  1. I'd like to see the interior of this before giving at least an 'in pictures' verdict. I have to admit - I'm a sad person and I've always got a soft spot for a brown or a beige car, so this naturally appeals to me! 😉 I wonder what model this is based on? With 'only' 18" alloys, the base one? With a 15mm increased suspension, I'd imagine this to be a bit softer and more 'wallowy' than a regular NX, but of course I'm willing to be corrected on that if proven wrong. Interesting, nevertheless...

I burst out laughing when I saw this - as my infamous dealer is highlighted as an 'award winner'. 😳🤣 It would get an award from me alright - for being the worst dealer I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with in my 21 years of purchasing new cars and a place I couldn't possibly recommend to anyone for anything other than standard servicing.
  3. I only ever used adaptive cruise control when I had my UX. Indeed, the 5mph increments were annoying because in all the cars I had prior to that with cruise control were able to be adjusted by the usual 1mph. One method I adapted was if I wanted to reduce by 1mph, was to take cruise off and put it back on almost immediately - to account for a 1mph drop, if you know where I'm coming from. Alternatively if I wanted to increase by 1mph, I'd remain on cruise control whilst I gently pressed the throttle to gain that additional 1mph. Then I'd turn off the cruise control and immediately put it on again. A bit of a faff, but I quickly got used to it.

  5. Occasionally I get eight consecutive beeps when I lock my car - which if I'm in a car park or similar has caused other people to look around, which is a bit embarrassing. There's no rhyme or reason to when it does it - probably once every seven or eight times I get out the car and lock it. I believe it's something to do with having to check what's on the back seat (I'll stand corrected on that if anyone knows differently), but literally the only thing that's on it is a neatly folded up picnic rug! Speaking of which, I always get a 'check back seat' warning message that comes up in my speedo when I turn the car off. I'd understand this if there was something lying on the back seat or there were passengers there but again - five out of the seven days of the week there's nothing there barring the picnic rug!
  6. Many thanks for the update, I was wondering about this thread only the other day and where we were up to with the case... I had a feeling that steaming the seat wouldn't really work but didn't want to say anything at the time in case I was proven wrong. I could imagine a steamer flattening out the creases for sure, but not actually doing anything with regards to the marks caused by the creases - which looks to be the case judging from your pictures. I'm happy that they suggested it as an option to begin with but now it's become clear it really needs a new cover (I'm surprised to hear that they are just covers...). This is something that I would be perusing, personally.
  7. I wasn't given a handbook with mine unfortunately, Steve... That would have been my first port of call, otherwise. Indeed - it's something I'll note down when it's due it's first service in September and see what they say. It could very well be 'normal', but I can't say I've been beind any other NX's braking in order to comment. Certainly not one that I've noticed, anyway! The brake lights themselves work fine and as they should, so there's no worries there. It's just odd that the brake pedal also activates the rear 'night lights' at the same time with it if it's not dark enough to have them on properly!
  8. Hi folks. Here's a bit of an odd one for you which I only noticed yesterday... Coming home from work I was in the usual rush-hour queue. There was a bus behind me and obviously with my foot on the brake, my brake lights were on. I happen to look in the rear view mirror and saw they were lit in the bus's windscreen as they should be. However...I also noticed the taillights were also lit. By that, I mean all the red lights - the light bar across the bootlid e.t.c. - as if it was dark and I had my lights on. I naturally looked to the dashboard but they weren't on - confirmed by no headlights of mine reflecting from the car I was behind... So, I released the footbrake when the traffic ahead started moving whilst looking at the bus and everything went out. The brake lights and taillights together... The next time I had to brake, I noticed both the brake lights and taillights/night lights came on together again... 🤔 I got home and had a mess around. The brake lights work on their own if I physically turn the lights of the car on. The night time lights at the back stay on as they should. However, when the lights are off, both the night lights and brake lights seem to work together. So basically my question is that is this normal or do I have some sort of weird electrical glitch which makes my rear night time taillights work in conjunction with the brake lights during daylight hours?! I can't say I've ever noticed this on another NX before, although on my way into work this morning I was behind a Mazda CX-5 which seem to perform the same 'trick'. Maybe it's normal and a 'Japanese' thing but I can't say it's something I've ever noticed before...
  9. There are some truly shocking roads out and around my neck of the woods at the moment. Two examples spring to mind immediately: Firstly, the street next to the one I live on. It's a side-street but is on a bus route. This has been poorly maintained for not far off a decade, now. It's surface-dressed (yuck) but all that done was turn a very lumpy and uneven surface into a coarse, lumpy and uneven surface. Naturally, most of that surface dressing has either broken apart or worn completely away. It was never replaced. Since then, it's had literally dozens of small potholes open up on it. One by one, the worst ones are filled in by the council - so the surface now has a rough 'patchwork quit' effect for much of it's length. It's still lumpy and uneven. Over time, some of those potholes have opened back up and new ones have appeared. The whole lot has needed ripping up and resurfacing properly for the last couple of years, now. Secondly, there's a semi-rural lane about a mile from where I live and forms part of my route home from work (well, the route that avoids the worst of the traffic). Until recent months, there was a 50yd or so stretch which genuinely resembled what I can only describe as a ploughed field and was often swerved around by driving on the opposite side of the lane when possible. I first complained to the council about it's deteriorating condition at least four years ago but was told "it's up to standard". 🤷‍♂️ For a tractor or monster truck maybe, but not a road car. Fortunately that's now been resurfaced properly. However, there's a good quarter of a mile stretch shortly before this which now has now become a slalom-course for motorists. Random holes have been opening up in places. So, the only real way to navigate it in relative 'smoothness' is to drive with a combination of your passenger wheels literally on the white line before the soft verge, and sometimes with your offside wheels just over the centre line markings.
  10. I honestly wouldn't bother with the EV button as others have suggested. Something I've said in the past is that it just seems to be a button which either 'pleeps' to tell you it hasn't worked or if it does, the moment your right foot does anything order than rest on the throttle, 'pleeps' at you to tell you it's deactivated! In mine, it'll work from standing up to 20/21mph - providing you're light on the throttle. After that, it'll automatically deactivate. The only time I've found it kind-of works is in the final mile or so running into work - which is just over the border into North Wales and of course, unfortunately part of the new 20mph zones. I can get it running completely in EV mode in that particular circumstance but that is literally it. From my experience, as quite a gentle driver anyway, I can actually get better (and more sustained) use out of the battery in hybrid mode at higher speeds.
  11. I don't know if mine has run an update or whether it's down to now having the second key - but literally all my settings are up the wall at the moment. Firstly, it started by my seat not sliding forwards when starting the car. I had to press my memory seat button to get it to wake up. Luckily, this is an issue which hasn't repeated since. Next issue is that the climate control knobs now work in tandem with one another rather than separately. For instance, if I put the drivers side to 23oC - the passenger side will mirror it. I'm classed as a 'guest' in my own car, no matter how many times I go into the settings and select my phone (which it accepts). As soon as I leave the car and jump back in, I'm a 'guest' again. Similar to the above (assuming it's phone related) - I'm now having the blue 'terms and conditions' screen appear each and every time I start the car. It now won't automatically skip past this as it always used to. What on earth have they done!? I think a dealer visit is in order as I really don't have the patience to deal with this.
  12. I can certainly not my head in agreement to certain things in your opening post @Bill Dawes! The parcel shelf - well, boot cover, is indeed flimsy. Nothing more than a flexible frame with a thin fabric covering. I'm assuming that's down to a lack of boot space, so loads can still be at least obscured as bags e.t.c. 'push up' against the fabric from underneath. If it was a solid shelf, I'd imagine that would worsen the already poor boot space. I agree that the attaching loops are incredibly fiddly things. Fortunately, I found myself only having to remove it a couple of times when I had it. The NX still doesn't have a solid parcel shelf, but is certainly an improvement over the design of the UX one. Yes - I also thought it was very odd that were were no pockets, even small ones, in the rear door panels. Mine was a 2020 model (so fairly early) and I'd imagined it would have been tweaked by now (like the gearstick was, removing the touch pad gubbins e.t.c...) but was surprised to see that's still the case. Obviously it never really effected me as I was driving it upwards of 90% of the time, but it did feel a bit impractical on the few times I found myself in the rear. Otherwise I do think it's a neatly packaged and stylish car. I did overall enjoy the three and a half years I had with mine. The only thing which did bother me during my ownership was that poor boot space. It was absolutely fine during weekday commutes but when it came to weekends, days away or holidays - the back seats regularly had to become an extension to the boot.
  13. I noticed that this morning when I tried mine - 20 minutes is now allowed rather than 10. 🤔 I have the 350h, so it doesn't seem to matter whether it's a 350h or 450h. All I can say is that the engine was running when I went out to the car this morning. I honestly couldn't tell you if the engine was always running or not during the process. However, I know for a fact mine used to alternate between the battery and engine when it was 10 minutes.
  14. Indeed. I remember when I ordered my UX, the Takumi was fractionally above the £40k mark - which ruled it out for me. So I went for an F-Sport with option packs which took it to an 'almost Takumi' spec - to bring the price just short of £40k. Mechanically identical, yet hundreds of pounds of difference to tax a year. It makes no sense at all. Before I settled on the UX and was shopping around the brands, I noticed almost everything I considered was literally just over the £40k mark by a few hundred pounds. I often wondered at the time how many sales it would have cost them. I'd also like to know who decided on the price of these cars - given this £40k 'envy tax' band was already well known by that point.
  15. Mine is the same age as yours @S Dhuper and my driver's seat (hazel) is still pretty much perfect - so this is certainly something I would also be perusing. Obviously I can't comment on yours in terms of milage to compare, but I'm up to 3400. From your pictures, this is something I'd expect to see on an example that's a couple of years old. My previous UX was starting to get like this when I traded it in - but that was just shy of three and a half. At around this time, I deemed that to be reasonable wear and tear. With regards to my NX's driver's seat, all I have is a few very minor creases starting to develop on the right hand bolsters - which you'd rub up against getting in and out the car. By minor - I mean you have to literally put your face to within about six inches of them to see...
  16. Good news, folks. I've finally received my letter confirming my second key is now ready to be programmed. So - my own wait for the second key is just short of five and a half months (collected the car 1st September 2023). There's no news on the locking wheel bolts. I'm just trying to arrange to get the car to them and back to me (I don't really want to return to the dealer to be honest after my experiences), so hopefully I should have my spare key shortly...
  17. Indeed - no mistake unfortunately. This is something I'm bracing myself for when my tax will be up at the end of August. I simply refer to it as the 'envy tax', of which more and more cars are now falling into. Even reasonably modest cars are now upwards of £30k. It's ridiculous. I just about escaped it with my old UX (literally - by a few hundred pounds). There was no way of escaping it with the NX sadly, regardless of model - which was one of the reasons why I plumped for the Takumi in the end.
  18. Like @Al D-Much, I personally like the way it's set up and I like the fact that if you want it - you press the button. It was the same in my UX. There does seem to be a bit of a 'jolt' using it to pull away as it's obviously holding the brakes. That's fine on a hill, but unnecessary elsewhere. Each to their own of course, but I certainly wouldn't like it to be 'on' all the time. I'd feel as though I'd have a slightly sticky caliper every time I wanted to move forwards from standing still.

I've resisted the urge to call the dealer until now - but put on my 'big boy boots' this morning to contact my woeful dealer to find out what's going on with my second key and locking wheel bolts. Predictably - no real news other than they told me they've just had in a key for someone who collected their car in August 2023. So, with mine being collected in September 2023, the answer was: "errr, it might not be too much longer". Notification will come in form of a letter from Lexus directly, so I've been told. One letter for the key and another for the locking wheel bolts. I've no idea how true this is. 🤷‍♂️ I'm waiting for them to advise my they don't supply the locking wheel bolts any more - as I signed for the car on the understanding that the second key AND the locking bolts were to follow. I clearly wrote both down. My dealer seemed to be 'aware' of this forum and, now that I have the car I feel safe enough to say this, is that they told me to 'ignore it' and solely rely on the information they, as the dealer, gave. I almost burst out laughing. What information is that exactly? They kept me pretty much in the dark throughout my 16 month wait for the car - and it's only when I made complaints to Customer Services did they reluctantly provide me with absolute basic non-information which was neither use nor ornament. They were notably very displeased that, after twelve months of zero news at that point, I felt the need to contact Customer Services (something else I'll now reveal). As you say Harry - I'd say comfortably upwards of 90% of the information throughout the ordering process has indeed come from fellow members of this forum. That really isn't an exaggeration either. 100% of the information with regards to these 'missing bits' has come solely from this place.
  20. I have to admit, I didn't even know about these 'advanced options' until you mentioned them @Gaazzared! Have they always been there or just appeared?! Anyway, there's nothing really there of use to me - other than perhaps opening the window (which one?!) if it's been a blazing hot day... Besides, I don't really have much use for the app. I'd like to use it for remote climate but on my car, it only works when it wants to (rarely) rather than when I want it to. It just seems to be something which records your mileage, fuel level and trip overviews - and 'times out' when you press on just about anything else.

If it crops up again I'll bear that one, of holding the button in for a few seconds, in mind... I wasn't aware that was 'a thing'. @Scotlex Fingers crossed it was indeed a one off. It's not cropped up again so far. All good. 🤞 @imgo I do vaguely remember reading your thread at the time but I must admit, I'd forgotten about that in the meantime! Thanks for reminding me... It would be interesting if it was related to what I had - although my sound didn't stop half way through a drive. It just didn't work from start up! Then the next time at the end of the day, all was fine again. Very odd!
  22. Hi folks! A bit of an odd one this...and fortunately it appears to have resolved itself but I'm interested to hear if anyone else has come across this with their NX350h or NX450h. Yesterday morning I got into the car, started as normal, backed off the driveway to the usual audible sounds of the parking sensors and pulled away. So far, so good... I went to put on my heated seat only to find the screen had somehow 'muted' itself. It wasn't doing it's usual 'bongs' when you press on the screen. The functions were all working perfectly fine - but it was completely silent regardless of what I pressed. Thinking this was a little odd, I turned on the radio. Low and behold - that was silent too. The radio was on but again, no matter how high I put the volume either by using the knob or on the steering wheel - it remained completely silent. Turning it off and on again resulted in the same issue. It shown the radio was on - but no volume at all. I get to the last few miles of the journey where I'm usually warned of a speed camera (the two beeps close together) and at the moment, the ladies voice telling me "warning - one mile ahead, roadworks". As you have probably predicted by now - nothing. The car was silent. So, I pull into work and as it should, the parking sensors worked fine. It was the only audible thing in the car that was working. 😕 I look around but can't see any sign of a 'mute' button or similar that I may have accidentally pressed when getting into the car, but with time pushing on, I had no further time to investigate until finishing work. At the end of the working day, I got back into the car thinking it's either got it's first pronounced fault, or there's a 'fault' with it's user (i.e - me!) which so far isn't resolved. So, I leave work, put on my heated seat and guess what - the 'bonging' when you press the screen is working again! I turn the radio on - out comes music from the speakers as it should... It even warns me of that speed camera with two quick bleeps - as it should... Ummm... 🤔 This morning? All fine again! So, did I inadvertently do something which basically silenced everything inside the car barring the parking sensors (which if I did and I'm an idiot - please say so!), or did the car very much 'glitch out' yesterday morning?! I'm curious to see if anyone else has experienced this or similar...
  23. That's confusing... Do I press down on that rocker switch to get reverse and up to get drive? Or vice-versa? Would I press the switch 'in' towards the dashboard for neutral?!
  24. I have to say, judging from those pictures, that boot looks a really decent size and certainly an improvement over the UX I used to have. As someone who has an NX now (and one of the main reasons for upgrading to one was due to a lack of boot space), I'd probably get away with an LBX, boot-space wize, 80-90% of the time. I also like the fact that the interior fabric makes it up onto the door panels - which was another minor gripe I had about the UX (a little 'plastic-tastic' in that particular regard). Rear seat space doesn't look brilliant in the LBX though, but I was expecting that given the segment it sits in. As someone who does carry occasional passengers in the back at the weekends, I think that would ultimately kill it for me. It's hard to judge from pictures though, I will admit. No doubt I'll get to poke around one at some point and make a better judgement of the LBX when I see one in person.
  25. It's all common sense really - or rather, it ought to be. Gentle acceleration. Gentle braking where possible and smooth, fluid steering input. I generally keep my washer fluid topped up anyway so mine very rarely gets low. However, last Friday my washer jets had frozen solid and I had to look through various arcs of smeared road dirt on the way into work when I thought it was safe enough to use them. That was...interesting. I'm pleased to hear no one was injured. That could have been very nasty. This reminds me of our works' car park - which for much of last week resembled an icing rink barring a small 10ft or so length beyond the entrance gates. I almost ended up doing the splits walking away from the car last Thursday morning. 😬 The chap in the warehouse who usually salts/grits the car park at this time of year did eventually get round to it - but only about an hour after everyone had already been in and 'skated' their way to the entrance door!
