  1. Good choice, I changed mine with SGS ones earlier this year - excellent quality, I expect they will last the car out. Hope your back is better soon, theres nowt worse.
  2. Sorry to hear this happened to you Mr Vlad, very pleased your ok though.
  3. A lovely ISF Nick, a credit to you being the former keeper. I'm 6ft too and I dont see any problem with space in the back other than the rear footwell room for my size 11 feet - It is very small when the driver / passenger seat is all the way back, I can still get in with my feet sideways though then there's no problem turning them under the seat in front. In a different review someone described the car as a coupe with rear doors - this I agree with but only for the foot space issue...the only small issue that I have found by the way.
  4. Before spending any money have you tried giving the camera lens a good clean first? - maybe it has become coated with contamination over time...try alcohol hand sanitizer or neat fairy liquid etc on a cotton bud or microfibre cloth. Excellent advice from Mr Linas btw.
  5. I found that the Duckduckgo browser app stopped a lot of adverts. Also try Chrome's "incognito" function. Hope this helps you.
  6. I'm with GEM Motoring Assist, Joint cover for myself and my wife on their recovery extra package for £129 a year. Was with the AA after being hoodwinked in for a very low price ( I forget what it was initially) after the first year I ended up paying around £38 per month. I havent had to call GEM for assistance yet so I can't comment on the service they give but its peace of mind for us. They cover cars of any age too so no problem there either.
  7. On mine I press the physical "Menu" button on the left hand side Then on the screen press "Map DVD" (at the top right of the screen) Then press DVD with eject symbol at the bottom left of the screen. Hope that helps.
  8. Thanks for the info link, horrendous isnt it. So easy to do - I like to be more exact than the two measures on the bottle (25 & 50ml) so I just pour some into a different container (empty vitamin container) and use a 25ml syringe. Decide how much fuel I need say 30 Litres and squirt 30ml into the tank then go and fill up...so it mixes better in the tank. If I put more than 30 Litres in I just add the extra few ml when I get back...how I do it anyway.
  9. Asked Lexus Parts Direct in the end, they identified it from the same pictures and found one for me. Turns out it's called a "Grille Protection Bolt" part No SKU: 53119-53021L. Brilliant service from LPD 😊
  10. I read about Mr Vlad's tip about Millers additive on a previous post, started using it with Asda E10 and never looked back.
  11. I paid £4000 for my 2006 SE-L with just over 90K miles last December knowing it needed a full set of new tyres, bonnet and boot struts and some other bits and bobs that were missing - all in all it came to around £4800. I was happy to pay this and never looked back. Good luck with your decision Neil.
  12. Beautiful car, it has a lovely colour combination - well done to your Son 🙂
  13. Hi all, This is all that I have missing now - from the slam panel cover under the bonnet. Does anyone know what the part is called or the part number please? Thanks very much Neil.
  14. Forgot to mention while undoing the trim along the top of the boot - all four plastic clips came away from their glued positions. Tried epoxy resin glue then double sided adhesive velcro but nothing seemed to hold up. Eventually used some thin type number plate adhesive pads...these stuck the clips to the trim solidly. Hope this helps someone. Cheers Neil.
  15. Bought my 2006 nearly six years after the original post - the wheels are flaked in part but not too bad, the wipers were oxidised below the hinges. The rear leather headrests have become harder especially the middle one which is brittle and has cracked on top (where they face direct sunlight). No body rust showing, not sure about the underside of the car or if the exhaust is original, I'll probably find out more when it is next MOT'd.
  16. Can only think that the OEM struts are flat at one end for added strength. If only the flat end could be unscrewed and swapped over. The boot operates lovely now. Cheers Neil.
  17. Do you have extra weight on the boot such as a spoiler maybe....either way it sounds like something is wrong. I believe the purpose of the struts are to make it nearly effortless to lift. I'd take it back to Lexus and see what they say.
  18. Do you remember which struts you fitted? With the SGS ones - after the boot is popped open it will lift by itself with just a nudge of a finger.
  19. Yes they clipped on fine but now you have me thinking.....I should have given them a tug at that end to see if they remained in place. I'll take off the carpet liner again tomorrow and check them for safety's sake then report back.
  20. What a lovely buying experience and the smiles will continue everytime they get into the car 🙂
  21. Ordered a pair of gas struts from SGS Engineering for the boot - I fitted them today, they work lovely - no more heavy boot lid. They're a bit different to the ones I took off - they have round fittings at both ends (not flat at one end) they fit perfectly anyway. Put in a new boot carpet from ebay - lovely fit too 🙂
  22. Yeah I hold on to mine too when I close it, could be dangerous in strong winds I guess. Cheers,
