there can be differences caused by the age of the data and how long ago the incident occured to cause the issue. In the most impressive example I can recall was when I passed a just happened traffic accident on the M25. As I passed the incident I noticed the Police in my rear view mirro just arriving at the incident. No more than a minute later the incident then popped up on the screen! So I guess it also relies on people to feed it promptly too. In some traffic areas where they are typically black spots for bad traffic on regular basis these don't get reported as they're seen as business as usual. br D
  23. According to my dealer, the Samsung D500 will transfer the entire phone book in one go, whereas the Nokia's will only transfer one number at a time. I'll find out this week when I pick up my 400h. The newer Nokia's are also allowing this too now.
  24. Unfortunately can't try the higher octance fuels as my fuel is paid for by the company I work for and they won't pay for higher octance fuels. I can't say for certain and not sure if it's really an issue or not but have found that kick down needs a much greater shove of the pedal than before. I don't know if this is how the reduction in fuel consumption has been gained or not. I was wondering if this is one way they got round the selecting too low a gera which seemed to be causing the lurch before. Thinking being that with a much greater differential between a gentle push of the pedal which gives a smooth take off and one when you want/need to go quickly there is a much greater chance of avoiding the lurch as experienced before. As I say not really able to confirm this but just occurred to me over the weekend how much harder it seemed to get the car to go than before. It could be this need to push the pedal further than before which is creating the perception of less responsiveness? br D
