  1. You're very lucky. Mine is at about 24k miles and if you look closely, the front bumpers (below the headlights etc) have lots of small chips from tiny stones (I guess) on the road. I tried to fix it myself and I think I made it worse, although you have to look closely to notice. At some point I will take it to the local bodywork garage (they're pretty good) for a respray.
  2. To be frank I also use google maps next to the big screen (mine has the big screen or premium nav as some call it, I just hate the word "premium" itself) But because I use both side by side I'm not sure now where i see the speed limits, it may be both! I will check
  3. Hey I use that version too and I don't get see speed zones, how do you display them?
  4. I guess one solution is to turn the voice on but not set any address on the GPS so there are no indications given, only the bongs... Thanks @wharfhouse
  5. So, can I have the speed camera warnings without the voice telling me to turn right at the next roundabout, or do I need to activate it again?
  6. Maybe this summer bank holiday will be a god time! Is there a risk of breaking any of the clips?
  7. Ah one day I will gather the courage to try and do it.... Lucky I only have 26k miles on mine for now...
  8. I bought the Lexus/Toyota AC spray and after reading the instructions to apply it (you have to apply it into the evaporator) and being told I can also do it down the vents, I decided to leave it to the Dealership: I will ask them to do it next time I take the car in for service (they may charge me an extra 15min to do it but surely they'll do it the right way?)
  9. And of course all of this complexity is a mere coincidence, no intention behind it by the insurers, of course
  10. Yeah only occassionally the car goes (by on-board comp) over 50mpg, which if you think about it, is an achievement given this is a heavy car with a drivetrain that was released in 2013. If I try to be mindful of fuel, I am around 49-52 but rarely beyond. If I drive with a bit more energy, it is around 44-47. Again, pretty good for a 2.5 that's quite fat because of having two engines plus battery. I have low-fuel tyres and use Shell E5 for the most part. Does anyone know which generation of the drivetrain this is? Second? I heard that the ES has the next one and the newest Corolla is on the 5th or something like that.
  11. Oh no....so i guess mine has the Pioneer one then? And that's not something the warranty covers of course.
  12. Mine has the 8 speaker option and sounds amazing. I would not go for the ML audio because it is prone to issues with the very pricey amplifier as seen on this forum several times.
  13. Same here. Deactivation is much better. Peace of mind is well worth it. After that you just touch the start button with the key and press the button to start.
  14. Still manages to get a decent 450 litres which is more than some non-hybrid rivals tho
  15. Each to their own of course, and I do agree that the F-sport looks better with that front grille, than mine.... and the seats seem a bit more plush. At the time I was VERY tempted by a unit they had in Cazoo: silver with red seats. The more I looked the more i liked it. ....BUT a 235/40/18 tyre mounted in a car that yields a torque of 221 nm is like fitting Ferrari tyres to a Fiat panda, and will see the car drinking a bit more too. I usually go for practicality and I really like my 17inch rims. The car is pretty agile with them, although if I was to be a Lexus designer I would have fitted 16 inches by default
  16. The F-sport in silver with red seats looks amazing but I personally would not get it, given the state of the roads, and the cost of such oversized tyres.... Some of that is talked about in this thread, and I'm sure there was another on the same topic... Edit: I found it:
  17. Ha! I dont even have memory seats on mine and it's a pretty decent spec with the big screen and ventilated seats! They're electric but not with a settings memory. As you say, should have been standard: you see 15 year old lexus that have them, so they're nothing otherworldly
  18. This feature should come stock with the car. The way the boot opens in the IS300h does not scream "lexus" to me.
  19. One good thing about the SE is cheaper tyres (205/55/16 which is what all IS300H should have anyway) One negative thing is you lose the ability to fold the rear seats for extra luggage ... think about it. Additionally, thye say the SE sounds sytem isn't that good but I havent listened to one myself so I dunno...
  20. There is a stupid arms race these days, when it comes to wheel sizes and low profiles. Not too long ago a 16" wheel with a 195 or a 215 was considered very sporty and worn only by GTIs and the like You see small/medium cars wearing ridiculously fat and large wheels, far exceeding their capabilities, just for the sake of "looking sporty". Three-cylinder 1.0 engines with a 215 and even 235 tyre and 18' size ....stupid. As it is, I feel the 225/45/17 I have on mine are way more than enough. Fitting 18s or even 19s makes no sense to me. Even less so with the apalling quality of the roads.
  21. There are a couple of threads in this forum about it (apple carplay fitting) and it certainly works with the right installation and wiring etc. It is feasible. I guess most of us just can't be bothered given the workarounds (I listen to music in the car via bluetooth just the same, from my phone), and in my particular case, the fact that I would have to get someone else to dissassemble the dashboard to fit it etc. I can think of better things to do with 600 quid and the carplay isn't a must for me. Actually, if you get the Maps update (do you have the big or the normal screen?) the Lexus maps work pretty well and they tell you about upcoming gas stations, tolls etc that the Apple carplay does not.
  22. Welcome to the club! 👉 Anecdote, since you mentioned Mercs: I was in San Sebastian a few weeks ago. We got in a city taxi that was a Lexus ES 300h (same engine drivetrain etc)... the taxi driver told us that he had three Merdeces E class as a taxi, but that after 150,000 km, the car needed constant small repairs here and there, to the point it was hardly profitable. He said since he had got the ES he was super happy: after 350,000 km he had zero problems with it and was now a Lexus fan. I'm in love with the IS300h just like you: such a shame they didn't bring the 4th gen to the UK! Ticks all the boxes for me, and very few others (if any) would (the ES is too large).
  23. When I hear them say something "lasts a lifetime" I think of the first girlfriend (or boyfriend) you have when you're 16 and you think it will be forever...
  24. Lexus sells original touch-up paint, so you only need to know which Lexus colour your car is
