  1. Hi Michael, Thanks for pushing this all through. Sorry I couldn;t be there. If they don't sort this we'll be rejecting our car too as I find it completely unaceptable for a £35k car. This is not a problem for other auto boxes so why should it be a problem here? br D
  2. It's available on the new GS too. Didn't think it was an RX400 option though. br D
  3. edited post Wanted to know how much they are but see the price is on the site in your link. thanks D
  4. The V3 is obviously a very slim phone. One of the biggest issues with handset design is the antenna. In the V3 it is in the bulge in the bottom of the handset. It could be that the BT antenna is somewhat compromoised. I beleive there is a setting available through the various service facility options to turn up the sensitivity of the Lexus system's BT which may help with the problem you are experiencing. br D
  5. 6230 should be fine. I have used various Nokia phones now ;-) I found the instructions to not be quite right. First get your phone paired. Assuming that's done and I remember it correctly when you go to the phone screen to start the receiving of the numbers what they fail to tell you is that the when you do this the bluetooth connection between the phone and the Lexus is dropped. The reason for this is because you can't have more than one BT connection active from the same device. So it has to drop the connection to enable you to send the data. You'll then need to go to your phonebook and send via BT the number for the person you want to transfer. It will only transfer one number for each person in your phone book and you'll need to do this process again and again for each contact. Hope that helps. br D
  6. If it was the throttle rather than the gearbox ECU then it would do it as other times too. But it only does it around this speed and is a result of selecting first when it should be keeping with a higher gear selection br D
  7. Hi Michael, sorry can't be there on Wednesday, as I have a meeting elsewhere which I simply can't change now, otherwise would have been there. Look forward to hearing what they have to say on the subject. best of luck Here's to lurchers being transformed into smoothies. br D
  8. We love our RX. Extremely impressive car in almost every respect other than the lurching gearbox which drives me mad as I have around 20 speed humps each way to and from work to drive over so this problem is with me every single day. If it wasn;t for that it would be virtually perfect. br D
  9. This is my first Lexus and we have not yet received the Lexus experience on ANY occasion that I have heard others have been graced with. br D
  10. What a load of :tsktsk: ! I insisted the service manager from Lexus Guildford earlier this year log this with LGB. He assured me he had and I do believe him. The LGB HQ technical manager (can't remember his actual job description) said what you've said above about them not knowing anything about this earlier this year when you were going through the stages of rejecting your car and your dealer supposedly talking to LGB. I don't expect so much bull from a company such as Lexus. I completely agree with you Michael, I too will not give up. Only this morning when stuck in traffic a feather blew in through the sunroof and landed on the pedal, before I know it I've split my coffee and dropped my phone Not really of course, well the bit about the phone and the coffee I made up but the feather causing the car to lurch was true Look forward to hearing when they're coming over, would like to see their reaction first hand when they experience it for themselves. BTW, could they bring some Belgium beer for each of us with them too? br D
  11. Hi Realspeed I thought using manual was a work around but since discovered that it isn't. This is definetly not being eager on the pedal. I could breath on it and it would do the same. Try approaching something like a speed bump at around 8 mph, after you've gone over the bump gently press the pedal and it will change to 1st and not 2nd which causes the car to lurch due to the sudden engine breaking effect by selecting 1st. You can acheive the same effect simply by driving at the same speed and then engaging 1st. Not very comfortable. :o br D
  12. The 400h uses a CVT box not a conventional auto so wouldn't expect it to have this problem. br D
  13. Positive news. If I'm available I would be happy to make the journey as I think it's worth it to get it fixed. They'll never be a better opportunity. It would make the car almost perfect for me then, other than the rattle from the sunroof and the occassional rattle from the exhaust, but I'm hoping both of these will be fixed at the next surface. Let me know when it is. br D
  14. I think this is due to having automatic answer enabled. It seems to take a few rings before you here it through the RX's speakers. If you have auto answer with handsfree enabled in the phone it answers after one ring and therefore you don't here the ring tone through the speakers. br D
  15. I was so p***ed off with this and my dealer was asking for a detailed description that I spent quite some time trying to find a pattern relating to this. My journey to and from work involves a number of speed humps which really provoke this problem. What I found is that when you slow to around 8-9 mph coming up to the speed hump then accelerate after going over the hump the car changes down to first. It is this that causes the lurch as the car has selected too low a gear so you get enghine breaking or a jump forward before it realises its mistake at which point it changes up to 2nd and everything become smooth again. So if they just changed the change points mapped in the ECU then this wouldn't happen. I don't understand the reluctance here as clearly Lexus are able to make other cars with auto boxes that don't do this. What I have learnt now is that when going over speed humps it's best to change to 2nd manually as you approach the hump. For some bizarre reason this I have found stops it shifting down to 1st so there is no lurch forward. It also has the added benefit of the car pulling away far more responsively away from the hump as you don't need to wait for it to select a gear again. Edit. Above comment not entirely true. I realised later that the reason for reducing the lurch was purely down to being a little more aggressive with the speed bumps than I had done before. When the speed is no less than 10 mph it doesn't change down to first which seems to be the cause of the lurch. End of edit Far from ideal of course because this is meant to be an auto box but does at least reduce the number of occasions that my passengers and I have to experience the discomfort of poor implementation. br D
  16. Personally for the rear I would say the camera is better and still usable in low light as the camera is quite sensitive and the reverse lights are bright enough to add the needed boost so you can see. However I would say that having them for the front may be worth thinking about although I don't have them myself. I still can't get use to how long the car is at the front. Much easier than the rear of course but I just don't want to mark the front of the car so I always end up pulling up short. However the parking guidance lines that help you park in between two parked cars works really well and I rely on this for the front when parking. br D
  17. BTW anyone else with a GS or something else in Lexus' range that suffers from this problem. You would have thought this would happen on all Lexus autos. Why only the RX? br D
  18. Sorry to hear that you guys are still having problems. I completely agree with what you've said. I'm fed up to the back teeth with this. I travel quite a bit and quite often end up in BMW or Mercedes Taxis and I never feel any such lurching or discomfort. I personally do not understand why it does this. I think Lexus should at the very least offer some plausable explanation for this. To my mind I'd rather have a dumb but always smooth box than one that's too clever for it's own good right now and is so uncomfortable for the passengers that I have to apologise when it jerks as if I'm a learner who's just let the clutch out too quickly. I too have thought about rejecting the car but the b*****d who keyed the drivers side has put a stop to that for now. Time to talk to lexus again I think. br D
  19. Some operators prevent this on the phones that are supplied with a contract as they want you to only send messages through chargeable means. In Japan there is a culture where people sit on trains etc where they are looking to have conversations over BT with people they have never met before. br D
  20. I saw these prices recently too. However the savings they show suggest that they have not updated there prices since October 2004 when the last price increase occured. They may therefore riggle later or you may find when it comes down to the actual order that they put the price up. You never know, if they haven't updated the prices and they confirm an order in writing with no small print then you'll be on to a winner. best of luck D
  21. When we were looking to buy our RX300SE we dealt with AJ who we foundwas excellent. However, when it came to the deal another salesman muscled in and took over, why we never were able to understand why but at that point we became unhappy with the service and the deal was awful!! so we moved to another dealer. So my advice and with only the best intentions in mind, would be to make sure AJ remains your point of contact throughout the entire process. br D
  22. On my V800, there is an option called Send All Contacts which would do the whole phonebook in one go. I am sure I've seen this also on some Nokia's - might be worth investigating. I've tried in on my Sony Ericsson and works nicely. ← My understanding was that although the phone supports this the Lexus system does not. You may find after checking that it has only sent just one contact using this method. br D
