  1. Leaking screen reservoir sorted by fitting a new pump by May Lane motors for a very reasonable £125, I can recommended them, good on quality and price.
  2. I tried it for a while it improves response on the up-changes but it spoils the smoothness on the downshifts, you get a lot more engine braking. In the end I have left it on the normal setting for smoothness. Personal choice I suppose.
  3. Gents, thank you for your responses. My filter wasn't as bad as the one in the photo but I think I have noticed an improvement in cabin airflow now I have replaced mine. Thinking logically about the airflow direction it has to be top to bottom otherwise if it was bottom to top any debris would drop down into the ducting.
  4. I would think so, the back axle is the same regardless of whether your IS is a manual or auto.
  5. Car has been in for a service full service today, usual oil and filter, brake fluid, rear diff oil changes and a clean and grease of the sliding calliper pins. The leak is the screen washer pump, £86 plus labour and all should be well after its next trip to the May Lane garage.
  6. I've had Goodyear's this time round, superb tyres. Avoid Pirelli's at all costs they were horrible.
  7. After taking care to ensure the A/C was selected to recirc I successfully remove the filter cover and removed the existing filter which I'm assuming was genuine Lexus. It was fitted with the arrow facing up as directed. My replacement filter (crosland) doesn't have an up marking on it only the direction of air flow. I have fitted it with the air flow direction facing down as looking at the old filter this side was definitely the dirtiest, it needed changing. I was surprised how dirty the underside was on the old filter it must have been very restrictive. Is the direction of airflow from top to bottom? I just want to be sure. Thanks in advance for your responses.
  8. Too cold for me to mess around and I'm booked in for a service next week at my trusted garage so I will let them have a look. Probably a seal as it's a slow leak. Thanks for your thoughts, hopefully I'll let you know what the problem is was next week.
  9. I've noticed a leak on the near side front corner of my car, it looks and tastes like screen wash! I have been filling the reservoir much more frequently over the last 3 months so by process of elimination I've found the problem. Anyone had this problem before? Apart from a seized front calliper three years ago and this leak the car has been faultless. It sailed through its mot last week with 90k under its belt. I hope it's an easy fix.
  10. Problem now seems to be ressolved. My local mechanic stripped both rear brakes and found that the parking brakes were well crudded up. After a thorough clean up and rebuild all seems well for the bargain price of £60. I|t seems a full Lexus service history isn't all it seems as he recond they have never been touched before. I know the discs are the originals because I replaced the pads two years ago. So smooth and silent breaking restored.
  11. That's awful! My IS250 would be doing around 38mpg at that speed, however ambient temperature and having a headwind or tailwind all affect mpg at a steady speed.
  12. Ive been lucky so far with 3 years ownership and not having to drive in the snow, but I do remember driving up a steep frosty hill in my previous IS200 manual with the snow button in with no problems, I didn't want to try switching it off.
  13. Recently I've noticed that when braking lightly I get a rubbing/knocking sound from the rear of the car. It doesn't happen all the time and seems to happen more often when I carry passengers? It's been into my local garage and apart from the parking brakes needing a good clean out everything looked hunky dory. I be taking it out tomorrow so hopefully it will be back to its normal self. Has anyone experienced this problem?
  14. I had some Pirelli PZero Rossos on mine, they were good until they got down to about 5mm and then they were shocking for tramlining even with 5mm left on them. When I eventually had 4 new Goodyear efficient grips fitted it completely sorted it, I just hope the Goodyears don't go off like the Pirellis did. I didn't bother getting my alignment checked as the tyre wear both front and back was very even, however the Pirellis had some slightly oval uneven wear which can't have helped. I would not buy Pirelli tyres again.
  15. Thinking about it if you do select neutral while waiting you should either keep the brakes on or put the parking brake on because if some numpty runs into the back of you they will push you out into the oncoming traffic, don't fancy that.
  16. It's probably om here somewhere but I can't find it? Should I be selecting neutral on my is250 when waiting in traffic? I heard conflicting advice on it causes more wear in neutral and also It causes lless? I just want to do what's best for the car I'm not worried about an extra 0.5mpg, after all it's an IS250 not a Passat diesel.
  17. Only just had mine done by Lexus Cheltenham and it looks like they have replaced the whole unit not just the o rings? Excellent service from the dealer, they picked the car up and dropped it off after cleaning it.
  18. None of the above, I think it's a construction fault tbh but seeing that I've had 20k out of them so far I can't see a refund in the offering ;-)
  19. Directional, tbf my local guy did all 4 for less than £500 so a good deal given the 16k I've had out of them but horrible now with 4mm left.
  20. I would have preferred smaller wheels but 17 were on it a std, at least they're not 18's! As for tyre makes only Dunlop, Mich or Goodyear seem to get below the 70dba level. I'm amazed the Pirrelis havent been better they make suberb motorbike tyres.
  21. I need to get rid of my horrible P-Zero Rosso's soon, sounds like Goodyear or Michelin are they way to go, any recommendations (apart from Pirelli's)!!! I value comfort and quiet over racetrack grip.
  22. Anyone else had problems with these? Since the fronts have got down to half worn they are noisy and feel awful, they track any road imperfections and are really noisy above 50, they were fine when new. As usual my IS250 flew through its 3rd MOT yesterday but the tester remarked on the uneven axial wear on the two front Pirellis, he said that must be awful to drive on and he is right. I''m going to treat myself to some new Michelins or Goodyears in the spring despite these horrible Pirellis being half worn, they really are spoiling and excellent car.
  23. However if Clarkson hates it that might encourage me to buy one, he is a k#@b
  24. I had one for a weekend, it was awful! The 1.4 tsi Golf I had at the time was light years ahead. Avoid and buy an second hand IS250 auto instead, you won't be disappointed.
