  1. As the saying goes 'I've never seen a mirror I didn't like'.
  2. Being way younger (and better looking) the 70's were just great. Did have a car. Austin 1100 for awhile, but soon found it more convenient to ask girls at the outset 'do you have a car?'.
  3. Time for some good news on insurance. I took a policy with Hastings Direct on the XK in my wifes name and that came in at £270 when we finished the details. However, it offered a multi car policy option so I thought lets look at what that might be if I add the SC 430 when it comes up in September and that's the good news. On exactly the same details it knocked £400 off what I paid last year on that car. Took it and quite happy with that outcome. Indeed, that about covers the extra road tax next year on having that second car when of course I include the likely Sorn period in the winter. The sun is also shining, must be fortuitous.
  4. So you're not offering to swap it for a milk float?
  5. The next time you read or hear that Aluminium does not rust remember this pic that it does corrode. That's a shot of a 2007 XK. Should note it is not mine !
  6. Time to top up the steering fluid. Looking at the manual states Automatic Fluid Dexron 2 or 3. Anyone got a tried and tested favorite brand for the SC 430.?
  7. That's interesting and useful. Thanks Glyn.
  8. Not really, my NCD had lapsed years ago so when I came to get insurance I got a quote of £1500+, or classic car insurance with a cap of 3k at £690. The XK I put in my wifes name and that was just £250. Talk about equality , I wish !
  9. Mine is a 3000 cap so now you know why I wanted a second V8!
  10. It's a big ask though the wife pulling a trailer all the way to Spain.
  11. Yes, that's the solution OK. Does the wife really have to go?
  12. Mine keep saying "cut us some slack here it isnt our fault you are as deaf as a post and blind as a bat".
  13. Gary, Sorry for not getting back to you with pics of the throttle controller. Picked up a nasty allergic reaction that put me out of sorts for a week. Hope these pics are clear . The settings are Eco (economy), Norm (Normal), and then 30 different settings for increasing the degree of air mixture to reduce the lag on acceleration. I don't like Eco and mainly run in Norm mode. Sometimes I let it rip with 1.9, 2.9 and 3.9. The higher the setting the less lag. I wouldn't be without it even though I run mainly in Norm.
  14. I note the Shipley car although a £1k added now comes with a cambelt/pump change. They were at least listening albeit a bit sharp on covering the cost.
  15. 28" parrallels . Bought my first bespoke pair in 100% wool (grey herringbone) from a tailor on North Street, Keighley covering the 3" boot heel ! At the time I thought I looked straight out of Soho ,London, but looking back of course just another t*it trying to be different.
  16. On ice takes you on to your "back" ..speaking from painful experience.
  17. On my planet we don't have "beliefs" 😉
  18. I don't have a crystal ball, but I do not think insurance premiums are going back where they where they were. That is, do any of us think the inflationary inputs are going to reverse? Those salary increases, energy costs, and a host of other such. I suspect the best we can hope for is they flatline for the immediate future. Other issues such as repair costs for EV are a separate issue and I have little idea on that issue other than the obvious view that if battery cost do not change radically why would any repair costs associated with them. Sorry not a very positive summary for you.
  19. Whilst this article is about Hong Kong it overlaps to the issues facing China. It pains me to say Hong Kong is over (ft.com)
  20. Long shot, but have you checked the TA button is off.
  21. Or just go to source The Lancashire Oracle
