  1. Regarding advice be aware if it's the 'black' stuff these days it brings an advisory on MOT's to the effect the underside is not visible. When transparent stuff is now available it's easy enough to avoid that.
  2. 1/4 ltr ,or 500 mls is 2 large size glasses. These days I always end up paying £20 to £30 per bottle so you are on the money with that statement. That lot above for 13E is just ridiculous and I mean that in the very best way ! Lets face it this country it has become fairly pricy for a number of things that we like to do. food , drink, transport. I mean I feel my socialist leaning cells about ready to declare a revolution. Down with capitalism I say (if I am paying for it 😄 )
  3. I think you are asking the right question ,but to the wrong people. Ask the dealership exactly what they are intending to do before they do it. As mentioned in an earlier post this won't be an inhouse job as it requires specialist skills and equipment. Obviously take pics of the seat and indeed the areas around the seat so that you can clearly show the condition it was in when you left it in their care. Just a precaution.
  4. Yer collective masses owns it. Even me by proxy. irony does not escape me.
  5. I was thinking title S.O.S Sad Old Sods😉
  6. The problem is they likely have algorithm driven criteria for assessing ads. The things that alert us mean nothing to those algorithms. For example, you have the same SC 430 ad posted in about 4 or 5 different locations within the UK. Same price, same reg etc. However, when you report it they come back and report they are not going to cancel the ad as it does not breach their criteria. In that case all you can do is block the profile ( which means little as the scammers obviously have has many different profiles as they want), and of course hide the ad., but it will keep popping up under it's many aliases. Facebook probably will not get serious about scammers until someone decides that by law they are liable for any fraudulent losses incurred via their platform. Nothing motivates like seeing your bottomline diminishing.
  7. It isn't only boxers who are not quite has tough and resilient these days. Hows this for a commentary on the wood used to build your home. No words needed.
  8. They are also very lazy. If you go into the description you will find they have copy and pasted it. After just a little effort you will recognise their 'script' immediately just from that.
  9. I came across this and was left lost for words. " ***** Hyland and Ray Campbell after a fight in 1913. It lasted 110 rounds, 7 hr 19 min (9:15 p.m.-4:34 a.m.), and was declared a no contest (later changed to a draw). The longest fight in history" I cannot conceive how that must have felt physically and mentally.
  10. Probably, but not me (just in case the wife reads).
  11. Yup I don't look either ! 😍
  12. My apologies I should have said XK(X150). ! The extra X makes all the difference. Unfortunately I cannot see how I can edit the topic title. If there is a way anyone knows then please shout out. I wouldn't dream of comparing the original XK150 with a car half a century newer. It's pointless for obvious reasons.
  13. Now I have got the V5 form all sorted out and the car insured then tomorrow it will be road taxed and ready to go. I am going to use this thread to make a comparison between the two cars based upon my experience of owning and driving them. I will try to be objective, but bear in mind aesthetically I am a bit biased towards the SC 430. At this point I have not driven the Jag except to test drive due to me screwing up the V5 form at purchase completely forgetting that I was supposed to put this in my wife's name. That's now all sorted so we are clear for lift off. Having just come back off a 250 mile round trip in the SC 430 it's quite a good point to start the comparison. I will use pics where I think it's appropriate. Hope it is interesting for more than just me.
  14. I see one of the white one's has gone , and another white one has popped up on Facebook at less money. Meanwhile the Shipley one sits and wonders why am I not loved.
  15. You were right, brown envelope from the tax man tomorrow. Postal time lag effect.🤨
  16. Gary, So you're a little way in how do you find the drive of the SC 430? What wrinkles if any have you uncovered? How about a few pics not in the advert. Preferably with cobbles. 😉
  17. Makes sense you probably have a small boat inside that motorhome.
  18. Unfortunately not. That Motorhome belongs to my brother with whom we stayed just outside York. Can say with high confidence level that after 6 months usage with motorway mileage the SC 430 gives 400 miles per tank (75 litres).
  19. I can tell you it was about £50 difference if I wanted to insure the XK in the next few days after purchase to what it was if I put a date 3 weeks hence.
  20. Lexigirl went over to Beverley. Not a cobble in sight on the driveway. 🤨 Couple of pics of the Minster and the main Square. Poignant plaque on the side of the Minster as to the fate of two soldiers in the 17th century. Anyway, just some shots for people who may not have visited Beverley ,but might wish to do so.
  21. I had of course classified you to be a statistical outlier that cannot be visibly seen on the Bell distribution.
  22. Let's take the psychological route for an explanation. You will almost certainly pick the period that coincides with that period in your life that you formed the memories that made you the adult you are today. Cognitive and development psychology understands this issue quite well.
  23. Better, do not overpay for low mileage that is irrelevant to a V8 that should outlast all of us at 5k pa.
  24. It occurs to me those two words don't really belong in the same sentence.🤨
