  1. I hear it....it is like a shudder at 1500 rpm.... have you taken it to the dealer yet?
  2. What I was told at the dealership when I asked about this was that only (or mainly) the RX and the CT are being targeted because in other models like the IS the cat is hard to access and therefore not at risk. I felt such a relief I felt like driving all the way just to give him a hug.
  3. Don't mind me Wharfhouse, I'm the type of person that thoroughly cleans the engine bay for fun....
  4. If it really was topping up only they would do nothing on mine. I check oil level every now and then and it hasnt dropped. This engine does not seem to drink oil much
  5. Im gonna sound like a broken records here but all i can say is im super happy (including the cold spell last winter) with michelin primacy 4 VOL and after 6k miles, they're like new (they're hard tyres). Noise levels good too.
  6. How do you guys apply the colourant those of you who do, without maing a mess of the white stitching in black leather?
  7. Looking great! Would you say the rubber mats are a lot heavier than the regular ones?
  8. Using heat you would ruin the little flexibiltiy that leather may have left, so I would advise against, strongly. Use a colour refresher or something like that. I know colourlock offers colour matching aside from the standard colour range
  9. It is not leather in most cases, it is synthetic leather. Balms usually don't get absorbed, but what you can do is throughly clean, then apply some matt protection or colour refresher, and then apply some shield such as gtechniq's leather guard. From their site:
  10. Lexus aren't always the most expensive: my dashcam was fitted by them at a loss (brand policy), but if you're looking for an independent specialist to do work the dealership would say no to, you can try these guys (I haven't tried them myself yet) https://www.dmbautomotive.co.uk/
  11. As it is, there is already a massive decline in French and German tourists visiting the UK.
  12. Very helpful thank you: I had been looking under the mats all this time
  13. Isn't it a simpler question? If one is concerned about noise, just look for the ones with the least DB on the energy efficiency label... most of the quiet ones are about 69DB and only a couple of models go below like these ones at 68DB (bear in mind the decibel scale is not linear, which is to say the distance between 68 and 69 is not equivalent to the one between 70 and 71...
  14. Just in case, I'm not letting my car anywhere near supermarket fuel and only give it BP or Shell 98/99 E5. Call me paranoid, but for the difference I'm not gonna take the long-term risk (I don't do lots of mileage anyway)
  15. I will share a quick anecdote: a friend who drives a Porsche 997 got an engine dash light on, and got scared. Took it to the Porsche specialist right away and the mechanic asked: "where did you last top-up fuel?" and he told him it was a low-cost gas station at a supermarket (those whitout humans at all) The mechanic said not to worry and upon deactivating the alert, told him the remedy was a full top-up of Shell/BP E5 to flush it. Apparently the petrol is the same but the filtering (purity) and the additives can make all the difference. He's got no more engine lights turn on since. BTW I saw Halfrauds sell a bottle of an additive that claim to make E10 safer. Anybody knows? Im curious but ultimately, I only refuel 98/99 E5 anyway. The car seems to like it better.
  16. I had Lexus Maidstone (or the call centre 200 km away on their behalf) say they'll call me back in 10 minutes, a couple of times I'm still waiting for the callback I think we'll call you back is code for get lost Canterbury lexus on the other hand has been brilliant the one time i had to deal with them
  17. It is pathetic (and sad) to see how some people persist in trying to see positives in a shoot-in-the-foot, taking imaginary sides, only not to admit they've been had (and ****** on), thus admiting failure to themselves. Anyway, thanks for the insights of this thread. I still struggle to see how I have been all over (driving in cities and all, Toulouse included) and haven't been told anything about the sticker. Or even just crossing the channel. How much was the sticker by the way, to those who just bought it ?
  18. Something thats annoying me with the dealerships is that no matter what you book for, even if a very small thing, they tell you they need to have the car "all day". It is super annoying unless you don't work full time and live next to the dealership, which id say most of us dont 🤨
  19. where in the interface do i look what version im in? thanks in advance
  20. I have also noticed lately that now they put you through a call centrer, whereas just a few months ago i was able to ring the local dealership and.... lo and behold, talk to the local dealership. If anyone in marketing is reading this: lexus, please beat it already. Calling any company these days is knowing they're gonna waste 45 min of your time on the phone, please don't be one more
  21. Cross climates are a compromise usually where you get only half-good of each type really... Michelins for me have been far more durable than any other brands, including Continental eco contact which are also good.
